I'm starting this thread as a side discussion of all things Corona Virus related. I understand that this is going to be discussed in almost all other topic threads but we could collect news and other items here. 

 

At work, many conferences have been cancelled.

NBA - Suspended.

NHL - About to be suspended. 

NCAA March Madness - Playing - no crowd. 

 

Political Rallies have been cancelled. 

Travel bans. 

 

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks tested positive. They're in Australia where testing is available. If they were in the US, they wouldn't have been tested. 

What. the. ****.

 

This piecemeal approach to reducing sizes is not going to work... shut the stuff down that completely spreads the virus... like gyms...

 

Ugh, looks they have given up on Christmas season. Cuz these new restrictions are going to do nothing.

Hard to say, he's been missing for ages. 

 

Why isn't he up there telling us what they are doing? Where's Friesen on Health and adding capacity to help with everything? Where's Geortzen to explain why schools are doing fundraisers to buy sanitizer and PPE? 

I really wish they would publish the data on ages related to infections, recovery time and hospitalizations. That would help paint a clearer picture I think.

A few months ago there were some here who thought places like Alberta were cesspools of Covid 19. Now with 1/4 of the population, you're showing numbers similar to ours. Which shows how complacent most of you were. I sincerely wish you guys the best of luck as you don't have the hospital capacity we do in Alberta & we're concerned here with our numbers. Politics, ideology & politicians are driving this pandemic with their refusal to shut things down.

Although, I truly believe that cases and deaths are being underreported down south. Red states and the Feds are manipulating the data.

It's incredible how quickly Covid got into Care Homes and Hospitals, we are going to fight an up hill battle in the next month as these closures came way to late and all truth aside I don't have any faith that some people that are not feeling well will get tested or isolate but rather continue to work and socialize, and the cycle will repeat itself over and over again.

He did the right thing initially,  much to the surprise of everyone but ever since the first re-openings he has been total right wing dor knob, including picking fights with AHS. 

Apparently people cannot interpret the numbers and the news from today and just see the large 480 number and are going out and being dumb again.    Line ups galore for toilet paper,  cleaning product and also at the liquor mart.    

That being said ,  my friend did find this funny link that I wish everyone would be forced to use before going crazy for toilet paper.

Public health officials advise two additional deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported from the Winnipeg region, a female in her 90s linked to an outbreak at Maples Personal Care Home and a female in her 50s.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 8.7 per cent and 349 new cases of the virus have been identified as of 9:30 a.m. which brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 5,723.

The test positivity rate in Winnipeg is 9.9 per cent. Officials advise this number is less reliable due to the smaller sample size. Also, it does not reflect the situation in other parts of the province, as cases continue to be identified outside Winnipeg.

Of the 349 new cases, one was identified Tuesday, three were identified Wednesday, 131 were identified Thursday and 214 were identified on Friday.

 Today’s data shows:

• 33 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
• 35 cases in the Northern health region;
• 16 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
• 34 cases in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region; and
• 231 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

The data also shows:

• 3,010 active cases and 2,646 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19; and
• the number of deaths due to COVID-19 is 67.

Hospitalization and intensive care unit information is not available at this time due to data processing issues. The data is expected to be available later this evening, and will be shared by news release and posted on Twitter once available. Online dashboards will be updated tomorrow.

Laboratory testing numbers show 2,320 tests were completed yesterday, bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February to 255,942. Case investigations continue and if a public health risk is identified, the public will be notified.
