RB's promptly march the other 102 yards for TD.... Easy 2 pt. convert. RedBlacks 8-0. Next series...Burris bombs away to Jackson..... ..this leads to another TD...70 yds in 4 plays. Even easier 2 pointer.....has Ott. up by 16. Bomber D struggling with Burris play action calls..... Nichols making poor throws....Blue O sputtering.... Bomber receivers struggling to get open...... Burris throws a 2nd down incompletion.... ...and actually looks pretty surprised.... Coming up on 4 PM.....Game started at 3. ...Someone needs to inform the Bomber bench.... Nichols tries a long pass to a well covered Kolhert.... ....which is bad pick number 2. Bomber O throws a series of 4 yd passes.....some boos.... Things surprisingly cold.....so is the weather. Bombers look slow and rusty in most areas.... Medlock hits for 3...with 40 sec. to go. Johnson picks off Burris...5 sec later - but O does nothing. Well, it is the CFL....and Bombers are only down 14 at the half. Blue move into RB territory...but Nichols throws bad INT #3. Ottawa playing for 1st. Bombers playing? Fake punt- direct hand off to Briggs...results in Blue turnover #4 Andrew Harris is a safety valve on O....in many more ways than one.. Blue moves into RedBlack end again...... ....but Harris is stuffed on a 3rd and 2. Turnover #5 Bombers being hoisted with their own petard..... Ottawa O cooling off..... Bomber O still ice cold... Medlock's punting not real good today.. Denmark catches pass 2 yd from marker...just goes down Smith catches 2nd down pass..and runs backwards.... the ole Dink and dink O...not meeting with crowd approval.... What is with the coaching staff's fascination with Smith? Burris long pass to Ellington sets up FG...23-3 Ottawa Bomber D righted the ship, somewhat in 2nd half... Bomber O still taking on water..... Next series Nichols sacked...then sacked again...... A. Harris still working it. He could use more company. Harris catches and runs.... gets ball down into RB end.... Ottawa has 125 run yards...most of it on 2 busts in gap coverage. Nichols throws TD pass to Adams to cap102 yd consolation drive. ...but don't be fooled...Nichols real bad today. Bombers lose control of their own destiny... Bombers lose chance to end home field on high note... Bombers lose chance to build momentum... Do or die takes this chance...to drink more gin..... ..after all, somebody had to get something done. blueandgoldguy Posted October 30, 2016 Report Share Posted October 30, 2016 While Nichols is an improvement on Willy he is still nothing more than the 7th or 8th best QB in the league. Unless the Bombers have a dominant run game and dominant defense (they have neither) like they did in 1990 they will not be a win a Grey Cup with him at QB. He was particularly harsh on Nichols and Richie Hall and quoted Burris as saying that Sinopoli was open behind the Bomber SAM linebacker all night but the Bomber defence was so loose that they didn't need him.
