  1. I'm watching Hockey now - will be fully vested when the season starts in less than two weeks. I agree it was a chincy call but the player was not on the line. Only issue I have with the call is the lateness of the flag. I agree with other posters here - the line judge watches the line from the sideline, and usually throws the flag right away. Only thing I can think of is he confirmed with the line judge from the other side first. i.e. he didn't want to throw a flag if a bomber receiver from the opposite end was on the line - thus negating the call. When the other sideline judge said no, he threw the flag. No different than the Sk too many men penalty in the G.C. a few years back. But here's how I see it, the bombers were playing the defending Grey Cup champs and now, with the loss of Collaros, the best team in the league. They hung with them all game, really fought it out. Those guys complaining about the Bombers O - hey that's a Rich Stubler Defense, and Rich knows Nichols very well. He made his adjustments and it took the bombers a while to figure out what to do. That's why they're the CHAMPS. Good on Wpg! I expected a blow out and instead was treated to a close game that had a heartbreak ending. If the bombers had played that way a few more times, it wouldn't have been a must win. It still wasn't IMO - B.C. will be slaughtered by the Eskimos today. Bombers still, have a good chance. They just gotta keep playing this way every week. If they do, they'll win their share of games. If they lay an egg last week, it's on THEM - not an official. You're allowed to be one yard back from the line. That's in the rule book. The pictures clearly show him half a yard back, in line with the tackles (who were aT least in line with Nichols). While I'm not convinced it's a conspiracy....it was 100% the wrong call. Yep it is. But you know, a 'good' team will make that 49 yard field goal. Also, we have absolutely no idea what would have happened after that play if the officials let the play stand. Nichols could have been sacked twice for big yardage loss, or they could have turned the ball over. Just because they get the first down doesn't mean they win. I like Liram, I think he'll be a star, but I just saw the guy he replaced and was out of football for TWO years come in and kick a 50 yard field last night in an Ottawa loss (Justin Palardy). To me, the call was irrelevant - the BOMBERS lost that game, not the officials. Liram is paid to make those kicks, he's not paid to make garbage field goals and 3 out of 4 extra points. He failed ,HE lost the game.

  3. You're also an Edmonton fan so your opinion isn't valid. I disagree completely. To you maybe, but take a poll in Winnipeg - go ahead. I know who'd win. But sorry to disappoint, a lot more Oiler fans in Saskatoon then there are in Wpg. The Oilers play the Wild on Saturday afternoon in Saskatoon, so my guess is that's where McDavid will play (McLellan already said McDavid won't play both games). But the star player in the NHL is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> over the CFL. All I see here is people trying to sell their tickets at 1/2 face value for a bomber game - with no takers (see the one super fan here looking for bomber tickets but not willing to pay face value). Fans were paying their own way to Pentiction just for a chance to see McDavid. 'nuff said. you have a problem with me looking for tickets to a bomber game for cheap? Pretty dickish comment. For the record ive seen a total of 5 people selling tickets and 2 are at face value. im a member of 5 cfl and bomber fb groups and the forums so your info... as per usual.. is flawed. Really Spuds? How is it flawed? First off, it's not a 'dickish' comment. It's fact. Period. YOU take it any way YOU want. What, feeling 'guilty' now. Tell me where I'm wrong, go ahead. A buddy of mine has 3 pairs of Oilers seaons tickets. It's an investment, he's had them for years. He usually breaks even or loses a bit of money (as the Oiler lose over and over as the season progresses). This year, in only PRE SEASON games, he's sold out his tickets - for $1600. He can't believe it himself. YOU, a BOMBER FAN, are wiling to buy tickets but only on the cheap. 1. I don't blame you, and it's a fact you are and 2. You'll NEVER get an Oiler ticket on the cheap, not here, not in Winnipeg, not in Calgary, not in Vancouver. Those are all facts, and it's a majority. Maybe not here on this forum, but facts are facts. I guess the truth hurts, don't it? Though not sure why. Just admit it and move on please.

  5. Yes it was a hit to the head. They constantly miss those, unless it's a bomber throwing them, then all of a sudden it's a penalty
  6. Interesting that Wild didn't take the route Muamba is taking with the tour and all. How do you figure? ian, no offense to him as he is very good, is an american LB. I dont believe he was even an allstar while here. great signing, love to have him back and I value all he brings but Muamba is essentially one of the biggest and most valuable canadian FAs currently available. Former first round pick who actually plays like he was a first round pick, plays better then some american MLBs, is a leader and a ST ace. If you cant see the difference here.. He's a leader at making it known he wants nothing to do with CFL until he's exhausted all his NFL opportunties. Not that I blame him he'd make as much on the PR down there (if he gets in a few games due to injury) then he would up here. As ISO said Spud - we got a good solid MLB Canuck who has no desire to play in the NFL. Sam Hurl. Why? He's not good enough, which is what we need. We need players who simply aren't good enough to compete for a job in the NFL, but are good enough to play here. It is what it is.
  7. This team is horrible, as usual. I can't believe people in Wpg (from another thread) would rather watch the bombers get blown out by Calgary then watch Connor McDavid in the MTS center (though TBH haven't heard if McD is playing that game). If I'm going to game in Wpg on Friday night - it's not even a decision. Jets all the way.
  8. Why would you want this guy? He's clearly not interested in a CFL career. If he ends up here, he'll take as much money as he can but will no doubt fall in the "I no longer have an NFL dream so I'll coast now" syndrome like most failed NFL players have. Hurl is doing fine - keep him.
  9. Ticketmaster all out? Why pay full price? And people got mad at me when I called Winnipeggers cheap. If it's not on sale not interested! It's the city motto. Are people in Calgary idiots who actively look for the highest price possible? Agreed - don't get 17 comment at all. I don't care who you are, how much money you have, or where you live. I have never, ever, heard anyone in my life 'brag' about paying full retail for something. Ridiculous comment ( umm well actually the really rich - like the late Michael Jackson as an example - shops with their accountant... "Life's been Good" by Joe Walsh has a great line in there "my accountant pays for it all" which means the really rich don't even look at prices - they see something they want they point at it and say "I'll take it" - that's a fact - I've seen it. To only be that rich....... maybe 17to85 is one of those?)
  10. It's called sports rivalry, you should try it sometime IC - in a league devoid of superstars, I find it very sad when any solid player goes down. Collaros was, by far, the best QB in the league this season and a runaway MOP winner this year (and he still may win it). Banks is dangerous and exciting to watch whenever the ball gets in his hands. When I went to the game here (where they pretty much blew us out - Edmonton) every time we kicked to Banks I was on the edge of my seat. Mind you the Eskies kept him in check, but you never knew with each kick what could happen. And it's a lot more fun watching a team stop a Banks then some no name scrub. But that's just me I guess. I hated it when Willy got hurt, Durant, Crompton, Reilly, Lulay, Ray not starting the season now Collaros. Why would anyone want to watch pathetic football?
  11. Not sure what games you watch Goalie - but when Veltung was there he took it north / south and always gained postive yards. Stoudemire doesn't seem to be able to read his blocks very well, and he thinks he can outrun the coverage by going backwards all the time. I disagree here completely my friend.
  12. I'm not saying anything again, no one seems to listen. I've watched Nichols here for 6 years - I know exactly who he is and what he brings to the table. There's a reason why he's no longer here (in Edmonton) anymore. He's not a bad guy though, like I said before, he's miles ahead of any QB the bombers can recruit for the past 2 decades. That's why the Bombers continue to be the joke of the league
  13. Not sure why they aren't using Veltung back there. He was very good before Stoudemire came back and he's done absolutely nothing for us. Scary part is, just by sure dumb blind luck, he might return one for a TD then we get to listen to MOS say "I told you so". He can't even catch a pass. That's one guy who, when he gets cut, can't come too soon.
  14. sad but true Fraser. Nichols seems to be fighting it a bit - no 'quick' hitters as Duane Forde mentioned (funny I was wondering that too - you don't have to hold on to the ball for 5 seconds during a blitz usually someone is open off the line - though I give Nichols a pass right now as he's still learning our 'ahem' system).
  15. Looks like an entire remake of off the field personal again. New GM, new coach - or does O'Shea go to GM and hire a new coach?
  16. LOL - beat me to it. Good think MOS is in charge there
  17. Game time soon. With the loss by Hamilton and the win by Ottawa - Montreal needs this game as much as us. It could be game of the week (Edm / Ham was a dog of epic proportions - didn't see the B.C./Cal Ott/Sask Game). It should be game of the week. Montreal can afford to lose the game, we can't.
  18. Big game for Nichols here in Bomberland. If Nichols falters and the Al's beat us things will get ugly for the poor guy might quick. I just hope the good folks remember that 1 - Montreal has a great defense and 2 - this is only Nichols second start and second full week of practice. A poor showing today is no indicative of who he is. And he is, by far, our best choice as a backup to Willy and he is not a full time #1 guy.
  19. Good thing the Denmark call didn't have a significant impact on the game.Occasionally I might be inclined to review the rules of the CFL. That would probably just get me cranked up and angry with the caliber of the refs and command center. This drives me nuts. But I won't rag on the CFL officials. All officiating everywhere is like that. I remember a couple of years back - in hockey, last game of the year which was setting up the Oilers for yet another first overall pick. They were playing LA (in LA) and Horcoff was going in on goal and got high sticked in the mouth, he was bleeding and the whole bit. Ref was staring right at it. No penalty. Few minutes later, an Oiler put a slight hook on a King for about .5 seconds (literally) and that same Ref called a hooking penalty. Really? Lucky for them the game was in L.A. Meaningless game for the Oilers - the Kings needed the win IIRC to make the playoffs (and they won the Cup) but how can an official get away with that? All I've asked for in my officiating is consistency. If it's a penalty on one team (or one player) then the call should be made both ways. One day we'll have robotic refs - won't that be sweet.
  20. Hey it's the CFL - anything can happen. Look at Montreal last year when they started 1 - 7
  21. Nope - but weeks are going by fast. One other thing to consider - wherever he signs, he won't be ready to play the first week. Not at full time MLB anyway. Maybe special teams. I just wish he would decide already. As someone mentioned about 30 pages ago - this is more and more looking like a stalling. He's waiting for the next round of NFL games, seeing if there are any injuries and if so if he gets a call from the NFL. He'd run to Cleveland a lot faster than he would run to any CFL team - even for less money. If he does sign, the length of his contract will be interesting. Other thing I want to add - Jamal Westerman, after a slow start, is playing great. But from Dressler to Fantuz to any QB (including Ricky Ray - he was much better BNFL than AFNL) when a player tries and fails in the NFL and comes back here, he never seems to be the same. If Henoc does sign here, I don't expect him to be any better than what we're getting from Sam Hurl right now - but at a much higher price tag. I could be wrong, I just won't be surprised in the least.
  22. This is exactly what I'm getting at. We've seen tons of highly touted built for the CFL qbs come up here and flame out. Until he proves himself he's just another prospect qb. Somewhat agree here. Not that I'm disappointed in the signing - I think it's good. But right now he's on our PR only. If he proves he has any sort of feel for the Canadian game I could see him supplanting Brohm once Willy is back though, with Nichols as the backup and Davis back to the PR (if Boyd impresses more than Davis). Though I see it more as a "Here's how are league works and looks like, try to learn the game and if we like what we see we'll give you a contract to come back next year to compete for a spot in our TC - you'd have a leg up on any other rookie" kind of thing. Smart play actually - and it's a conditional pick (7th rounder lol) so I doubt it's anything huge unless he ends up as our starter Guessing you didnt feel like reading.. Its a swap of picks. If he starts x amount of games we swap that rounds pick. So we dont even lose a pick. even better - no not reading all 9 pages. But I did read the last page and saw that. So yes even better
  23. In his interview today he said he's here to put up some good film so he can get back to the NFL. He's got the right attitude, but it's clear what his goal is. No offense here Gbill - but what do you think all the CFL players want to do? Lets see, I can get my head torn off up here for minimum wage, or I can be a backup in the NFL and make 7 to 10 x the money. It's just refreshing to hear someone admit it for once. No one, absolutely no one, grows up in the US and dreams of playing in the CFL one day, and I highly doubt many Canadian kids do either (once they read the age of understanding the power of money).

  25. Well, given all the 'tours' he's doing, he better be signing a long term contract wherever it is he ends up. Maybe he just wants a vacation and he figures if he gets all these teams to pay for his airfare and hotel accommodations while he 'checks things out' he can get two birds done with one stone. If he doesn't sign in Wpg I would be disappointed due to the draft. It sucks you draft a player and only retain his rights for two years. Should be like the NHL - you own his rights for 7 years (though given the average career in the NHL is a lot longer than the CFL then maybe four years which would mean we'd still own his rights). But I won't go apeshit if he does sign elsewhere. Sam Hurl is actually coming along quite nicely for us - he was really bad early in the year but has made great strides. Plus, I have no idea what would happen in the dressing room culture if Henoc signed here anyway (not that I know how it is now). Could be better but could be a lot worse. I just wish if he didn't sign here we got some kind of compensation from the team that does sign him (a 2nd round pick or something).
