USABomberfan got a reaction from blitzmore in O'Shea hands away the LDC
I don't think us "Fans" as a whole hate on O'Shea, this resurrection dude just showed up out of nowhere today and started this crap, and raved in the chat room from what I hear (I wasn't in there during the game).

I think where some of this has come from though is an anti-play-not-to-lose mantra that's taken a hold of us fans here, something that did seem to be evident in the Lapolice and Burke eras, and I understand that, and yeah I don't think we should have any more of that either.

But at the same time, you absolutely have to play smart football.  There is a HUGE difference between playing not to lose and playing smart football, and I believe so far O'Shea's done a good job of calling smart football.  Yeah there are times when you need to make some gutsy calls, but when you're a first year head coach rebuilding a team that's been driven into the ground by inept predecessors, calls like taking the points on at least an 80% chance the FG is made to take a sure lead, and giving your D a chance to win it for you, regardless of it they do or not, is better than damaging your team's confidence by taking a 50/50 gamble at that point and not converting.

Think it was Mike Kelly who kept on taking those crazy gambles on 3rd down when he was here.  Among other things he did wrong, that kind of craziness definitely killed the team's will to win when they didn't work, and hence why you gotta be gutsy sometimes, but within reason.

I told you all in chat, blaming the loss on not going for it is absolutely stupid. The defense needed one stop, instead they let the Riders march the entire field to score... I'll say it again for the slow people, the defense let the riders march the entire length of the field to score. blame them for not being able to get a stop when needed nothing else. It came down to them in crunch time and they failed.

You guys that are in hysterics have to calm down and realize that was one of the best games of the year in the CFL where two teams fought hard and in the end it came down to whomever had the ball last.

Officials be damned, gambles be damned, if we had more time we would have marched down the field and scored too.

Both teams exposed weaknesses, so how come we're the only ones who have bad players?

Does anybody now believe that we can't go into a playoff situation against this team and win?

I saw a damned good effort out there and the Roughriders knew they were in a game today.

All I can say is all because MTL is in 2nd, Higgins's job is safe for now.  I just gotta shake my head at this though.

Only ad that ever runs on that site is on the sawlive.tv player which is used to view the games on, but that's easily blocked with ad-blocking software.  Quality's been tested too and from now on, all CFL games casted should be in good quality.  Not HD, but watchable.

    ENOUGH!!!!!

    of the railing on Bellefeuille.

    What is this?

Bellfeuille is too conservative blah blah blah, or he doesn't run the ball enough blah blah blah.  I seen posters saying all kinds of crap about him, and there's a lot of it that doesn't even make any damn sense.

Does the offense always look sharp this year?  No, but I think it's heaps and bounds better than the trash we've had to put up with for the last few years.  Now I understand with how bad Gary Crowton was last year, maybe Bellefeuille's measuring stick is a little lower than some others around the league, but I think he's done a pretty good job overall of being balanced between conservative and aggressive which is what you need to be.

Let's also not forget, when your QB is getting pressured, you have to call plays that either rely on your runningback or get the ball out of your QB's hands quicker.

I almost find it funny, everyone let's the epitome of conservativism that clown Lapolice off the hook all the time for his silly attempts to stifle Buck Pierce and Joey Elliot and not let them use their big strong arms, and the grievous 1 yard passes called on 2nd and manageable.  Yet when Bellefeuille at least does a better job of letting Willy make his reads down the field despite pressure in his face, he gets ragged on for it.  SMH.

Willy is a direct representative of his OC.. and willy hasnt looked out of place as a starter at all... An OC caters his playcalling to his players and for the most part the offense has had some very good games with some rough patches worked in..
Marcel B may not be a godsend but hes solid.. He knows the game, he can make adjustments.. We can win with him without question.. so id rank him at above average but not closer to the elite scale... Closer to the medium notch..
With that being said, hes made me change my opinion of him.. I used to think he was a hack.. But hes a talented guy who knows the CFL, give him some respect. Hes earned it..

Thought he adjusted ok in Toronto.  Willy hasn't played very good the last 2 weeks.  Thought Willy was a bit tentative at times in Toronto.  Needed to attack that D vertically when Burke kept blitzing the safety and one LB, tried a few times, but not enough.  I'm sure those options were there based on what Willy read pre-snap, but he was a little gun-shy.

Can't criticize run calls, our back stinks and when you're running zone blocking, you can't have a RB who waits for a 5 yard gap to make a cut.

Considering the personnel limitations, our offense is ridiculously good to this point.  Liked that they actually scored 7's in the redzone in Toronto too.

    Yup, exactly this.

I mentioned the media because knee-jerk reactions like that seem to come from them when things start going wrong.  I tend to think some of them just don't understand how the CFL works, and I know a few of them are pretty clueless as to what goes on.

Fortunately, I tend to think not as many people here buy into all their crap as some have done in other markets, but still you hate seeing things blown out of proportion by them when things, at least for a good bit of my vantage point, seem to overall be moving in the right direction.

I'm afraid that clown Gary Lawless has too many followers on here.  Him, and a bunch of other nuts called the local Winnipeg media try and pull the emergency cords whenever any sign of setbacks comes out.  I haven't visited the WFP site or listened to CJOB today, but wouldn't be surprised if someone said something dumb or reactionary to that.  I had said earlier this year, the team just as it started on winning streaks will have its losing streaks too, we as fans need to realize and accept that.  I'd love to see big wins like opening night and the big road win in BC Place every week, but we gotta be realistic about that and realize that just isn't going to happen every week.  Especially with a team as young as ours.  The way I see it, these players have a lot of learning to do, and from watching last night's game and going over other film, I more than believe they will learn lots from it.  At this point, no need to do anything extreme.  The O-line will need to improve, but get them healthy, maybe make an addition or 2 over the offseason this year, and I think we got an O-line of Grey Cup caliber heading into 2015.

Come on man, that's just stupid talk.  I mean hey, I don't think this team is Grey Cup ready or ready to win the west yet, but no wins out of the 10 games we got left?  I mean, we got the Montreal circus show coming to town next week, and we play Ottawa again as well, those smell like pretty good wins to me.  We got Hamilton again, and yeah I know they're not as bad as the 1-5 record they sit holding, but it's not like they're a juggernaut right now either.

If we finish the season with only 8 wins, fine, means this team's youth and inexperience caught up to them, but that's a hell of a lot better than we've seen mostly around here lately.  But this is not the 2013 Bombers, and I got more than enough reason to think O'Shea will pull more wins out before this season is over.

I don't know why the general feeling around this forum this last week was that the Argos were just gonna go down easy.  They had extra time to prepare and after getting ripped apart by us week 1, they weren't about to let that happen again.  Sure their O has had limited targets with all those injuries, but it's not like Ray wouldn't find some chemistry eventually with a few guys.  The O-line is in need of some help for sure, Willy keeps taking the hits and while nearly every QB does, these are starting to get dangerous and if something doesn't happen to protect him better, he won't be making it through this season.  Keeping him healthy enough to play all the way through is vital to keeping the continuity here.

That being said, I'm hoping this little bit of rest period we got here will be a help to get some players like Nick Moore back in the lineup or somebody else to try and lengthen the weapons we got.  I'm also not so sure about keeping Romby Bryant around either.  Sure he probably won't fumble like that every game, but I don't feel as though he's on the big playmaking level he once was, hence why the Stampeders let him go.  Also, I know Watson started this game and scored early, but he seems to have been used limitedly most of the way after.

We got the awful als next, and given their level of dysfunction, this oughtta be a fairly easy win, but our stinkfest 3-15 team took two wins against their 8-10 team last year, and it wouldn't be impossible for them to steal one against us either.

Anyways, not pushing the panic button or anything, I think a win period will get the team back in better spirits, but they definitely need one now.
