  1. I would love to see Cotton and Curtis Steele in the Bomber backfield in 2015, time for the Bombers to get serious about their running game. One back systems don't cut it in the West.
  2. Why do you say that?... Both Rene Curran and Brian Peters have been rumoured as targets for the Bombers... Good point. I like Curran but don't see Peters as being a solution at MLB although he would be a fine addition on the outside. Richie Hall may convince Walters to pursue Peters vigorously but there is still a decent chance Peters will be receiving NFL offers so the Bombers should proceed with caution. Curran is currently sitting behind JC Sherritt on the Esks. depth chart and he's not getting any younger so I believe he is going to move. Depending on the competition Bombers have a good shot but he may also be attractive to the Riders and the ORB's.
  3. Would have been nice to get Desia Dunn under contract at a moderate price especially now that Sears is likely not returning. I know Dunn has his haters in this room but he is a reliable, consistent, steady player that rarely got burned. I'd hoped the Bombers would have rolled with him until his replacement was obvious. Too much turn-over in the LB core is disconcerting especially with no sign of a CFL proven MLB heading this way. Dunn was one of Tim Burke's favourites so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with the Argos.
  4. In my eyes Desjardins is the wild card in free agency this year, doesn't seem like Ottawa has done near enough to improve their club over this off-season through conventional methods so it looks like they will key on free agents. If Marcel is in the mood to spend the idiotic amounts of money he reportedly offered Dressler last year on O-linmen and receivers the Bombers may have to to offer unprecedented sums to acquire assets or settle for crumbs that fall off the bidding table. As the cream of the free agency crop is quickly evaporating, I'm not sure it's worth over-bidding to acquire any of the players now heading towards free-agency. If they can be picked up at a fair market price great, but it may be wiser to hold money in reserve for NFL rejects or the hopeful return of one of the long awaited like Bilkudi, Mulamba, et all.
  5. No big surprise that the barn is almost empty when free agencies opens, happens every year. It's going on my "anti-climatic" list along with Ground-hog Day.
  6. Telling that Kromah only started a few games before they reshuffled the deck, inserted Unamba and Sears and put Kuale back in the middle. Even with Kuale I put a lot of the blame on Etch's system as the MLB was constantly tied up or taken out of the play by an O-lineman.
  7. The most puzzling thing is that so far they have done nothing to improve their QB depth which killed them in 2014. Other than sending Kerry Joseph back to his retirement villa, which is one small step in the right direction.
  8. There is no way we get Heenan. We would have to GROSSLY overpay for SK to let him go -- he's a local boy, old man is a Riderdouche, blah blah. He wants to go to the NFL. Or play in SK. I would like to say take a huge run at him to get SK to burn a bunch of cap money to keep him, but they dont follow the cap anyway so whats the point? I love the CFL and defend it up and down. But the way the cap is treated makes me think it needs a serious cleansing "IF" the CFL is serious about their salary cap rules they should occasionally conduct an official audit of suspicious accounting to keep teams in line. I nominate Mr. Taman and his "numbers-by-napkins" system as a likely benefactor of this program. The sickening smell of fudge is beginning to waft across the prairies and it's only February.
  9. That has to be a cause for concern. Finding one or two good LB's is tough, four is an immense task. Won't be surprised if Sherman ends up full time in default and pretty sure they can resign Dunn before F.A. if they want to.
  10. "very aggressive" might mean throwing things around the office if Heenan doesn't sign. Yep. Taman and O'Day will have a few beers, take their shirts off, and have a good old wrestling match in Taman's office. You've just spoiled tomorrow's breakfast with that imagery.
  11. He re-focused on the tackle, not the smack down. It's football, you go hard or you go home (on a stretcher usually). Hitting/tackling is the same thing when that's how you play. Doubt Solomon could change how he plays and stil would remain as effective ... I disagree, hitting and tackling are not the same thing. Ian Wild and Alex Suber are examples of great tacklers that do not rely heavily on the hitting component. One of the Bombers problems last year was not wrapping up and containing the ball carrier, thus poor tackling.
  12. He re-focused on the tackle, not the smack down.
  13. The way he played Watson definitely had the talent to be a Canadian superstar, unfortunately injuries prevented him from achieving this status. Players that play with reckless abandon like Watson and Sears can rarely avoid spending a good portion of the season in the tub. Solomon Elimimian consciously decided to change the way he plays to prolong his career and yet has remained extremely effective. Use more brain less brawn.
  14. Watson should be healthy for the start of 2015 and I believe he will make a positive impact on both their roster and their play so don't be too surprised if those green buggers are crowing from their rooftops in the early part of the season. Will have to check back in with them around game 6 though to see if their rooster died.
  15. Sounds like a good deal, hopefully this opens the door for JFG who has earned his stripes imo.
  16. A "golden" memory for me was taking my first piss in one of the trough urinals at Winnipeg Stadium when I was 8. Splash back was a ***** though when you're 3'-6".
  17. That or he has a bad habit of going to the bathroom on the ceiling. How are we sure If that video was not taken from one of the office in IGF? Hilarious! Hall's new office is right below the men's urinal.
  18. Sure doesn't look like the presentation was any reason to delay the announcement. Couldn't take my eyes off that stain in the ceiling long enough to pay attention to what Richie was saying. Confidentially I think Richie has a problem with his plumbing.
  19. Hope the Bombers don't waste money pursuing a receiver in F.A.. The price being paid in the CFL has gotten out of hand lately in that dept. and there is a hefty supply of them available every year. Just need to bring 5 or 6 good candidates to camp and chances are decent that one could be a diamond. Plus I don't see this as being a weak point on the current squad, other problems run deeper. I hope to see a re-newed and improved Drew Willy demonstrating that he actually learned something from his 2014 beat down.
  20. Smart move by the Stamps ensuring they have competency in the backup QB position. I don't think a single starting QB made it through 2014 without injury and the same will most likely occur in 2015 as it does every year. Funny the Riders are one of the most vulnerable teams in this regard but have done nothing to address the problem so far. Is Glenn still hanging out on a branch?
  21. Exactly. We need a good bird-dog or some one with connections to Canada Customs to find out if Hall went along for the trip. Doubt any of the regular CFL bloggers are in attendance.
  22. It is pretty funny how worked up people are getting.. Its like their lives have stalled without knowing the official announcement.. The sleeplessness, the anxiety! Pre-Announcement Death Syndrom is nothing to laugh about.
  23. I like it, defense by committee. However, has this co-defensive coordinator approach ever been done before in the CFL? I've always assumed offense and defense as one man in charge with head coach oversight. Or is this a wish that will always stay a wish? Expensive with little prospect of being a better solution.
  24. Morley got ejected in one game so that may have skewed his penalty minutes somewhat...I think it was against the Riders.. Maybe but GBills quote was saying Morley lead the league in penalties, not penalty minutes. Not sure there is a penalty minutes in football exactly. It's not like they get called for Holding and sit out for 2 minutes. Not a bad idea actually, maybe not 2 minutes but have the offending player removed for 2 plays. It would certainly be an interesting "twist" for the CFL to pursue. It would make for some dynamic play calling on both offence and defence and might help cut down on penalties to boot.
