I'm starting this thread as a side discussion of all things Corona Virus related. I understand that this is going to be discussed in almost all other topic threads but we could collect news and other items here. 

 

At work, many conferences have been cancelled.

NBA - Suspended.

NHL - About to be suspended. 

NCAA March Madness - Playing - no crowd. 

 

Political Rallies have been cancelled. 

Travel bans. 

 

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks tested positive. They're in Australia where testing is available. If they were in the US, they wouldn't have been tested.

While COVID-19 has been linked to psychological effects, most notably “brain fog,” researchers have begun to publish papers on more severe cases of psychosis, even in patients with no prior history of mental illness. One paper, published by the NIH’s National Library of Medicine, describes a 52-year-old man who developed suicidal paranoia after contracting the virus. As with much of the lesser-known symptoms of the coronavirus, medical researches do not yet know much about what causes these effects.

Hopefully this affects the morons who came out in the hundreds of thousands to malls such as West Edmonton, Cross Iron Mills  & Chinook Centre here in Calgary as well as elsewhere in Alberta. Like they give a **** about anyone else.

It is more likely to affect people who are afraid to leave home.  My sister’s neighbour almost died because he was afraid leave his house.

Nothing in reports so far have indicated that the variant is more virulent than the primary virus- just more easily transmittable. We need to hope and pray that no deadlier variants appear- there is evidence that one did appear in New Jersey, wiping out 5 of 6 members of one household, but it appears to have been contained.

British Government Predicts Pandemic Will End in Spring as Oxford/AstraZeneca Vaccine Is Approved

The Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine won approval from British regulators Wednesday—a landmark moment that the U.K. government claims will see off the pandemic by the spring. Britain is the first nation in the world to approve the Oxford shot, which is cheaper and easier to store than other vaccines. The country has ordered 100 million doses, which, when combined with its store of Pfizer-BioNTech shots, will be enough to vaccinate the whole population. Interestingly, the approval came with a shift in Britain’s vaccine strategy—it’s now aiming to give as many people as possible their first shot, to provide some level of protection to more people, rather than focusing on giving the required double dose of the vaccine to a smaller number of extremely vulnerable people. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Wednesday: “We now know, with a very high degree of confidence, that we’re going to be out of this by the spring.”

Sure. But you have to see the whole picture. Recognize all the impacts. 

So MB will not hold back 2nd dose saying it's no longer necessary with 40000 vaccines expected by end of January.

Apparently they will have a dashboard up with that info soon.

Word on Twitter is that AB halted vaccinations over the Christmas/New Years break because they didn't want to pay nurses overtime to administer them. Perfectly on brand for Kenney's Alberta....

That makes no sense. You believe that it's worse to have people stay in their homes than cramming thousands into shopping malls on Boxing Day & spreading the infection further thus lengthening the lockdown? Some not wearing masks?

When someone feels the need to stay inside 100% of the time & it begins to effect their physical and mental health, that can be just as bad as picking up the virus

No one should stay inside all the time - people should be made more aware that there are safe ways to go outside

I don't know which one is worse, I just know both scenarios can lead to some pretty messed up situations and messed up people.

I was led to believe that Jason Kenny was giving vaccines out personally. He probably just needed a break. 

 

******* sad that they can't even hit 25% of their targeted vaccination numbers by the new year. but then again, ******* **** up is all this government is good for.

You clog the hospitals then hundreds will die & you have all kinds of other problems far worse. 

I'm 100% with Iso on this. You can't possibly compare the so called negativity of stay-at-home orders to the virus itself. That's insanity.
