Restrictions on defensive formations:

(1) no more than five players may rush on passing plays;

(2) any player who aligns on the line of scrimmage either prior to or at the snap is designated as one of the five players regardless of whether he rushes;

(3) no defensive player may rush from a position more than two yards outside the widest offensive lineman and more than five yards from the line of scrimmage (they’ll call it the “defensive pressure box”);

(4) a player is deemed eligible to rush if he has both feet inside the box at the snap; (5) no more than four players may rush from the same side of the ball;

(6) adjacent linebackers may not rush from the same side of the ball; and

(7) two or more linebackers aligned between the offensive guards may not rush.

So, basically, up to five players can rush the passer and each of those five players must be aligned within two yards of the widest offensive lineman and five yards of the line of scrimmage. This means that there will be no corner blitzes. There will be no delayed blitzes from linebackers and safeties. There will be no double-A gap blitzes.

👁‍🗨 These restrictions are supposed to save QBs..the lifeline of any team, but holy geez, talk about borderline confusion for the refs.

Just gimmicks. Three point conversions? Why not make it another 6?

Double down! Get the ball at opposition 35, 4 downs to score 6.

Could work..

Even better, cut the field in half and only drive to one end.

So if you score a 6 point conversion to you then get to convert the conversion?   I see hilarity ensuing...

As long as you keep scoring you keep the ball!!

Gadzooks here's a thought. Scoring team takes off their shoulder pads & helmets, wear flags & if they score within 20 plays they get 10 points after a TD.  If they fail to score then  have Jesse Ventura ready to beat up the head coach. Winning coach gets to bag a cheerleader or help give birth to a hand.

You, sir, are a marketing GENIUS! Make it so!

AAF players cannot sign with CFL teams (yet):

“Only players who are free agents can attend free agent or mini-camps with CFL squads. For example, receiver and defensive back Terrell Sinkfield could ink a CFL deal because the Orlando Apollos released him. Conversely, cover man Ciante Evans was signed with the Salt Lake Stallions when the AAF folded and won’t be eligible until the legal issues are decided.”

A cautionary tale for players considering the XFL or any other start-up, like the new arena league.

wow, somethings are just wrong.

That Dundon guy is a dumb dumb. Talk about indentured servitude. He ceases operation of the league but prevents players from continuing to earn a living.

Doesn't make much sense to me. Signing a contract with a different league in a different country. What's stopping them?

Agree. Who is going to initiate the suit and pay for it?

Crappy business practice to stop players from signing with other leagues. I'd expect that part of the league going under would be the cancelling of all player contracts.

That being said a cornerstone of all leagues is honouring other leagues contracts. No one wants the NFL to ignore CFL contracts even tho they are a different league in a different country.

If the XFL has to use gimmick or gadget plays then the league is doomed.

yup, doesnt matter how many new rules you put in place. If you can't get quality players on the field you're done.

And now for something completely ridiculous..

Holy cow. Multiple forward passes is going to make it easier for referees? It seems like it would be much much much harder.

They're gonna throw all kinds of weird rules and procedures out there just to get attention. I would think that darned few are going to survive.

NFL - winning coaches get drenched in Gatorade.

XFL - losing coaches get power bombed through a table.

what happens when the XFL fails for the second time? Does trump come out and shave mcmahons head?

If I was them the only changes I would make is the ones the NFL has looked at for the future. Like wider fields, cfl style return rules etc. Give a product that's the future of American football. Also, I liked the sprint to center field for the first position vs the coin flip.

Skip the silly endless forward passes junk. You could even create excitement by heavily limiting pass rushing. But im sure they will do some thing stupid with rules.

Wouldn't the AAF be in breach of the contract by not paying the players?

Just an unbelievably unfortunate turn of events for these poor players. Just completely classless. Not only are they not going to pay them their contracted amounts but they are going to prevent anyone that has a contract with them, other than the miniscule number of players signed by the NFL, from making a living by playing football. Either pay them or let them go Dundon...FFS!

Maybe, but they would still need a legal remedy in order to void or break the contract. They could sue.

That's the same question I asked when the CFL decided not to pay players the bonus money.

IMO and I'm no lawyer... It's likely that the AAF are in breach, but that doesn't mean the contracts are automatically and quickly brought to an end. More likely that the players would have to sue, which they'd win, but that would take time.
