On the cusp eh? so that to me means he should be back in a week or 2, he won't be tho. Durant if he comes back early, man oh man, it's gonna be ugly cuz he's gonna be hurt again. I wouldn't rush him back if i was the Riders but i'm not and i get the sense that they will rush him back and he will be hurt again and possibly hurt so badly that he misses a part of next season too. Riders aren't a very good team tho, they really aren't. Your qb goes down, ok i get your offence starting to struggle but the D too? They have been awful, where has john chick been, that poll about the MOP in the west on the CFL site is a joke, where has chick been the last several weeks? invisible. Like i said, i get if your qb goes down your offence is going to struggle, i get that but it's no excuse for your defense to suck as bad as the riders D have the last several weeks. Riders are done and lucky they got their wins early in the year, if not they would probably be last place in the west. If one guy goes down and your entire team goes to crap, you aren't that good and i don't see that one guy returning making a huge difference.

the reality is if people want roads to be fixed, you need to pay for them and the way to pay for them is through tax money. If you don't want to pay taxes to fix things, things will never be fixed.

Nope, not the answer... but neither is Slater Big difference here. Slater is a 4th line center, Jokinen is not. Jokinen wouldn't want to play 4th line minutes. It's just how it is. In Nashville i believe he is the 2nd line center even. He was never offered a contract here and rightfully so but no way he would have accepted 4th line minutes. Not a chance. Can believe he would have all you like but reality is, he's 2nd line center in Nashville getting 15-20 minutes a game, here? he'd get 7 or 8 minutes a game. Not worth it to pay him that much to be a 4th line center. Plus he really wasn't very good at winning face-offs and that's actually one of the things slater does pretty well.

Interesting tidbit about Grigsby, just heard on TSN. Take it for what it's worth but this is Grigsbys 6th team in the last 4 years.

Steeves is irrelevant and just a huge joke, the fact that he has no platform at all, what is his platform exactly? Does anybody know cuz it seems to me his platform is, NO to everything. No to Growth, no to progress, Steeves i don't think was ever a realistic option. He is irrelevant. He just doesn't get it. Never has and never will. The nice thing about this, steeves will be gone in a couple days never to be heard from again. He has truly killed his political career.

We're still in the playoff hunt baby ...
Goalie replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
optimistic as anyone but... it's highly unlikely both us and bc make it to the playoffs right now. -
It's gonna be close. That's for sure. But i truly do feel Bowman will pull it off. Honestly, i don't talk to lots of people, but the people i do talk too and they range anywhere from 18 to even 65 or older (uncles aunts, co workers etc) , They all can't stand judy and the funny thing about it is, most these people are very pro NDP but anti Judy. That's why i mentioned all the NDP councilor signs and the Bowman signs in the same yard. It's interesting, never seen that before round these parts.. Ton upon tons of NDP councilor signs but in the same yards, Bowman for mayor signs. It's shocking to see actually. Turns out people may end up voting for the best person and not the party, i hope they do. Like i said, Voted bowman and voted the NDP councilor. Why? because i actually agree with both of them, fresh new ideas instead of the same old. I'm starting to truly believe that most people are seeing it this way too. Just cuz you vote for the NDP councilor, don't mean you need to vote for Judy. Honestly, in these elections, i wish more people would actually vote for the person they actually agree with and not the party they represent. What party they represent to me is irrelevant, i could honestly care less and it seems like lots of people are thinking the same right now. Hey you know what, i can agree with bowman and i can also agree with the NDP councilor, i can vote for both. Judy is so out of touch, nothing against older people, but a 65 year old should not be mayor. It's just not cool. I don't care that JUdy represents the NDP, i don't care that Bowman is sort of conservative, it's irrelevant, I voted for the people i agreed with more. Gonna say this, if this was a provincial election, i think i would have voted NDP or Independent because as much as i really don't like Sellinger,Pallister is every bit of a goof as sellinger is, if not more. Honestly, the way i look at it, if these people weren't affiliated with a party, who would i vote for... I think most people should think that way. Just cuz you vote for the NDP, don't mean you should vote for Judy, you need to vote for the person you feel is best for the city of winnipeg. I hope people see it that way. Vote for the person you feel is best for the city. Don't vote for the party they represent, vote for the person they are.

and ofcourse because he played for the argos for a while, was hyped out the butt. So gotta take that in to account too. Not one of the best but definitely not one of the worst. Maybe middle of the pack?

Always something isn't there. The way he runs? who cares, he's productive or was this last game against a very good Calgary team coming off a bye week. One thing i will say, Cotton seems to get more yards than Grigsby, sure he was stuffed a few times but for the most part, he had some pretty good first down production, i think we were 2nd and short, or 2nd and 5 or so more this game then any other game this season.. He did have a couple big runs too but... basically grigsby would get 1 or 2 yards maybe 3, and then have one or 2 big runs, Cotton seems to be more consistent or like i said, at least was this last game. The main difference tho, i think Cotton hit the holes the oline opened up for him, Grigsby didn't. That's the difference there. Cotton = North South. Grigsby = East West all the time. Always tried to do it on his own it seemed, Cotton used his team mates better, and by team mates i mean the oline. Oline probably loves a guy like Cotton who sees the hole and hits it, probably could get very frustrating with a guy like Grigsby back there, opening up holes, cuz the oline did open up holes for Grigsby but he just wouldn't see it or try to do it all on his own, Cotton seems to have.. hmm, i suppose this work, Cotton has better vision, by that i mean, he's more patient and allows the hole to open up, if it's not there, he just goes forward not sideways.

Allen eh? From my recollection, not a good passer, a terrible passer actually but had the ability to run, i'm not sure a guy like Allen has that long of a career if he was around now a days.

Brohm has a broken thumb; Willy to start
Goalie replied to TBieber's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Makes sense to me, Gotta start DREW when the game still matters. Expect to see Marve tho in the last game of the year. -
Brayden Schenn is a center, something we don't need. The reason that trade hasn't happened is because it's not realistic and because it's been reported by Eklund, who is not the most reliable rumor guy out there. Schenn? Pass... Voracek? Read? a 1st? maybe but Schenn? no need for him.
-
Heenan is a ratio changing tackle, One bad game doesn't mean he isn't. Every player on the oline struggles at times, even the best of them. I'm not saying Heenan is the best tackle in the league, he's not but he has the potential to be one of the best. The guys in his what? second year in the league? 3rd maybe. Don't think the ESKS dline gets enough credit, for gods sake Eddie steele, has 10 career sacks, 6 this year.. That Edmonton DL is the heart and soul of their team and probably, nah not probably, they are no doubt the best DL in the league.

Bogo shows a lot of heart too, he sticks up for his team mates out there, gotta like seeing that. Ladd? seems frustrated, seems distracted too tho. Wheeler? Give him the C Give Scheif an A I'd give BOGO and A too.. Seems silly to talk about trading bogo and toby, who is our first pair D then? Trouba and Stuart? You can't trade BOGO, he's too young and shows way too much heart out there. Ladd tho,Buff, Toby.. They aren't in that under 24 group, can't trade all the over 24 year olds but... Those 3 would be a good start, it would shake up the group, let them know they are being held accountable. Do have to admit tho, when THorburn is on your 3rd line, yeah you got some issues. Honestly tho, The Jets have given up 15 goals, legit right in the middle of the pack, The D isn't so much the issue right now, the lack of scoring is. What can Ladd get you in a trade? it would have to be significant, same with BUFF and same with Toby for that matter.. I'm fine with moving those 3, but... you better get something huge in return, if you move Toby, you need to get a LHD in return, can't have stuart playing on the first pair, Trouba has struggled so far but has shown some flashes so i wouldn't trade BOGo. Fact is tho, its 5 games in and there is still time to turn things around, if we are like this nearing christmas time, then yeah i'd consider moving several guys... not the under 24 or 25 guys and not wheeler or little but the rest, definitely. Untouchables in my opinion Forwards Scheif,Kane,Wheeler,Little,Perreault,Lowry D Bogo,Trouba The rest? If it keeps going like the way it has been, they all can go but some of them need to get you some significant pieces plus a first round pick in 2015. I only trade Buff Toby and Ladd if i get something significant in return and that includes a 1st rd pick in 2015.
-
Honestly, if not for a couple breakdowns, the Jets easily and probably should have won these last 2 games. THE LAST 2 periods vs Calgary was concerning tho, looked like they could just care less, well everyone except wheeler and scheif at least. Jets probably aren't as bad as their record indicates thus far, they have for the most part out played the other team the last 2 games but are having a hard time scoring right now but with that being said, I don't think they are bad enough to get a top 3 pick, And honestly i feel they need that, preferably top 2 pick this year, probably can't go wrong with mcdavid or eichel... but.... who knows really. If it keeps up, it's time for some change, can't trade kane, he isn't part of the problem right now, but ladd? enstrom? buff? yeah i'd considering moving them for picks and prospects.

I agree. I like what he brings. Instead of starting another topic, I'm just gonna give some props here to a guy that lots of people on this board here have kind of been wondering why he's on the roster and that's Don Unumba. Looked really good out there, that INT was a thing of beauty, had 10 tackles also. Hustles every play. Looked pretty good to me actually. I can see why he has been rostered every week, non stop hustle on every play. The guy is a keeper too and maybe it's just me but I think he's a Johnny Sears clone, Looks like him, plays like him, hopefully not as injury prone though.

Thorpe signed an extension with Montreal, he aint going anywhere and Garcia? Please, he has less experience than every other guy listed, he's not even the OC in montreal. Want a realistic name? Marcus Howell.
-
For a guy getting his first real reps, marve looked pretty good. Thought Brohm looked really good too b4 getting hurt tho also. Honestly seen so many qbs over the years have better games than marve tho and those guys are long gone now. I'd like to see marve get a full game with the team to see what he can do, but... at the same time, This is Drew Willys team, Honestly tho, we are pretty much done now, suppose not technically but need so much help its crazy, hell bc isn't even guaranteed to get in right now but.... I think I'd play Marve this week just because, why not. Honestly might not be technically done but reality is we are so i'd like to see Marve play, I'd like to see some PR guys play too, give some other guys some chances these last 2 weeks. QB isn't the problem on this team, RB wasn't the only problem on the team, we got lots of issues, oline being the main one but we got lots of offensive issues still... Let's see a PR receiver get in there, see some of the other guys who have stuck around get some time to show what they can do too. Gotta find a guy to take Rombys spot next season, Let's see what the PR receivers can do.. Marve? B4 proclaiming him the be all and end all, i'd like to see what he can do with a few games under his belt.. Right now he's probably playing for the backup job next year... His numbers were just average tho but like i said for a guy getting his first real reps of the year, pretty decent.

Is it necessary to hire coordinators with CFL experience?
Goalie replied to B-F-F-C's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Scott Milanovich actually played 6 games with the stampeders in 2003 and actually finished the year as the stamps qb coach, This from his montreal alouette page i suppose you can call it Before becoming a coach, he played several years in the NFL, NFLE, AFL, XFL and CFL. He played one game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1996, staying on with the team as a backup through 1999. He signed with the Cleveland Browns before moving on to the NFLE Berlin Thunder. He played one season with the AFL Tampa Bay Storm as well as with the Calgary Stampeders. Following six games as a player, he closed out the 2003 campaign as the Stamps’ quarterbacks coach. So Milo did have some prior knowledge of the CFL, had a full seasons worth of knowledge actually Sure he went back to NFL Europe for a few years but that one year of CFL experience, it certainly probably helped him lots Regardless though, You see way more Crowtons Andrus's and was it Dan Hawkins? I think so, but you see way more of them than you do Marc Trestmans that's for damn sure. Honestly is it fair to put Crowton in that group tho? He was just an OC, Andrus, Hawkins and the sorts were head coaches. Can anyone name a guy with absolutely zero knowledge of the CFL other than Trestman who came up here and actually did something good? I honestly can't think of him. Trestman is the exception, Crowton Andrus Hawkins etc are the norm. WIth that being said, there does seem to be a trend of sorts there, the guys who have come up and failed for the most part.. they were offensive guys, OC's or Head Coaches really... Not many Defensive Coordinator fails. Think that just speaks to basically the Defense is the same in North America regardless of if its NFL NCAA or CFL, only difference is one extra player and some alignment issues, Not too much to overcome i don't think... Offense tho? seems that all the different nuances the CFL has, seems like some/most guys have a hard time adapting to that. -
I don't think Grigsby screwed us, fact is he wasn't going to play last week and he wasn't going to play this week, my guess is he wasn't going to play next week or the week after. Based on nothing but a complete guess, I'm not sure Grigsby would have seen the field again, so he didn't really screw us. He might have screwed himself a bit tho, if the rumors of him being a locker room problem and "cancer" (hate using the word to describe people) but if they are true, then Grigsby is probably never heard from again... Sure he might sign in Hamilton or wherever, not sure why anyone would think BC, they have Anatolin who is 10x better than Grigsby, but I'd imagine Grigsby won't be in the CFL next season. He might have had a chance to be if he decided not to quit on the team, gotta think he might have earned at least a training camp invite with us next season, maybe not tho, but regardless, Grigsby asking for his release, It's like Christmas in October really. As for Smith, Dude couldn't hit the side of a barn from 10 feet away... He done.

I actually thought i heard his name thrown around in the off-season, not sure if it was someone on the fan board here or if it was in the paper and it turned out he didn't want to leave regina because he has a good thing going there. With that being said tho, I suppose if he wanted to become a DC, that would be a promotion for him, so i suppose technically the riders would probably let him take the DC role here, if it was offered to him and he wanted it. I'm really under the impression though that he doesn't want to be a DC at this time.
-
That's definitely the obvious guess but the media actually didn't ask o'shea what options he gave to grigsby.
-
Lawless asks the first question... can you explain the situation with grigsby this morning and what lead to his release?? O'shea says he explained the role grigsby would have this week and then grigsby asked for his release Lawless quotes chris randle, o'shea after a while says him and randle could be team mates, essentially agreeing with randles quote Churchill chimes in, Why not a trade instead of a release? o'shea says no comment, nothing good can come of what he might say basically What was his role going to be this week? He was going to sit this week.. Friesen chimes in, was the option of being released given to Grigsby? O'shea says NO So tell me there Kptn Krunch, where exactly did the media ask what the options presented to grigsby were? They didn't. They had a chance too but they didn't.. cuz after that last question by friesen they move on to talking about something totally different They didn't ask what options he was given, they asked if he was given the option to be released and MOS said no No where do they ask about what options he was ACTUALLY given. You can come to your own conclusions with the one game or the PR but the media did not ask what options MOS actually gave him. Listen again closer.

True if you've only watched like 3 games. Here are our losses, keep in mind not all points score for the other team were because of the D either, special teams and offensive **** ups lead to several points scored.. Not an ETCH fan and predicted the same but..... to be fair... 26-3 Edmonton 3 points for our offense? Yeah let's blame ETCH 23-17 SASK, that was the game where we turned the ball over 5 times, but let's blame the D 38-21 Toronto, that was on a tuesday after we played SASK, 3 or 4 days later... D was gassed by the 4th but kept the team in it up until that point 35-30 sask in sask... Labour Day, Offense had a chance but couldn't move the ball, lets blame the d tho 30-24 sask, banjo bowl, turnovers cost us that game but again let's blame the d 26-9 vs bc in bc, Willy got hurt and that game was close until the 4th quarter, that was when our offense couldn't move the ball at all once willy got hurt, let's again blame the D tho 16-11 vs hamilton, remember that one? had a chance to win on the last play of the game but didn't, let's blame the D though even though our offense couldn't score 2 touchdowns The last 2 games have been blowouts so those 2 teams, yeah... they have sucked but those 2 games is not how the season has gone for us really 4 of 9 losses were by like 6 points or less 2 of our losses, actually 3 if i include the last edmonton game, we didn't score a TD all game How can we blame the D again?? Like i said, not an ETCH fan but blaming the D when the offense hasn't scored a touchdown in 3 of our losses and 4 of our losses were by 6 points or less?? I dunno about that one. I'm not gonna go through all those game stats but... Just based on what i recall, just eliminating our own offensive and special team mistakes, we probably could have won 4 of those games if not more, when you lose 4 games by 6 or less and you are turning over the ball lots and making special teams mistakes, pretty tough to blame the D. I'm not an ETCH fan at all and thought it would be like this too but to ignore the offensive struggles the team has had is just blaming etch cuz you don't like guy, i don't like the guy either but... just because i don't like him doesn't mean i'm going to ignore the bigger issues we have. Is the D a problem? i suppose so, but is the offense a bigger problem? Yes it is and if you refuse to see that or admit that, then i don't know what to say 4 losses by 6 or less, 3 losses we didn't score an offensive td all game.. How can we blame the D exactly? maybe for 2 losses we can blame the D but when the offense can't score touchdowns in 3 of those games and we turned the ball over multiple times in those 4 games we lost by 6 or less, not sure how the D and Etch get the blame. Ignoring the last 2 games because most the season wasn't like that in 7 losses we have given up an average of about 28 points a game, in those 7 losses, we have scored an average of about 16 points a game. 16.5 really. How can you blame the D for the majority of those losses when the Offense has only average 16.5 points a game in those losses. 16.5 points won't win you many games at all. Really wish i could find the stat on how many turnovers we have had and how many points it cost us in those 7 losses, cuz my guess.. just based on memory, it's quite a bit for sure. Can go on and on about the last 2 games but those last 2 games isn't what we've seen this season really, well it is, but not in terms of what the defense has done this season, those last 2 games are more of a reflection of what the offense hasn't done this season.

Kyle Walters technically hasn't even been the Gm for a full year yet, technically he was hired late November of last season. Little too quick to judge i think, Gonna take some time to get where we need to be, Really not sure why people think all/most of the problems we had the last several years could be fixed in less than one year.
