The Expansion Draft

Do we go 8-1 or 7-3-1?

I would think that Scheif, Wheeler and Little are locks to be protected and we have to protect Enstrom and Buff because of their NMCs.

Opinions will change as the year goes on and some players play better/worse and some might be traded but right now they would go 8-1.

Wheeler

Scheif

Little

Trouba

Enstrom

Buff

Myers

Helle for a goalie but who is the 8th player we shold protect?

MP? Lowry? Armia? Dano? Copp?

I say send them a draft pick so they take Copp. A 3rd rounder or so.

Toby doing that when he has zero reason to do so (other then some odd desire to go to Vegas) is a major character move.

Enstrom is worth more than Dano, and it's really not even close.  Another case of Winnipegitis, where we over or under value a player because they are in our market and we watch them so closely.

That could be true.  But Fleury did specifically say one of the reasons he waived was because it was the right thing to do for the Pens.

I want Toby to put the Jets first too.  But he has zero obligation to do so.  He was given a contract.  He's abiding by that contract.  If he waives, its a favour he's doing for the Jets.  If he over-performed we would not expect the Jets to give him a raise mid-contract.

Yet how many players hold out when they do have a break out season.....Enstrom had a brutal year last year and wasn't great the year before...give back a little...no way Vegas takes him at 5 million...its not a big gamble  for him??but would help the Jets who have stood by him the last couple of mediocre to brutal years....

For that to make sense, Toby would have to agree that he has been mediocre to brutal.  Do you think that he feels that way?

Do you think he would say he has had a great last 2 years?

Yes probably.  I would at least expect him to believe he has earned his salary.

Sad statement but probably true..

So glad they decided they are going to release the protected lists.

Good on Enstrom...was the right thing to do.☺

If they ever want GM's to make news just institute a movement freeze.  They all go nuts and blow their brains out for a few hours and then see what their teams are left with.

Enstroms agent say's he like's it in Winnipeg does not want to go to Vegas

I'll miss Dano.

Could also mean the Jets made deal with Vegas they dont draft Toby and they make odd trade like Vegas's 9th rounder for a 3rd rounder.

Also just for clarification, no team can make trade for someone Vegas just took from them?

so would this mean Enstrom is staying and Dano is going?

Unless they want Matthias or Stuart.

Vegas wants picks. And is willing to negotiate a deal to let every team keep the players they want.

Okay but they need 22/23 with the club and 8-10 for the A. They need that many guys and so far they have 2.

I imagine they will sign a lot of free agents.

They're still going to pick 30 players but they're giving the teams a chance to hold onto that one guy they couldn't fit into 7-3-1 or 4-4-1.

That statement is bizarre.

Agreed. I'm not sure what the point is.
