  1. How do you know that - are you his agent? Where is he going to go? NFL - not a chance - not after this year, and last I checked everyone else has a kicker.
  2. All depends on what the '3 year plan' was though doesn't it?
  3. He stays. No question about it in my mind, hell he will even come cheaper now. He is kicking himself into a very Bomber Friendly contract these days. I agree that he should be kept around. Agreed as well - he's struggling right now and I'd put that to the 'sophomore jinx'. He proved last year he's a fine kicker. Maybe if we can find a punter that will allow LIram to concentrate just on the place kicking aspect - he seemed to be doing very well when Renaud was around to punt.
  4. No we weren't. How can you say that. Did the official block Liram's kick? He had a 49 yard field goal attempt he should have made. Period. Edmonton got 'screwed by the refs' even more with that bogus PI call on Willis (an obvious makeup call) and their three week old kicker kicked a 53 yarder (4 yards farther back) into the wind - so I fail to see this point. GOOD TEAMS find a way to win, and BAD TEAMS find a way to lose. Bombers are the latter, they always find a way to lose
  5. What gets me still is Ottawa is in their second season and have a much better roster than us. How does that happen? And the fact that we are signing their cast offs tells me why we are where we are. Why can't we recruit anymore. QB's have been our Achilles heel for decades but our RB's have been money. Now that's dried up too.
  6. Well good for ole Mike - like Goalie says - what's he supposed to say. One thing for sure - if we're blown out in B.C. in 'playoff mode' - things are going to get might ugly for him in the post game press conference. I for one would say to him "Wow Mike, good thing we're in playoff mode as just think how bad it would been otherwise..........." then I'd leave the room laughing all the way
  7. I get what the OP is saying. It's better than getting blown out - bombers are showing fight. But they need to play like that on the road too. Not just at home. They go on the road and get blown out - the come home, entertain the fans, but still find a way to lose. Nice to see all the empty seats - now the pressure will be on.
  8. Yep and that's what he does. I think it was Dunnigan that said it best - he's the new Kevin Glenn. He's the 'super sub'. He's better than a backup QB but he's not the guy that can lead your team. But truth be told - it's hard to say. Drew Willy hasn't really led this team anywhere either. I said in another thread - the Bombers since their 5 - 1 start are 6 - 20. Drew Willy has started the majority of those games. Willy was absolutely terrible down the stretch last year. This year, up to his injury, he was IMO much much better - but we still were below (or at) .500 when he went down with injury, beating only Sask and B.C. IIRC. In other words.............. I don't think it's the quarterback
  9. After the 5 -1 start last year, bombers are now 6 - 20. I'm not an advocate of firing coaches every year - and IMO if we keep this record going like it is, I believe O'Shea is on a three year(?) someone correct me if I'm wrong but give him a new OC and tell him, next year - if we don't make the playoffs, he won't be coming back as coach. I'd tell him that before TC even started so if he decided he didn't want to work under that pressure he could resign now. I know most of you want him gone now (or at the end of the year) but other than Mike Benevides - who I don't think would be any better - I don't know who else you'd bring it.
  10. Still wet behind the ears? The guy is a pro football player not a little kid. He gets paid to kick field goals. Excuses. I'm on record many times saying that the BS call against us last week in the Calgary game had no bearing on the outcome. Liram's missed 49 yard field goal did. A bonafide #1 kicker will make that kick (and it's not a 50/50) probably 90% of the time given the weather conditions and not withstanding variables out of the kickers control such as a bad snap, bad hold, or a missed blocking assignment. This week unfortunately proved me right as Liram has really lost his confidence. He makes all his kicks we have an additional 12 points on the board ( 5 x 3 = 15 he made 1 of 5 for 3 points plus we got a point for one of his misses so that's a two pointer but he made up for that by missing yet another extra point so there's the 12 missing points). With those 12 points we win the game even if Reilly manages a TD march and tacks on an extra 2. But - I'm still a Liram fan - I think if he gets through this he'll be a bomber kicker that can be up there with Trevor Kennard and yes even Troy Westwood who in his prime was very consistent and made the big kicks when we needed them a lot more than 50/50. It wasn't till the end of his career when he got inconsistent and mouthy did his reputation start to get tarnished. That being said - bombers better bring in some competition for Liram - and not an import - for next year. And Liram has to get rid of the yips or else he will be unemployed next year.
  11. Why? And no I'm not always right. But all this sniveling is ridiculous. "Ohhh the ref lost us the game wha wha wha". I said it then and still stand by it. Liram is paid to MAKE THOSE KICKS. He's not paid to kick 4 out of 5 extra points and hit field goals inside 40 yards when they don't matter. What's wrong Mr.Dee - can't admit when you're wrong? I can.
  12. I'm watching Hockey now - will be fully vested when the season starts in less than two weeks. I agree it was a chincy call but the player was not on the line. Only issue I have with the call is the lateness of the flag. I agree with other posters here - the line judge watches the line from the sideline, and usually throws the flag right away. Only thing I can think of is he confirmed with the line judge from the other side first. i.e. he didn't want to throw a flag if a bomber receiver from the opposite end was on the line - thus negating the call. When the other sideline judge said no, he threw the flag. No different than the Sk too many men penalty in the G.C. a few years back. But here's how I see it, the bombers were playing the defending Grey Cup champs and now, with the loss of Collaros, the best team in the league. They hung with them all game, really fought it out. Those guys complaining about the Bombers O - hey that's a Rich Stubler Defense, and Rich knows Nichols very well. He made his adjustments and it took the bombers a while to figure out what to do. That's why they're the CHAMPS. Good on Wpg! I expected a blow out and instead was treated to a close game that had a heartbreak ending. If the bombers had played that way a few more times, it wouldn't have been a must win. It still wasn't IMO - B.C. will be slaughtered by the Eskimos today. Bombers still, have a good chance. They just gotta keep playing this way every week. If they do, they'll win their share of games. If they lay an egg last week, it's on THEM - not an official. You're allowed to be one yard back from the line. That's in the rule book. The pictures clearly show him half a yard back, in line with the tackles (who were aT least in line with Nichols). While I'm not convinced it's a conspiracy....it was 100% the wrong call. Yep it is. But you know, a 'good' team will make that 49 yard field goal. Also, we have absolutely no idea what would have happened after that play if the officials let the play stand. Nichols could have been sacked twice for big yardage loss, or they could have turned the ball over. Just because they get the first down doesn't mean they win. I like Liram, I think he'll be a star, but I just saw the guy he replaced and was out of football for TWO years come in and kick a 50 yard field last night in an Ottawa loss (Justin Palardy). To me, the call was irrelevant - the BOMBERS lost that game, not the officials. Liram is paid to make those kicks, he's not paid to make garbage field goals and 3 out of 4 extra points. He failed ,HE lost the game. You're being a bit over-zealous here. At best a 50 plus yd. FG is a 50/50 proposition for any kicker, especially accounting for wind variations. So you would have felt comfortable giving the ball back to Calgary with a minute left needing only a single? I wouldn't have been. And I also would not have been too comfortable going to overtime against them. The call killed a drive we had extended, giving us pretty much the rest of regulation time to find a way to get to the end zone. Maybe - but it doesn't matter. Officials don't lose a team games. The players do. Liam kicks the field goal, it's tied, and we have no idea what happens after. Officials don't throw the flag - we have no idea what happens on 1st and 10 - it's just as likely - based on the bombers play I'll call it a 50/50 proposition - that Calgary sacks Nichols and strips him of the ball - or forces a bad throw for an interception - as it is for Nihcols to throw a TD pass and win the game (but then Calgary still has time to come back so who knows there ) There are so many variables in a game. There's missed assignments, mis-reads, dropped passes, bad throws, fumbles, wrong play calls, and botch calls by officials. Sorry guys, hate to say it, but you all sound like a bunch of whinny elementary school kids. Here's another saying for you - a good team will put it behind them and focus on the next game. The Eskimos are in town, and Reilly is struggling big time, but the Esk defense is a beast and I still feel the best defense in the league. Bomber aren't out of it but they need a win on Friday - no excuses. And you all know, as well as I and the bombers, that the Officiating is 3rd rate in this league, so don't put yourself in a position for a botched call by the officials. If anything, the bombers should get some 'favourable' calls on Friday - so lets see what happens. No but they did a good job in trying to decide the outcome No they don't - and again my point is 100% confirmed. Eskimos got jobbed big time on Odell Willis' PI call - yet who won the game? Kicking a field goal LONGER than what Liram had to kick last week against Calgary no less! Hey - I still stand by my statement. Ladies at book of the month clubs whine and snivel about things they can't control. MEN roll up their sleeves and do something about it. Eskimos are MEN. Bombers - what's the book this month?
  13. Some fella named Palardy did the same for the Argos a couple of weeks ago and he had been stone cold for almost 2 years. Hey Hey Hey - wait a minute - there Long throw - isn't a field goal 50/50 at best? I said it last week to all the cry babies here about the officiating - WE Lost to Calgary - not the officials. WE still had a chance to kick a game tying field goal but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it's not poor poor LIram's fault that he missed a 49 yarder, that's a 50/50 isn't it. L M A O I told you last week WE Lost And you guys should hear the Eskimo fans. What a B.S. Pass Interference call. But hey - we bomber fans got what we wanted - a make up call at the end of the game. And look what we did with it? Bottom line - good teams find a way to win and crap teams find ways to lose. For one, I don't want to read one more post on here about how an official robbed us of a win. Doesn't happen. Players decide it. Last week the Bomber C-H-0-K-E-D. This week, from 4 yards farther back, a kicker who hasn't kicked in two months and only been kicking for three weeks walks in and nails a 53 yard field goal to win it - IN SPITE of a BS call that went against them. 'Nuff said.
  14. From todays Edmonton Journal: "This is a position where if you're looking over your shoulder, any time you make a mistake you're going to get pulled from a game, you're probably going to make more mistakes.........." "It was obviously incredibly frustrating when you're 5 - 2 as a starter for a team and you're getting pulled from games when you're winning. That's just kind of weird for me." "When you're getting pulled from games and you're winning... I think that was a message to me that they didn't believe in what I was doing" And my fav "It's been a crazy season, I wish I would have had a heads up that I was going to be traded to Winnipeg. I might have thrown a few pick sixes earlier in that game and throwing that game against Winnipeg would have been nice" I don't know about you guys, but I think Mr.Nichols has a chip on his shoulder the size of WEM (West Edmonton Mall) and I'd be shocked if he didn't have greatest performance as a starter today. He's motivated and I'll bet the rest of the team will feed of that. I just hope he doesn't get hurt.
  15. You guys have watched Matt Nichols now for what - a month? I've watched him for 6 years (well 4 and a half due to injury). Problem here is people are being swayed a bit by us actually having a backup QB. You should be comparing Matt Nichols to the real incumbents - from Ryan Dinwiddie to Tee Martin to Elliot to Brink to Marve to Brohm. THAT's the glasses people are looking through and subbing Willy's name in there lmao. Nichols is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> better than ANY bomber QB recruited here over the past 10 years - definitely. He is NOT better than Willy - there is a clear drop off there for sure. He is not more mobile than Willy either. He just plays a different style. Nichols is definitely a backup QB in this league. A very good backup don't get me wrong, but a backup nevertheless. And I for one hope we do sign him as after twenty plus years I have totally given up on the bombers ever recruiting and developing their own quarterback - just won't happen
  16. Hope we can put this to bed now. Done deal. Good luck to Henoc in Montreal and time to move on
  17. True that - but only here in Commonwealth do the Bombers absolutely suck butt. I did see them play two great games here - two - the loss to Dan Crowley which was also Khari Jones' coming out party (51 to 49 or something like that was the final score) and the infamous Milt Stegall TD (and that wasn't a great game, just a great ending). Other than those two games, it's like, I dunno - I'd get it if Edmonton were Montreal with tons of distractions downtown but it's definitely not. However, at home, the bombers play more consistent against the Eskimos. Still struggle at times but usually they give them a game (and even win a few). I'm hopeful that we can pull of a win. Not the end of the world for me if the Eskimos win the game though as they are my second fav, but they're still 2nd in my books AND they have 2nd pretty much locked up in the West. So I'm going to be optimistic on this game. What happens if we lose though? Do we pack it in and start airlifting in players to see who we can bring in next year full time? Or too early yet? How can you stand living in Edmonton with all the socialist hordes? LMAO - it ain't easy Iso trust me
  18. True that - but only here in Commonwealth do the Bombers absolutely suck butt. 19. Edmonton is struggling offensively - well Reilly is. Not surprising since he missed most of the season being hurt in the first half of the first game. We'll have to see if the Bombers are the ticket to get Reilly going (trust me that's the sentiment I'm getting here in Edmonton as it's expected Reilly will have a big game) or is it an opportunity for Winnipeg to beat a top Western team? Montreal is struggling - Crompton is proving Mr. Perfect 100% right that he's not a very good QB (just a very lucky one) and Cato is messed up a bit emotionally right now so not sure how effective he can be. But Winnipeg needs to win at least two more games this year to have a shot - and no time like the present to get it started. At worst I'm expecting another good game with the Bombers in it till the end. I do think though that if anyone knows how to beat a Chris Jones Defense it's a QB who's been practicing against it over the last two years. NIchols is our Ace in the Hole and if he has a big game we can win this one easily.
  20. Yep - it's amazing how threads can be derailed. I find the same thing on a lot of these threads - easy for things to go off topic. But don't forget the title of the thread here - it is about Noel as much as it is O'Shea and the conversation drifted that way a bit. But you're right and I do apoligize for my involvement in derailing it
  21. You're also an Edmonton fan so your opinion isn't valid. I disagree completely. To you maybe, but take a poll in Winnipeg - go ahead. I know who'd win. But sorry to disappoint, a lot more Oiler fans in Saskatoon then there are in Wpg. The Oilers play the Wild on Saturday afternoon in Saskatoon, so my guess is that's where McDavid will play (McLellan already said McDavid won't play both games). But the star player in the NHL is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> over the CFL. All I see here is people trying to sell their tickets at 1/2 face value for a bomber game - with no takers (see the one super fan here looking for bomber tickets but not willing to pay face value). Fans were paying their own way to Pentiction just for a chance to see McDavid. 'nuff said. you have a problem with me looking for tickets to a bomber game for cheap? Pretty dickish comment. For the record ive seen a total of 5 people selling tickets and 2 are at face value. im a member of 5 cfl and bomber fb groups and the forums so your info... as per usual.. is flawed. Really Spuds? How is it flawed? First off, it's not a 'dickish' comment. It's fact. Period. YOU take it any way YOU want. What, feeling 'guilty' now. Tell me where I'm wrong, go ahead. A buddy of mine has 3 pairs of Oilers seaons tickets. It's an investment, he's had them for years. He usually breaks even or loses a bit of money (as the Oiler lose over and over as the season progresses). This year, in only PRE SEASON games, he's sold out his tickets - for $1600. He can't believe it himself. YOU, a BOMBER FAN, are wiling to buy tickets but only on the cheap. 1. I don't blame you, and it's a fact you are and 2. You'll NEVER get an Oiler ticket on the cheap, not here, not in Winnipeg, not in Calgary, not in Vancouver. Those are all facts, and it's a majority. Maybe not here on this forum, but facts are facts. I guess the truth hurts, don't it? Though not sure why. Just admit it and move on please. It's worth noting that Oiler tickets to most games have been had for considerably less than face value the past 2 - 3 seasons on sites such as StubHub. I heard this from a few posters on the Oilers page of the HfBoards. you didn't read my post. Read it again - towards the end of the year you couldn't give the tickets away. I wouldn't have gone to an Oiler game for free a year ago (no such thing anyway as by the time you pay for parking / food/ drink it's far from free lol). I'm talking this year. This year you can't buy a ticket a face value unless you happen across one. Besides, looks like I was right anyway - seems a lot of Winnipeggers stayed home or (more likely) went to the Jets game. And btw - my comment originally was meant as Winnipegger preferring hockey to Football. From what I've heard you can't get a Jet ticket 'cheap' unless you're buying directly through the Jets (via ticket master) and there is a waiting list for season's tickets. And again - not blaming anyone, I wouldn't pay full value for watching the Oilers last year, nor would I pay full value to watch the Bombers this year (well I kind of do I'm an Esk season ticket holder but we don't pay face value for the tickets - and we get a playoff ticket thrown in if they make it and host a game which the Esks will for sure this year). As for McDavid and the 'wait and see' - I agree. And Goalie you could be wrong - the Oilers 'could' screw it up' IF they had the same dog and pony show running things. You might have missed it Goalie - MacT and former crappy Jet dman Dallas Eakins are OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT and we have a real coach in McLellan and a recent Stanley Cup GM in Peter Chiarelli running things now. They won't 'screw him up' trust me on that. Though personally I was always a Jack Eichel fan and I still think he might turn out to be the star but McDavid has a Gretzky like way about him - he's very humble and very reserved and most importantly he's very genuine about it. My fav story of his was when Sherry Bassin first brought him to Erie - McDavid was wearing his Toronto Marlies jacket and Sherry tried to give him an Erie Otters one (this was after they drafted him as a 15 year old) and McDavid replied "No sir, I can't take that as I haven't made your team yet". He did the same thing here - He was offered to stay at Andrew Ference's house when Rookie camp started but McDavid immediately refused - he insisted on staying with the rest of the rookies in the hotel with a roomie - he wants no special treatment whatsoever and takes nothing for granted. He's the real deal - and he is a star. And people will pay big bucks to see him - I guarantee you when his first game is in Wpg - check out the stubhub prices and see what people are asking for and getting for those seats compared to other games.
  22. Too bad about Marve - he had a nice flare about him. Imagine how good he could have been had he not had all those injury problems. He followed his dream though and his Dad got to watch him start in a professional game - so the story still had a happy ending.
  23. Haven't heard anything here but tbh been more worried about the Oilers. Once Henoc is up to speed J.C. Sherrit could be moved out Dexter McCoils' spot (he'll be going to NFL next year)- you're not paying this guy 200k to be a special teamer - and at MLB he too is a ratio buster. Will be nice to see him playing at Commonwealth but I've said it all along - Sam Hurl is turning into a very solid MLB and he's getting better every day. Plus - he doesn't have NFL aspirations so no dreams are 'lost' there. I don't think Henoc will be as affective a player as he was before he went to the NFL. Luckily for him with Edmonton's defense he doesn't have to be all world like he would have to in Winnipeg - he just needs to be a solid player and the rest will take care of itself. Smart choice by him
