Covid-19

I'm starting this thread as a side discussion of all things Corona Virus related. I understand that this is going to be discussed in almost all other topic threads but we could collect news and other items here.

At work, many conferences have been cancelled.

NBA - Suspended.

NHL - About to be suspended.

NCAA March Madness - Playing - no crowd.

Political Rallies have been cancelled.

Travel bans.

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks tested positive. They're in Australia where testing is available. If they were in the US, they wouldn't have been tested.

Nothing drives me crazier than people accusing him of cutting health care. How can it be cuts if he is spending more? Yes, he piloted a complete reorganization of the health care system but he didn’t make cuts. Changes are not cuts.

Except that he absolutely did make cuts and restricted government funding to key health providers. WRHA's governmental funding (per their audited financial statements) dropped by about 30% year-over-year when you compare the March 31, 2020 statement of operations to the March 31, 2019 statements.

(Just search "Health" and you can obtain the WRHA financial statements)

You cannot tell me a 30% reduction is normal year-over-year fluctuations.

Apology in 3, 2, 1

I haven't paid attention to what you're posting. All I know is you're whining about losing Xmas because of Pallister.. People have been losing more than that when they are sick. I live in a Province where the Premier has lost no sleep over anyone dying from Covid. All he cares about is pleasing his Neandertal rural base here as that's all he has left. He doesn't give a **** how bad this virus gets. He won't bring in mandatory  masks & he even told the media this week that he doesn't believe everyone should get vaccinated. Just like Trump today doing a rally in Georgia. Same damned thing. No masks. No social distancing. A super spreader event. He doesn't give a ****, either. So, no apology just because you're put out Pallister cancelled Xmas.

and we have our new deadliest day ever

If we do not get a significant reduction in new cases and % of positive tests by Monday, we will be in trouble.

My rant has nothing to do with Xmas, it has everything to do with Pallister.

Code Red? Code Dead

Edited by FrostyWinnipeg

Well this upcoming week will be important to see if Code Red restrictions has affected case numbers, it seems we have plateaued in terms of new daily cases now we need to see a downturn in day to day numbers

Mark Donnelly sang the national anthem at an event called the Christmas Freedom Rally in Vancouver on Saturday, where hundreds of people protested restrictions imposed by British Columbia's provincial health officer.

Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini tweeted late Friday that Donnelly was now the former Canucks anthem singer, followed by the Twitter hashtag #wearamask.

Donnelly told the crowd, many of whom weren't wearing masks or physically distancing, that he decided to sing because he questions the "draconian lockdown protocols."

"What was originally sold as a 15-day hunkering-down sprint for the common good has turned into a 10-month marathon from hell, where the finish line is constantly being moved further into the distance," he said.

Donnelly said he doesn't think health officials have done a cost-benefit analysis looking at the harms of the restrictions compared with preventing the spread of COVID-19.

"As someone known for singing our great national anthem, I'm standing up against what I feel is tyranny, plain and simple," he said to applause and cheers from the crowd.

Glad he got fired from such a prestigious job. Turns out he's just another covidiot jerk-off.

I agree. We need to be better at complying with the orders they have in front of us now. Took the dog for a walk late evening yesterday and saw several houses that had small groups together. Saw someone I know that sells to our company visiting friends, gathered around the island. I saw him visiting the same friends in the summer, no question in my mind who it was. Not letting him in the building anytime soon.

People should realize if their house backs on to a park with walking trails it is very easy to see inside your house.

As best as I can understand it we have a growing number of outbreaks in PCH’s and the “ under housed population”. TPR isn’t going to go down until we start doing more wide spread general testing.

To be fair, most churches in Winnipeg went to virtual services in March. Some switched back to live in the summer but those that did switched back to virtual when we went to Red. As well, I'm talking small churches too, not just the larger ones.

Since when is it summer in Singapore, Taiwan, or Vietnam in early December? Or anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere, for that matter.
