Wait. THIS is a government position????  We’re ****** folks

Think about it, having their children confiscated is definitely a deterrent to families trying to sneak across the border to establish a better life (unwanted), but does nothing to stem the flow of single young men critical to states like California as field labourers (wanted), who are just another exploitable commodity.

I am convinced that the republican party is just trying to see how far they go before there is any kind of backlash against them. Really sad they can get this far and there is no end in sight.

Guess we'll see how far gone that country is, come November.

Trump is figuring out just how much power he has, and he's using it.

You are right, the Democrats have done next to nothing to stop this ****.

I can see Trump declaring martial law, if he thinks it would save his personal empire.

The democrats don't have a lot of options to do much, the fascinating part to me is watching the Republican party itself allow Trump to erode their countries core principles. Surely to god there are people in that party that care more about their country and serving the people than serving themselves and their party... but all evidence points to the contrary.

A poll found that 52% of people who identify as or lean Republican said they would support postponing the 2020 election to ensure that only eligible citizens could vote if it was proposed by President Trump.

The survey, conducted by two academics and published in the Washington Post on Thursday, interviewed a sample of 1,325 Americans from June 5-20 and focused on the 650 people who said they were or leaned toward the GOP.

I always thought that the people around Trump, the GOP and the citizens would never allow it...but now I am not so sure.  This embracing of a guy who's values are shared by the worst of society simply because he's the "right wing" choice is quite shocking.

I dont think we're slipping into an American dictatorship but if a TV writer pitched a series that depicted just that, it wouldn't be so unbelievable anymore.

Will Trump burn the Capital down and blame it on the Dems as an excuse to suspend democracy?

Everyone in Trumps orbit are slimy and dirty and that includes his kids, they all just think they are above everyone and can't be touched. One of these days you will see Trump walk out with a crown and scepter, of course it will be worse for the American people if he walks out in a fully decorated military uniform.

Trump supporters, please defend this!

The defense I'm hearing (in this case I heard it from Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Sarah Sanders) is its 1) parents of these children, 2) The countries they are coming from and 3) the Democrats who are to blame for these separations. 1) Parents because they are putting their children at risk by trying to cross the border illegally, 2)Certain countries because they have lax enforcement rules and are not stopping their citizens from trying to cross illegally into the US and finally 3) The Democrats who for years have failed to enforce the laws that have been on the books for 10+ years.

Could be the very best thing he could do for his country, it would incite a revolution which could lead to real change.

Sanders just lied outright.  Its not law to separate children.  Its Trump admin policy.  And he's using it to 1) try to prevent people from coming 2) to hold the Dems hostage to give him what he wants on immigration.  Its disgusting.

Why dont they just shoot the people coming over.  That would deter them.

No joke, that option is probably on their list.

Hard to accept, but they are already there.

The day Sergio (Mexican child) was shot, he and a group of friends were playing a game, running across the border and jumping up to touch the border fence, then scurrying back, according to court filings. Each time they crossed the river, they entered U.S. territory. The temperature reached more than 100 degrees that summer day, leaving the tunnel’s riverbed nearly dry.

Mesa, a (US) Border Patrol agent, bicycled over to stop them. Weapon drawn, he grabbed one of the boys as the rest scattered. Sergio hid behind a pillar supporting one of four international bridges that carry tens of thousands of people between El Paso and Ciudad Juárez daily. Bystanders filmed the scene from afar with their cellphones.

Some of the boys threw rocks, although the family’s attorney says Sergio wasn’t one of them. Mesa turned toward Sergio and fired twice, obliterating his left eye socket and leaving him on his back in a pool of blood, according to the Mexican homicide report. Mesa was standing in U.S. territory, but the bullet punctured Sergio’s brain 36 feet away, in Mexico. (dead)

The U.S. Department of Justice ― in conjunction with local federal prosecutors, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security ― declined to prosecute Mesa. That’s par for the course: criminal prosecutions for cross-border shootings are virtually nonexistent.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but the U.S. is pulling of the UN Human Rights Council.  These bloody morons are no longer even hiding the fact that they are corrupt and act like they are above international law.

Why are kids playing like that on the border? They should know by now that trigger happy shoot first, ask question later border guards will open fire. Parents should be telling kids not to do any of that.  To stay away & not provoke them by throwing rocks. Hey kids are kids but kids don't do that on the Russian border today or didn't in old Cold War Europe when there was an Iron Curtain. They knew what would happen.
