This is the first I've heard of a meeting between the Bombers and Claybrooks. There was a rumour from one of our media guys (can't remember who) that Claybrooks was in town shortly before Etch was fired. This is the tweet by Scott Mitchell of the Calgary Sun that said Claybrooks had been to Winnipeg:Scott Mitchell @SUNMitchell Dec 17 According to a source, DeVone Claybrooks was in Winnipeg recently for a "meeting." #CFL #Bombers ow ow ow ow.... Well, in their defense... No everyone reads all the boards posts like we so... plus, attention spans are at an all time low for this.generation.. What were we talking about?

Bombers make $4.5 million payment on stadium debt
Tracker replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The day is gone when people would sit in uncomfortable seats with crappy sightlines and barely edible food. We demand more and are willing to pay more and kodos to all who made the arena and stadium possible. Winnipeg has had the reputation of doing things on the cheap as opposed to Alberta and Ontario who brag about doing things in style, but I see two facilities any city in Canada would be pround of for as reasonable a cost as possible. Anyone remember the billion dollar "Big Owe" in Montreal that is currently falling apart? -

Miller and even the board before him deserved credit (along with the provincial government) for the leap of faith and foresight to build the True North arena as well as the new stadium. The Jets get a lot of attention and play in the big NHL, but the Bombers are (in my opinion) much more an integral part of Winnipeg and Manitoba culture. It is far and away the best stadium in the league and will be for several more years- something to be proud of. The financial plan seems to be working and good on all involved. -

Stupid Walters....Just sitting there not doing anything Wow, you must have stayed up all night thinking about that one. Very clever. Post made one hour after thread created...... I guess that's considered all night at your age Hey! I resemble that remark!

Aw, heck. It's a slow day. Let's start a "fire Kyle Walters" thread. We have the next four months with little news to complain about, so we might as well get started early.

Burris restructures contract with REDBLACKS

With this move, the ottawa franchise has guaranteed the fans a couple more years of mediocrity at best instead of taking their lumps and growing a good, young QB. -
What are you sighing about? You went from 30 degrees to 30 degrees didn't you?

Trestman is a good guy, respected by peers and players alike, unfailingly polite and knowledgable about the game. I wish the best for him- from what I understand, he was saddled with a poor team and a sub-par quarterback. A recipe for getting the sack in the NFL.
-
Before the moment slips past, I would take the time to wish all and sundry who gather here the best of the season with peace and fulfillment in the new year.

Would it have been better if we had limped into the playoffs with this defence which had no clue on how to stop an inside running game and then got humiliated in a semi-final game? We did not belong in the playoffs and if somehow we had made it, we probably would have had Etch and his defence for another year, and by then everybody would know how to bone us, which would mean butt-kickings from day one.

O'Shea is smart to not put all his eggs in one basket. Willy started out on fire but tailed off badly at the end of the year, and there may be some question whether it was horrible game plans, accumulating injuries, a rotten O-line or maybe, just maybe Willy has gotten shell-shocked from the beating he took. Its still Willy's job to lose, but the backups looked pretty good at times even with that O-line, so perhaps who the quarterback will be all next year is not set in stone. We've seen what losing your starting and only credible quarterback gets sidelined in Vancouver and Regina.

Milt was clear that his success was all about determination and conditioning. He said that he was rarely the fastest guy on the field for the first 20 or 30 plays but after that he rapidly became the fastest player.

If memory serves, Julian Feoli-Gudino's catches last season essentially won two games for us in the dying moments. Without those two wins, our record would have gone from bad to downright embarassing.

That O'Shea could not see that or perhaps chose not to intervene is worrisome. O'Shea ought to have had enough experience to know the Etch's "system" was deeply flawed from day one. That's not really accurate. As much as Etch's system is flawed, it worked very well for us in its initial stages and MOS certainly cannot be blamed for smiling…as long as we were winning. The problems arose much later and only were really a problem because our offence got bogged down time and time again. We had our chances to win a few more games last year and our defence was not the source of that failure to win. Having said that…thank goodness that system is gone. Obviously we here do not have the same degree of insight that some one like O'Shea would have, yet more that one poster in this forum predicted that by Labour Day, Etch's system would be found wanting and compensated for. I believe that is what Mr. Brown said in his article- the basics were flawed.

Sanity from DesJardins- who'da thunk? -
This. KJ could read a defense really well, hence why we think he's got what it takes to be a good coach. I think he just needs a lot more experience under his belt. Head coach, probably, but offensive coach not.

Poll: Who Should be the Bombers' New DC?
Tracker replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
For all those still foaming at the mouth at the prospect of a Greg Marshall defence: a) it ain't gonna happen, so get over it and even if it did, could it have been as bad or worse than this year? -
They also worked together at Cal too. I think Tedford & Cortez had a falling out. He either left or was fired by Tedford. I don't think it ended nicely. Yeah that still is interesting. Cortez 'left to pursue an NFL job' and wound up taking the Riders OL Coach vacancy. Cal went through a few OCs during that time period. It's a tough gig to try and stay on top of a Power 5 conference. Why didn't you bring this up today? There are some things that I just can't remember at my old age, Kent. Me too- like the 60's,70's and 80's......

I wonder who is present at the interviews?Mike O'Shea is present. Is that it? Who else needs to be there? No one. O'Shea will have to answer for the coaches under him and therefore ought to have the final say.
