What a weird season 2019 was. Chris Matthews gets stabbed, Nichols goes down, Harris gets suspended, the  meltdown in TO, the snow storm game, Gaitor leaving/kicked off the team, Collaros coming in. 
And that was just the regular season

To also put this into perspective, the guy who maimed my mother for life had his drivers taken away for 1 year. Then he had to pay a very high cost to get it back, 2-3 grand. His parents paid it. He didnt miss any days of work or get fired. He wasnt arrested or charged. I lived in a small town and went to school with his younger brother, and at an earlier point he dated my sister. He bitched and moaned endlessly to all who would listen about not having his license and the cost of his insurance. 
 My ex's dad got soo many tickets and DUI's they took his drivers permanently. (he was intoxicated and flipped his truck on a back road in the middle of summer for the "final straw") Only he drove long distances for work. And his boss hired a high end lawyer who was able to get it knocked down so he could drive for work for 3 years then got his full license back. They listed his residence as his cabin, and since he worked all over basically every car ride could be considered work. 
I can share too many stories like that.
I take DUI very seriously, and personally. Our society does not. Drive around the south east of the province and youll see more intoxicated drivers than drivers on their phone on the weekend. Most people arent good or bad. Every one makes a bad decision every now and then. Lawlers actions past this point will forever come under a greater deal of scrutiny. If he has a minor issue, he may get passed over completely by the NFL and miss out on his window. Half way through this year he's on track to get an NFL deal. If this went worse, he couldve been out of football for good. Id say the punishment, and potential further punishment is in line with the crime. Far, far more so than it is for most civilians. 

One has actual terms defined in the CBA,  the other probably doesn't.
Also extrapolating the worst case scenario is not something the legal system does. Otherwise every assault would be attempted murder.
The league set precedent with the Hughes incident. Did Ellingson miss any time at all? Bet you don't even remember his DUI.
His suspension is fair from a league perspective and he is not out of the woods with the law. 

Drinking and driving.....with the horrendous consequences I don't see why people still do it.....Chances are they're going to get nailed and rightly so.....While I was reading Speedflex's account of his family's nightmare with drink, it brought back a memory I can never forget....My dad suffered from PTSD afer the war and his choice for an anesthetic was alcohol...We owned a Fargo panel truck in the fifties with an old davenport couch set up in the back for all of the kids...I remember going down Main street about 80 miles an hour....through red lights with my dad drunk at the wheel....My pregnant  mother was sitting beside him and all of us kids were in the back...My mom was pleading for him to stop or at least slow down but to no avail...I just watched the traffic barely missing us as we went through intersections...Finally something must have gone through my dads clouded mind that this was a disaster in the making and he drove us home...He continued on and went off to McPhillips and finally the highway where he flipped the truck into a waterfilled ditch where the mounties found him with a broken neck and his nose just above the water line....How he survived is beyond me but things could have been much worse had he not dropped us all off....Drinking and driving should never be an option for anyone and if you do it ....the consequences can be a disastrous life altering event....Don't do it

happy for  Buck, and for us fans....liked him from day one. seems like a very solid person.

1: ZC. He was in the zone, if not for two fumbles he would have dropped 40 on them. He is quickly moving up the ladder in our wonderful history of QB's. 
1b: online. What a dominant group. They play as one unit. Smart, nasty and just strong.  
2: Kenny Law. Showed everyone how good his hands and route running is. Coming into his own this year. Guy is a stud. 
3: really could go to a few guys on d. 
Going with Alford, kid just keeps getting better, he played with an edge tonight not seen yet, his confidence is showing. Similar body type to Rose and is shows no fear in laying into a tackle, gotta rap up though. 
HM: Ali. 3 for 3 is 3 for 3, who cares how short they were. He nailed every fg and extra point. He was also getting alot of depth on his kickoffs.

As an amateur historian who has done a lot of research on the Bombers and their history, the Bombers definitely qualify as a "boom and bust" kind of team.  We win cups in bunches, but only after a foundation has been built, of good management, good coaches and good players.  There's no "one-offs" or "flukes" for this franchise (which is why I knew we weren't going to win in 2011, we just weren't that good, yet, though we sure should have won in 2001 and 2007, those still stick in my craw).  There was the original three cups won in the dominant early days of the 1930's (when we earned our names, the BLUE BOMBERS), then a long 17 year drought, then Bud Grant and Kenny Ploen had something to say about that in the late 1950's and early 1960's, winning four more Cups. 
I joined the Bomber fan base in the late 70's when Dieter was just coming into his own as a huge CFL star, while the Bombers were already in a long 18 year drought, and was able to experience the mostly great days of the 1980's, when we added three Cups in 10 years, the first in 1984, ending at that time a 22 year drought.  I thought in 1990 that winning Cups every few years was just going to be a "thing", but I was naive.  This team historically always needs time to build that foundation, but when it does, boy you better look out.  Finally, after so many long years of suffering, we are back to the "Boom" part of the Bomber Grey Cup Boom and Bust cycle.  May it last a long time, and while it does, I'm going to make sure to enjoy every freakin' minute of it....

It'd help a lot if any rider fans here or on social media would admit that they have just the most toxic fan base. 
They live soo deep in the cognitive dissonance the ones we get pretend to be Ned Flanders to over compensate and when faced with the reality they scream miss treatment despite being "nice".
I've had soo many great dealings with fans of all kinds of football. Even with fans in one of the more heated college rivalry game. The worst stuff I've seen from fans in football have all been rider fans. 
 It's like the worst new York Yankees fans but for a team with bottom tier success. They don't seem to understand that going into other teams forums and fbs when they do it to troll on social media and are soo toxic leaves people expecting the worst.
We get 1 fan from the argos kicking around here and more rarely one from bc. It isnt the norm that forums have a bunch of fans from other teams on their site. But every forum has 20x more rider fans then all the other teams fans. 

Learn not to be a backstabber when you're treated well here.

They are super Rider oriented, but respectful of others on their board. Also, they understand that games are up for grabs all the time. But oh my that Bombers board. What a bunch of assholes. Lions won't beat them, but someone has to.
