  1. Well, two-point converts are much more exciting than field goals as far as I'm concerned. There's also a little more strategy involved now which I don't mind.
  2. The fact that his ceiling is a bad version of Kevin Glenn is all i need to know. The real Kevin Glenn isn't overly impressive. Not to mention Glenn throws the ball well on most nights. He is one of my favourite passers to watch in the entire league, just due to his technique. Brohm uses terrible mechanics to produce awful results.
  3. The thing is Marve should have been (and should be from here on in) the second-stringer in the first place. There is not one thing that Brohm has done to merit the backup position.
  4. I'm sure most people would prefer to see Marve.
  5. Quick release? His release is slowwwww. He makes quick reads, sure but that's partly because he can never escape pressure and is unable to buy time with his feet.
  6. Brohm is just so awful that it's completely pointless to have him take reps. He has no future in this league and does not give the Bombers a chance to win. Marve, on the other hand, could really stand to gain some experience. Marve may have some things to learn but even then, he is much more effective than Brohm. We better get him some reps and find out what we have in him, otherwise he might leave us at the end of the year and prove to be a solid contributor for another CFL team.
  7. Isn't that the second time in his short career that I've seen that exact same thing happen? For some reason I feel like I saw that happen to him last year as well. I may be mistaken. Nope it was definitely the first time that has happened. He has not once committed a turnover, or even fumbled the ball in any of his reps. Meanwhile, Brohm has thrown three interceptions and has lost one fumble, plus at least one more that was wiped out by penalty in his regular season reps alone.
  8. Lol I might agree with you but that looked like a fluke more than anything. I don't know about you but I could only laugh when that happened. And as has already been said, that was Marve's first "turnover" in all of his preseason + regular season reps so far. He has proven to be a very "safe" QB for the Bombers. To look at that one play and conclude that he is "nowhere near ready" is foolish. All I know is that he's more ready than Brohm ever was, is and ever will be.
  9. I just don't understand what anyone can possibly see in Brohm. The guy can't throw nor run. I want the Bombers to win first and foremost, amd Brohm does not give the Bombers a chance to win. He's been outplayed by Marve in both of his training camps so far, he's looked awful in practice from my viewings, and has not impressed in game situations. I can't help but think of his position with the Bombers as anything but a classic case of nepotism. And who knows what Marve could have done in Brohm's place yesterday? It is unlikely that he'd have thrown two pick-6's, thus eliminating 14 or 15 Ticats points from the board. It is also likely that Marve would have been more successful in sustaining drives and thus keeping the Hamilton offence off the field. This might also have inspired the defence to play a little better... It is improbable that Marve would won the game, but nonetheless, I'm quite confident that he'd have given us a better chance than Brohm.
  10. Yeah if Marve fails to move the ball and gets his ass kicked I'll most certainly ask that they insert Davis at QB eventually. But with Brohm being as awful as he is, what's the harm in seeing what Marve can do with more reps? At least Marve appears to have some potential.
  11. I don't see what you see... Brohm too often makes bad decisions. He'd rather throw an interception than throw the ball into the stands. He also lacks mobility, which prevents him from being able to buy time or avoid sacks. Brohm didn't even deserve the backup job after last year's training camp. He was badly outplayed by Marve, just as he was in this year's training camp. Unfortunately for Bombers fans, it seems that character is more important to the coaching staff than ability.
  12. Arash Madani ‏@ArashMadani 13 hil y a 13 heuresVoir la traduction A guy in the #Ticats QB room a while back told me Brian Brohm once said: "I haven't gotten better since high school." You don't say... #CFL
  13. Yeah, and? And? Ok i will try to make this easy for ya,its like leaving your goalie in when he has let in 10 goals and then stating we may need him next game? See? Let me make this easy for you. You leave the backup QB in to give him reps...to get more practice so that he's ready for the next game. You don't pull him and shatter what confidence he has to put in another backup QB. And what if the 3rd stringer sucks too? You going to pull him to put in yet another backup? Were you not around when Burke did that **** to this team and completely destroyed all the QB's we had with what little confidence they had? The Bombers should roll with Marve for as long as Willy is out because Brohm offers no upside and has not demonstrated an ability to throw nor run the ball. He is awful in every sense of the word. Hell, I'd prefer Dominique Davis over Brian Brohm at this point.
  14. What the hell are you talking about? Where did I say that he has more talent than Collaros? I just said that he has innate talent. And that he was born to play in this league. Well then I guess we've been watching two different QB's. Marve can throw with deadly accuracy on the run. Brohm couldn't throw with any accuracy from the pocket. I want to see what Marve can do. I've seen enough of Brohm to know that he can't do anything. LOL...deadly accuracy. I think you're in dreamland there buddy. His completion percentage is 50% at best. At best? What? His completion percentage is 50% in the regular season, but it would likely have been higher had he played in more ordinary game situations. It's quite difficult to draw conclusions from his stats, considering more than half of his reps were in a snow storm. Marve has been quite successful throwing the ball in preseason FWIW. Brohm has not demonstrated an ability to throw nor run the ball.
  15. You guys who insist to stand behind O'Shea's decisions and keep making excuses for Brohm's poor play are hilarious. There is not one thing that Brohm has done to merit the primary backup position.
  16. I have a lot of respect for your football knowledge. That being said, I have been watching CFL football for 40 years or so. Brohm is awful. Marve has more innate talent then i've seen in any quarterback in the CFL since Tom Clements or Matt Dunigan. He was born to play in this league. If the Winnipeg coaches can't see that, it will cost them their jobs. That's insane hyperbole. You think Marve has more talent than a guy like Collaros? Marve has shown very little to get excited about as a quarterback at this point is his career, even going back to NCAA. He's always been a guy with tools but no toolbox to carry them in, and that's where I'd still put him based on what we saw in pre-season. If a QB can't stand and deliver at even a basic level of consistency, he has no chance to beat a pro defense or even a high level NCAA one. There's a difference between guys like Collaros who improvise at times but stay on time in terms of reads and progressions the majority of the time and a guy like Marve who takes one look downfield and panics, either scrambles or tosses a ball with his lower body in constant motion killing his accuracy regardless of how big his arm is. Marve is still very far away from being an effective CFL QB, the tools are there, I'll agree with that, but that's about 1/3 of what a good QB needs. I get that you're not a huge believer in Marve. I suppose that's fine but man.... There is not one thing about Brohm that is attractive. He is absolutely awful in every sense of the word. Again, what's the harm in giving Marve some reps and see what he can do? At least the guy has shown an ability to move the sticks in each of his appearances.
  17. Brohm will never win us a game.... He's bad all around and has not shown an ability to throw nor run the ball. So what's the harm in seeing what Marve can do with more reps? At least he appears to have some potential.
  18. He couldn't have looked any more lost than Brohm, that's for sure.
  19. It's more of a very strong dislike for Brohm. He simply doesn't deserve to be on this roster.
  20. Thank-you JBR for some sanity in this thread. I don't get the Brohm hate around here. Marve would have reacted differently to the blitz for sure. And it would have been very ugly. But our QBs - all of them - could use a co-ordinator like Tommy Condell who called a great game for Collaros and Co. Well, it's too bad you never got the chance to be proven right... You're correct, Marve probably would have had such a hard time beating Brohm's passer rating of 41.67.
  21. The love that you have for Brohm is silly and unwarranted. Pretty much every one of his throws today were off the mark and weak. I mean... 146 yards on 28 attempts with 2 interceptions and 0 touchdowns is just indefensible. He was awful in every sense of the word, and has been every step of the way so far, save for half a game against Calgary last year. By the way, that was Marve's first "turnover" in all of his preseason + regular season reps so far, and it appeared to be a total fluke. Brohm has committed three interceptions, one fumble and another fumble wiped out by penalty in his limited regular season reps alone. The way I see it is... Brohm is awful and has zero upside, while Marve has potential, and should be given more reps otherwise we'll never know what we have in him.
  22. Well this thread has restored my faith in Bombers fans. At least some people see what I see in Brohm... Complete and utter uselessness. It's an absolute joke that Marve wasn't given a chance today.
  23. ...a big thing people are forgetting is that we always see him in garbage time, and even then, it's such a limited sample size. Nobody has any clue where this guy fits in the depth chart except the coaches who've gone over every single snap in practice and games... What do you consider garbage time? The only appearance of his that you could possibly consider being in "garbage time" would have been his last.. Well, maybe week 17 against Calgary last year, but even then, could you still consider it garbage time when he made it a 10-point deficit? Besides, if it's that easy to perform in garbage time, why did Brohm fail to do so against Edmonton last year? Cuz Edmonton D is very good. They would have ate Marve up too And Calgary's D isn't very good? I would bet against that happening as Marve has always found a way to be relatively effective.
