Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard
Fatty Liver replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Read somewhere that Brett Jones had no interest in playing in Regina although he is a Sask. boy. Not hard to understand really, once you get out (escape) why would you want to go back? -

If Neufeld starts at guard instead of tackle it'll be very interesting to see what they do with Morley. If Neufeld can play more than 3 games in a row without pulling up lame, I'll be shocked. -

.....another he can teach the younger O-liners how to hold like a SOB and not get caught! -
Name one decent linebacker we brought in last year. Yeah, we're going to have a hell of a time attempting to find two starting linebackers this off season. Name one decent linebacker we brought in last year. Yeah, we're going to have a hell of a time attempting to find two starting linebackers this off season. I wouldn't count Sherman out yet, he's still young and he made some impressive plays last year, lot's of potential for improvement.

In theory anyway it should work like this but i think wild brings a bit more then just a LB.. long snapping, consistent, mostly healthy.. Plus seemed like a real character guy.. Played the teams like a beast.. Replaceable? Sure.. but he wasnt just a dime a dozen LB imo. That almost goes without saying it's not Wild's size or speed that landed him an NFL contract it's his attitude, even O'Shea was awestruck by his work ethic and dedication. No coach is going to ignore those elements when deciding who to keep and who to cut.

Good point, BC would also draw better if the stadium was located in the vicinity of Abbotsford. Tons of people don't want to bother with a weekly trip to the "big city" and all that it entails, especially seniors and people with kids. When I refer to suburbs of Toronto I'm encompassing the area from Owen Sound to North Bay to Kingston. A stadium in the vicinity of Markham or New Market would make for easy access for aprox. 5 million and the 5,000 or so from Toronto who now attend Argos games would still have direct rail access.

Agreed. The CFL needs a strong Toronto franchise. Hopefully get them out of the Dome and onto to BMO field. Maybe Torontoians will now realize the city isn't NFL material after the Bills cancelled their Toronto dates, and actually embrace their CFL team. Toronto is all about trendy ... A NY or California wannabe ... they have a small but dedicated fan base but good luck adding to that ... BMO field would make things more intimate and affordable (its very, very easy to spend $200 on a CFL outing: downtown and the SkyDome is major expensive)... the CFL will never satisfy the trendy mindset and that's why its been a nightmare for traditional marketing ... they need to develop some kind of new niche/specialty fan identity (non trendy types) to add to the existing fan base ... that means marketing has to change their methods and quit being so shallow ... they need a brand that fits and has the right distinctness ... "bigger & better" won't work in Toronto & "just as good" certainly won't ... they need to find that portion of the population that would be proud of our long time Canadian heritage that care more about football than keeping up with (not the Jones but) NY & LA They will find their target market inhabiting the suburbs, the Argos need to give up on the idea of playing downtown and make it easier and more affordable for people in the surrounding suburban communities with kids, a dog and a yard to attend games.

Hall most likely to be new DC (Now Official)
Fatty Liver replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
As in Bomberville, a piss poor offensive performance in 2014 contributed significantly to getting Hall fired. -

Ugly or Wonderful ... your gut hunch for 2015
Fatty Liver replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
With Marcel still firmly planted in the wheel house of the offence my imagination can't conceive the Bombers doing better than .500 at this time. I don't see them making the playoffs next year unless another Western team tanks and puts them there. A weak team in BC is the logical hope but with a new coach and a surprise QB solution in the works it could turn out that 2014 may have been the Lion's bottom out season. Time will tell. -
Brown: final indictment of Etch's D
Fatty Liver replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
In all honesty I believe the ineptitude of the offence is what finally did Etch in. If they could have moved the ball marginally well in the second half of the season Etch's poor scheme may not have been exposed as badly as it was. -
It's funny that you mention this because I was thinking about this the other day. In my opinion, it's not the corner fade routes that need to go. It's that they really should not have had Romby Bryant being the one to run the majority of them. That could be a solution, but either way the corner fades stopped working as the season went on. In my opinion, a corner fade route is a high risk pass, so I'd call it much less than we did last year, especially when you only have two downs (NFL you can take more risks). Still keep it in the offense, but minimize it.I'd like to see us sign a big, physical WR, who is like 6'5" who we can use in the red zone on jump balls. Aaron Kelly is tall, but not physical enough to use as a primary jump ball red zone guy. I had hopes Urrutia could have been that guy, but he obviously didn't work out. If my memory serves correct that stupid corner fade route only worked twice in the entire season, once to Kelly and once to Kohlert and they both made spectacular catches for TD's. Hope Willy, Marcel and the O-line can get on the same page quickly because their performance in the second half of the season was dreadful.

I can totally understand Brohm moving on from the Bombers unless he's content collecting a pay cheque for holding a clip board in perpetuity. Win or lose, Willy would have to be laying dead on the field before O'Shea would ever consider resorting to his backup QB, so the opportunity for progressing his career probably lies elsewhere, not in Wpg. The book on competition for the QB position is officially closed as long as O'Shea is in charge.

Nowhere near enough credit for a guy like Bucknor ... he played great for us last year. Great? No let's not get delusional here. He was adequate. You bring the guy back for sure but let's not pretend the team wouldn't have continued along just fine without him. For a Canadian on the corner, he was great. Would we be worse off if he left? Yes. That statement is skewing your perception. Just because it's a low bar doesn't mean his play was great. He didn't **** up too badly that's all you really need out of the guy but I would suggest that if he leaves you just play an american in that position and actually improve your secondary over all. Can likely find a way to replace the NI somewhere else. Maybe a linebacker position, maybe find a DL, maybe they even go with 3 receivers, or 4 OL. He's a useful player to have but he wasn't great. You do understand the ratio problems the Bombers have, right?

Grand. Etch had maybe his last chance in the CFL, can't see him getting another opportunity so it's back to College ball or retire to the rocking chair. Stubborn is as stubborn does and that applies to O'Shea as well.

If say his strongest attribute is his wife. Especially when she appeared for WWE. There was a live segment where the other divas cut promos on her and almost got them thrown off the air. Classic. Link???? Off the top Jeff's got at least two good reasons to smile. http://theproducers.weei.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/muni-and-garcias-238x300.jpg

He probably deserves the most credit for turning around the Als season. But he seems pretty set on either being a HC or going back to his beach side mansion in California to be with his Playboy wife. Must be a rough life for Mr Garcia... Someone please explain why this guy would leave home to coach football and be separated from his assets. I don't get it.

Doesn't this mean that Calvillo is destined to be the O.C.?

Patrick Neufeld extends contract through 2017
Fatty Liver replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'd be surprised if at the end of 2015 season the Bombers weren't still looking up at the Lions. Wally's teams are always competitive. -

Potentially Calgary if Tate is headed for F.A. or Sask. as long as Glenn finally accepts he will be a backup from this point forward. Wonder who Wally is eyeballing to make this move. Lefevour? -

Patience is what lies in a hospital bed. They're no damn good on a football field cause they got something wrong with them! -

That was all in house so there was no competition for those players, kudos due. The Bombers ended up with Etch and Marcel in the first place because there was nothing but table scraps left by the time they stepped up to the plate. We already know BC, Ottawa and Sask. are in the hunt and there maybe more teams looking to replace a coordinator or two and as always there's not a lot with CFL experience to choose from. In the 100 yard dash they can't afford to be slow off the line. -

Got to love Wally, he's a blur at this time of the year. While Walters is just reaching out tentatively for his first kiss, Wally has already done the job and is zipping up his fly. Guess the Bombers will settle for sloppy seconds or worse when it comes to choosing from available coordinators again. Could use a bit of Elvis's TCB around IGF. -

If O'Shea is chaining his leg to Marcel and Etch, 2015 could be his last year with the Bombers. They'd better produce at least 10 wins and the coordinators better learn to adapt as the season progresses.
