Game day thread: Montreal here

I am seeing today's game as a chance to put it all together, to start to build some momentum

Durant is a better QB than Nichols but they can both get the job done

I am expecting a lot of blitzing from Montreal but I think Lapo will have us ready to pick such apart

We might win the battle of the trenches today .... it's a matter of pride and time to step up .... and Ritchie Hall needs pressure on the QB to keep the cracks from showing up in the secondary ... it seems inevitable we are going to get beat deep a couple of times but we have to limit it to just that

How average  are our Canadians that we have starting today?

Loffler, Walker & Hurl

Chung, Goosen, JFG, Harris & Normand

I am not sure how much of an edge that is but I think it's a little bit. Our backups might be a bigger edge. How the injury bug goes may determine more than we realize.

I expect we will win because we want it more and our confidence is going to come to the forefront, finally.

Lankford is getting some results, while looking awkward doing it.

No hair is left un-split....

I'm still not convinced on Lankford.  The one he did take back was in spite of the lane he initially picked being shut down.  I put that one down to luck and speed, not returner savvy.  The great returners don't bounce around like he does.

WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM HIM THAN TO STAY HEALTHY AND SCORE TOUCHDOWNS??????

You haven't had your coffee yet, have you? lol

Pinball Clemons would like to disagree with your comment.

Jackson from the Argos was bouncing off all kinds of Bomber tacklers, and looked pretty great in doing so.   Gizmo Williams, Pinball, Stefan Logan... all those guys bounced around and were pretty good at it.  If anything, I think that's a better characteristic to have as a returner... so long as you're not constantly dancing around and then getting tackled for no gain!

I do agree though, that talking about his pace and that he's projecting to set the CFL record, is much too early.... talk like that shouldn't hold any weight until after labour day.... you wouldn't see TSN post those numbers after 4 games on 'what could be'.... we had a returner a couple of years ago that had flashes of brilliance and looked like a game breaker.... and now I can't even remember his name!!

Edit: looked it up... Troy Stoudermire

Plus, once the other CFL teams realize he's a dangerous threat, they'll treat him as they do Rainey and Banks and block the exits.

He's obviously had too much.

Lol I absolutely love the attempt to disregard Lankford's accomplishments by saying "Well, his numbers are only good because he's been healthy and scored a TD".......

Oooooookayyyyyyyyy.......right on.

have to give some credit to the coach, and the other players, when a guy does well on returns don't you?

I would agree if we had a time machine.

I disagree.  A speed guy like Lankford has to pick his spot and commit to it.

doh. you are correct..the original discussion was about return teams essentially.. and how Lankford is "best" solely because hes the only one that does returns for the bombers where as others have 1 a 1b returners..  or that he had the return TD..

so it isn't a returner versus returner conversation AND people were bashing Lankford because his stats are "skewed" in some peoples minds.. you are correct tho on the fact the ST does deserve praise for opening the holes and blocking like they do.

i remember this moment like it was 10 years ago... that standing O and Stegall Chant for like 5 mins solid was awesome.  Hope the bombers give us something huge to cheer about tonight!

Great moment! It's unfortunate that he had to set the record wearing that god-awful uniform and logo the Bombers had at the time. It would have looked much sweeter with the current uniform/logo.

any trash talk expected pregame between Kyries Hebert & Matt Nichols??  Hebert did project him to win MVP this year... tongue in cheek of course!

Ah, what a game that was. Here's the YouTube clip for anyone who wants to relive that awesomeness:

ohhhh... back when they sold games out!!   the good ol days!

Home opener this season would have been a sellout at Canad Inns so it's a tough comparison.

Back in the days of 28000 seat stadiums.

No I'm not. I'm pointing out that trumpeting Lankford's statistics after 4 games is misleading for numerous reasons. But, as I keep pointing out, he's doing better than most of the board, myself included, give him credit for.

I purposely posted those stats in my post in game notes because it should be pointed out. I've not seen too many flattering mentions on Lankford's kickoff returns, therefore I figured it had to be pointed out to show the other side.

It is a snapshot of a point in a season, just like all stats are at any point of the season.

The bolded part is exactly why it should be pointed out.

He's not last in that category, he's first.

Let's just celebrate the good..there's too little of it.
