40 separate threads about signing some guy from from somewhere U before camp and 40 separate threads about some guy from somewhere U getting cut at the end of camp...I'm fine with the superthread.

If a player transaction is worthy of his own thread it's usually obvious.

All that said, it's definitely time we overthrow Mike.

Yes!! Pitchforks! Feathers! Hot bitumen! Rallies! Oh, darn, there's a hockey game on.

i don't think so, Henry is fast but there are guys who will be cut this year in training camp who run a 4.4 40.

Speed is nice but its at least as important to read the blocking ahead and make the right decision as to where to go.

  3. Tylor Henry does not have breakaway speed but reads the field really well. Brandon Thera sure looks like another Loffler- loves to hit. Marouf looks like the immovable object- in the clips provided, he fell on the opposing QB and I could not see the QB at all. The Spooner clips were so jumbled that it was hard to follow him at all. Conteh looks quick but unremarkable. The kicked looks awesome in hang time and appears to be able to aim the ball pretty well.

good stuff, marouf is an end not a tackle though. He has the size that he could be a guy who moves in side in a pinch but its not his position currently.

there is actually a video on YT of it, a body cam from one of the officers.

I would think that the probable cause for arresting him was "Black while walking"

  5. I have mixed feelings on this draft. Walters absolutely knows way more than I do, but I was really hoping that Bladek and Judge would have been grabbed by the Bombers, but Gray is far from a shoo-in down south, so burning a second-rounder is not too bad. I was surprised that Herdman fell so far and Augustine wasn't drafted at all and I hope Bombers give him an invite to camp.

Might take awhile for Henoc to get his CFL legs back... I wouldn't say he's done just yet.

Muamba will be around for a while yet, but I do think that he has not shown enough to draw NFL interest again. I'm pretty sure he's a CFL lifer now.

Maybe Muamba decides to leave again?

Muamba has not shown himself to be a dominant linebacker in his second CFL tour, so his "best before"date is probably behind him. I would be sorry to see Judge in any colours but blue and gold, though.

There was a documentary that had actual footage of Vick doing horrific things to these animals. I own a pit bull and she is the biggest wus. People like Vick who should be anywhere near animals are the reason Pitbulls have got a bad rap. The owners are the ones that need to be put down

Pit bulls can be as vicious as any other breed, and any dog can be conditioned to fight and kill, especially if it believes its master wants it to do so. The difference is that pit bull is very muscular terrier, and terriers are incredibly tough. Pit bull terriers were extensively used as, believe it or not, baby sitters because of their patience and temperament.

I'm not a fan of Vick by any means,  but does anyone really know the details of the Vick dog fighting.   I was under the impression that his friends/family used his money to fund the dog fighting and that his involvement was mostly financial.

It's wrong in many ways,  but IMO their is much more poor characters that have played in the CFL then what Vick had done.

It wasn't just that Vick was involved with dog fighting, often to the death of one or both, but that he strangled dogs of his who lost with his own hands. That type of pathology doesn't go away very well.

A lot of Lawless-haters are going to really miss him and his insight.  Must have been a heck of a deal though.  He had to be very well compensated here and being one of the prime guys on TSN?  And basically the media king of Winnipeg?  Vegas must have offered him a ton of cash and a lot of benefits.

Good for him.  Quite a meteoric ride over the last few years.  And Vegas is awesome.

If you ignore the street people and the thousand or so who are living in the storm drains, well, yes.

While he might be an athletic freak he is now in a league full of athletic freaks and competing to take their jobs.  And those freaks have 50 pounds on him in a league obsessed with size.  It's great that he can long jump like a kangaroo, but he's in tough to stick long term.

He opened a door and got an opportunity, now he has to make the most of it.  But that old saying "the rest is up to him" isn't true at all.  He's going up against guys who will also be willing to train just as hard and work just as hard, and where he goes and what he does isn't just in his hands, it's in the hands of coaches and management who all have their own preferences and biases.  Next year they might draft Oline in the first round and then there's one less chair at the Oline table.  Is the udfa the guy who survives that round of musical chairs?

All feelings aside, him being in the CFL in a couple of seasons is more probable than him having an extended NFL career.

And with all due respect to Brian Dobie, the coaching at the college level in the Excited States is waay better, so the grads are much better prepared to make the transition to the NFL.

In an article linked earlier dunk gave stats that NIs that get guaranteed money  tend to stick a good while.

The knock is that out side of the highlights there isnt much else to see over 3 years. DL with an inconsistent motor are kind of scary to draft. Especially no1.

    http://3downnation.com/2016/09/15/breaking-2016-cfl-scouting-bureau/

"Canadian defensive lineman Faith Ekakitie performed for scouts at Iowa’s pro day on Monday – three CFL teams attended, Lions, Argos and Alouettes."

    Found that kind of interesting.

    @mike mulumba is a lber.

If someone that big and that quick was consistent, he would be gone in the first round of the NFL draft, so it is a gamble.

Serious question... why does everyone hate Ekatitie so much?... I watched the highlight film posted above.... he gets double teamed on a lot of those plays... seems to have a high motor and sniffs out the ball carrier well... looked decent to me... but I don't exactly analyse a lot of tape...

People are always making generalizations. Ekakatie looks like a very viable prospect, though.

And straight up lean protein, yo...

But you need that sort of protein load in order to build and keep muscle mass. I recall when my son was trying to make the Bisons football team and bulked up from 185 to 220 (still didn't make the roster) and ate damned near every shred of chicken, fish and beef in the fridge. And a half-dozen egg whites plus lean ham for breakfast. He did lose speed and flexibility, though, and if he had put on any more mass, he could have been legally classified as construction equipment.
