CALGARY @ TORONTO

Calgary @ Toronto

?‍? Some interesting game notes for this West - East confrontation..

Ricky Ray has passed for 2,282 yards - an average of 380.3 per game and has recorded a career-high 6 straight games of 300+ yards.

Andrew Buckley 10-for-10: The Calgary #2 QB challenged the CFL record last week for most pass attempts in a game without an interception or incompletion.

Home team dominance 16-8: The home team has now won the last 7 CFL games and 12 of the last 14. For the season home teams have dominated winning 16 times to just 8 losses.

West Division clubs have won the last 6, and 12 of the last 13 inter-divisional games. Toronto's record is a good example of this effect as they are 3-0 vs the East, and 0-3 vs the West in 2017.

This game features the #1 and #2 offences in the CFL with Calgary at 420.2 yards per game and Toronto at 401.5. Calgary comes in with six consecutive wins over Toronto and 7 in the last 8 meetings.

Last week the Stamps did not target McDaniel on any of their pass attempts and thus his magnificent streak of 76 straight games with at least one reception ended. He last failed to catch a pass on Aug 25/12 (and he was not targeted in that game either). ?‍?(not that they had to)

 Jerome Messam rushing: In his first 4 games he had 48 carries for 188 yards, 1 TD and an average of only 3.9 yards. Since being ejected on Jul 14/17, his totals are: 39 carries for 226 yards, 4 TDs and a 5.8 yard average.

Calgary O-Line Excellence: The Stampeders have not allowed a Sack in the last two games and just two in the last 4 contests in 2017. They went 3 games in a row last year without allowing a Sack on their QBs and over their last 22 games have given up just 20 or less than one per game. What makes it more remarkable is that 11 different players have started over this 22-game span.

 Bo Levi Mitchell 16 games in a row: Mitchell is off to a career-best start this season with a 5,496-yard pace despite sitting out the entire 2nd half last week. He is now riding a streak of 16 consecutive games with at least one TD pass (Reminder: games where a QB does not see the field at all are excluded from streak calculation as no opportunity is there to extend it). Mitchell has thrown at least one TD pass in 37 of his last 38 games.

Anthony Coombs: Over his last 3 games he made 25 receptions which is tied for #1 in the CFL for all players over Weeks #4-6.

Over his last two games Ray has not thrown an interception covering 93 straight pass attempts. He has just 3 picks in 266 throws this year.

Shawn Lemon: Has logged 4 Sacks and 9 QB Pressures over his last 5 games and ranks #3 for the season with 11 Pressures overall. His total of 15 Sacks & Pressures is tied for #1 in the CFL

Dan Lefevevour for the Argos 2018 1st rounder.

  • Toronto will have the home crowd on their side...

Long lines for drinking water. Yet they built 3 fountains. AC breaks down in Argos dressing room. Wait, wasn't Mosaic Stadium supposed to be perfect??

Wouldn't totally blame the OL... Ray has been taking an extra steamboat all season...

Maybe they'll trade for Collaros now.

So Toronto is heading to 3 and 4 and leads the East. Meanwhile 3-2 nets you 4th in the West. The inbalance continues.

Sorry to say that Mr. D is F'ed on his prediction.

thank the football gods we don't play calgary again until week 20, then we can smoke their B team in calgary and beat up a rusty stamps in the west finals :D

in comparison;

Edmonton and Calgary face each other 3x

Sask faces the stamps 2x

and BC faces them 2x

could be just what we need in the standings come november

Sure is hard not to dislike BLM, especially after that TD toss to McDaniel in the end zone, where he runs up to the guys and spews "too f...ing easy, let's go"...

Yeah but, that was contingent on Ricky Ray staying in the game, so, all bets are off...?

I'd be surprised if Nichols didn't talk **** and pump his teammates up in a similar fashion. Still, how about turning to the camera in hist post-game interview and calling out "Shawn Lemon didn't get a sack! Haha!" Dude, you still got sacked 6 times...

But not by Shawn Lemon.  That's the kind of stuff you can say when you win and a guy who has been trash talking you gets shut down.

Or inevitably let Fajardo take over.

Wouldn't be surprised if they do everything to hold on to him... b/c of Ray's age, they let Collaros and Harris walk... don't see the same thing happening with Fajardo...

In his defense... it's not like he knew the camera would pick up his voice there...

I understand that he is a "hate-able" guy... but the fact that he gets under the skin of Rider fans sooooo much... makes me like him, just a bit... know you, your enemy's enemy is your friend... or something like that...

I like BLM.  Yeah he's cocky but he's also the best.

I like the parabolic mikes they use for the Argo games to enhance crowd noise as they pick up a lot of unfiltered sounds off the field but probably not viable in any other stadium due to "real" crowd noise.

I must have missed Lemon's trash talk. For what it's worth I have no issue with trash talk on or off the field. It just enhances the drama and gives games storylines.

I just assume he trash talks every week.  And that's all BLM was doing... a little post-game trash talk.

Not to mention they played together in 2014. I figure they are buds and it goes both ways. Same as Bear Woods talking about smacking Messam around; they played together in Montreal and want to outdo their former teammate buddy. Harmless.

I dunno. Reilly is playing the best this year, IMO.

see thats what I thought.. people are all up in arms over his comment but didn't Lemon begin the trash talking about BLM saying he was gonna sack him a bunch and whatnot?  If the guy initiates the smack talk, I see no reason to fault Bo for replying in kind.

Maybe but compare their win-loss records over their career so far.  BLM is the best until proven otherwise, IMO.  Anyways my point still stands even if he is a close second to Reilly.

Where was Woods all night? Not doing much. Collected a paycheque though but never stopped Messam.

Both have won a Grey Cup.

Game high 9 tackles, 1 QB sack. For comparison, Singleton, team high 7 tackles..no sacks.

Remember when teams, coaches & players respected one another & went out of their way not to fire up or the other team's locker room? I'm Old School & miss those days.

When were those days? I recall both Dave Ritchie & Cal Murphy milking 'us against the world' for all it was worth.
