US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

There was a documentary, The Corporation, that went on to say that if corporations are people, they broke down their behaviour, and came to the conclusion they were psychopaths.

Solid documentary. Wow, it's almost 20 yrs old.

I highly recommend it.

Trailer here:

If it interests anyone, you can watch it in it's entirety.

If a true progressive party were to emerge in the USA, they would just siphon off votes from the Democrats and the GQP will always be in power.

What the USA needs to become more progressive is for an ÜBER right-wing party to form from a fractured GQP... then the Dems would probably slide more left.

Do you think so? Or would "moderate" Republicans stop voting for bullshit because they're afraid of socialists?

I do, there are some moderate republicans. I don't feel that the Democrats will gain a crazy amount of sane republicans.... but I do think that a fractured GQP would benefit the Democrats.

Where are these sane republicans? They need to be louder to drown out the insane drivel spewing from people who support people like Boebert, Greene, Cotton, Gaetz, Hawley etc.

Anyone who isn't a in the Republican party is a socialist, communist, pinko. No way they vote Democratic, even if all the pinkos leave.

Sorry guys, you can't paint ALL republicans as batshit ******* crazy because of Boebert, Greene, Cotton, Gaetz, Hawley, nor that every republican sees ALL non-republicans as socialist, communist, pinko. What you are saying here is the same messaging as fox and all, from the left POV.

good thing it's a mid-term year...congress only gets a two year term

The existence of only two parties lends itself to the Us vs. Them narrative. But you add a third option that gets harder.

No I’m actually being serious. Where are they because of course I know their there and they’re sane but it seems they are being drowned out by the craziness and unfairly guilty by association. There are sane good people all over the political spectrum. That’s who I want to be associated with.

Trump's presidency was a disaster. Absolutely, batsh*t crazy, disaster.

And, yet, polling suggests he would win the next election.

I'm pretty darn sure anyone who would leave the party for Democrats is already gone.

The Republicans who have remained silent while their colleagues have spewed vile racist, misogynist hateful statements with Fox News amplifying and validating their hatespeech are as guilty as the perpetrators. Someone said that the hottest part of Hell is reserved for those who, in times of crisis, say and do nothing.

I have to agree with this as well. Where are the sane people who vote republican denouncing all of this with a strong collective voice? They're probably groups doing this already, just need more of them, active and loud.

There is definitely cowardice as well here. One of the GOP senators who fled the Capitol during the riot said that he feared for his life if he spoke out after his office received a threat to that effect. If America cannot protect its legislators, who is safe??

Donald Trump JR. is practically begging the DOJ to throw him in jail, with the new text messages that were revealed today, maybe the DOJ starts to wake up

Texas Woman, 26, Charged With Murder After Alleged 'Self-Induced Abortion'

A 26-year-old Texas woman has been arrested and charged with murder after authorities said she had a “self-induced abortion.” The extreme move comes after Texas passed a draconian anti-abortion law last year that has forced thousands of women to seek care out of state.

Lizelle Herrera was arrested Thursday when officials said she “intentionally and knowingly cause[d] the death of an individual by self-induced abortion,” according to a spokesperson for the Starr County Sheriff’s Office.

No details about the “abortion” or fetus were provided. Herrera was still in custody Friday. Her bail was set at $500,000, according to Valley Central, which was the first to report the arrest.

Fox News’s Will Cain: ‘Disney Is Turning Your Kids Gay’

The Right Wing’s obsession and terror with the Zoomer generation and Gen Z’s exploration of different self-identity through an LGBTQ prism continue apace. Today, Fox News’s Will Cain pointed directly to Disney content as on proximate cause of what some of us see as evolution, while the Right sees nothing but dissolution in all they ever thought to believe.

At issue, this morning on Fox and Friends was a leaked zoom call message in which the child of Disney executive, Karey Burke, claimed her son texted that “Gen Z is 30% to 40% queerer than other generations Mom, so Disney better get with it.”

Of course, it couldn’t be thrown away as one statement by one teen with the realization that any one teen is capable of saying any one stupid thing at any given time, which may or may not have any bearing upon reality. The message was very intentionally picked up upon by wedge issue specialist Christopher Rufo, who made Critical Race Theory Virginia’s single biggest issue and threat during Glenn Youngkin’s race for governor and the Disney-LGBTQ link is now being used to scare the living spit out of Fox-watching grandparents everywhere.

Cain then set about to freak out over a new Gallup Poll that says one in five of the Gen Z generation identifies as LGBTQ.

“What does it entail? What does it encompass? What is more interesting to me is why? Is it because, you know, they are true of this persuasion, or is it because it’s a chicken or egg theme? They are being fed these messages over and over from places like Disney and now the numbers are going up?”

Trump campaign implicated in Jan. 6 election scheme

On Friday, CNN's Annie Grayer reported that David Shafer, a Republican from Georgia who served on the list of "alternative" electors declaring former President Donald Trump the winner of the state, told the House January 6 Committee that the Trump campaign gave the order for the Georgia Republican Party to create the fake elector slate.
All told, 84 people allowed their names to be put forward as fake electors in the scheme, which included slates from Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — all states won by President Joe Biden. The fake electors included eight current office holders and five former office holders.

The fake electors were part of a bizarre legal strategy put forward by far-right Trump attorney John Eastman, who argued that if there were "competing" slates of electors, former Vice President Mike Pence could declare during the Electoral College counting process that there was no way of proving which set of electors was valid for these states and throw out the election results entirely, kicking the decision for president to the House of Representatives, where Republicans controlled a majority of the delegations needed to declare Trump the winner even though Democrats had a majority of representatives overall.

Most experts believe this plan would have been illegal, as did Pence himself, who refused to go through with it.

Sure Biden makes a few mistakes and screws up a few things but this guy is a disaster with the English language. Forget all criminality, forget the name calling you should be able to speak and have the reading ability higher than a 5 year old to be POTUS

Just goes to show you that a certain segment of the American public have no morals left and they respect nothing anymore, its a race to who can be the crudest and cruelest.

These stupid fucks honestly think people being LBGTQ etc is brand new and a trend...not realizing people who know they belong to these groups have always been around...it's just before they'd get a **** kicking or worse for admitting it. ******* idiots.

And celebrate it.

Trump now claims that he is the most honest person that God created, lap it up dummies and open your wallets. America has to have some of the dumbest people God created.

1/6 Committee says it has enough to indict Trump but some members don't think it's the right move and it would look political, stop wasting peoples time either indict or disband and wait for the republicans to take over and come after you.
