  1. Nice for MOS not to run up the score at the end with a meaningless FG.
  2. At this point there has to be no debate right? Nichols is our #1?
  3. i dont even recognize this team. fantastic effort, great drive. d is playing amazing and that was a terrific drive by nichols and the offense
  4. not a great first half but were up by 3. some bad drops, a few bad passes, but overall cant be disappointed with a lead.
  5. Big game tonight. We have 3 very very winnable games on the menu after this one. Toronto isn't a pushover, but if we can win a game here I can easily see us being 3 games over .500 after the Banjo Bowl. I'm very curious to see how Nichols holds up, and if the D can continue to turn the ball over.
  6. I wonder what we could see as punishment? Multiple picks? Jones having to resign and eat the crap on this one? Massive fine? I'd prefer picks and a fine. Something like losing 2 years of their 1st and 2nd round picks, and, a 500k fine.
  7. If the Bombers were able to parlay Willy's savings mid season into a couple important contributing players elsewhere on the ball, I'd do that in a heartbeat. The likelihood of that being available and an option is very low though.
  8. At this point, even I wouldn't suggest cutting Willy this year. Why? Unless you think Davis will out perform or equal him. Then sure. But I don't know if Davis is there.
  9. Didn't know Bond was injured. My understanding of that situation is that he wasn't starting because he was an import.
  10. I don't think anyone is suggesting that depth is a bad look for MOS. In fact I think everyone knows that. The suggestion, which is perfectly legit, is that MOS had the wrong starters on the field to begin with. Wrong alignments, wrong starters. What's so bad about that? Is anyone here really disputing that Bond and Loffler should have been on the field day 1?
  11. I don't know how it is you can pretend like this isn't a huge issue right now. Just look at the 2 game threads post Hamilton games. It's literally a 180 for one group of posters on how they reacted to the game. First win with Willy and it was all sunshine and rainbows. Second win with Nichols, a far more dominant win, and it's all talk about the turnovers and D winning it for us and discussion of woe for the 2nd half offense. I also disagree with your assertion we will eventually need Willy. Why? What has he ever accomplished? He had a stretch of 5 good games 2 years ago and has been inconsistent and a losing quarterback since. And he's older than Nichols. I feel like people clamoring for Willy need to watch Frozen and learn to just let it go. edit: my 2nd paragraph is predicated on the likelihood we release Willy this off season. No one, even Walters, is going to pay him 400k a year for his performance. Barring Nichols falling off and us losing again (and who wants that?) and Willy coming back and regaining a form he never actually had and playing like an elite QB... he isn't a 400k QB. We need to start moving on.
  12. There's two clear minority camps who are talking the most about Willy and Nichols and their effects on the game, whether they admit it or not. After our first win against Hamilton folks like wbbfan had zero negative things to say about our lackluster 2nd half or, frankly, offensive production all game long. Not a peep about the turnovers and how lucky we were. Yet after this 2nd win against Hamilton, a far more dominant win, he and a couple others are keying in on that. It strikes me as a bit hypocritical but in the context of Willy and Nichols it makes sense. They're so convinced Willy is the man, and of his SSK hype and first 5 games that they're willing to look for flaws in Nichols they ignored in Willy. It actually is incredibly frustrating to no end to read.
  13. Fascinating. I wen't back to the post game thread from our first win over the Ticats and you were super positive and didn't breathe a word of the Hammer turnovers or points left on the field. Not a word.
  14. My excitement wouldn't be dampened by one bit if Willy was back in at #1 and was helping us win games. Not a bit. I like to win, I like when my team wins, and losing sucks. Period. That's why I'm glad Willy is the backup .. he isn't a winner. And history shows that. You're also creating a strawman there for me, suggesting I want the team to lose because of Willy. Untrue.
  15. I don't think you have a very good grasp on me. The last 2 weeks have been my favourite Bomber football in years. Willy has been exposed and the team is winning. What more could I possibly ask for? I don't care if MOS stays, in fact, I predicted that he likely has job security now for the remainder of the season. I'm borderline feeling Bomber joy
  16. One specific poster here remarked before the Edmonton game about how concerned the Nichols backers were. The post was very much along the lines of `cant wait to rub it in when Nichols sucks'. The reality is there are a small number of folks here who were so heavily invested on Willy that Nichols doing well is a complete rebuke that Willy wasn't a huge part of the problem. edit: Found the post , from wbbfan I can feel the nervousness of the its all willys fault toxic group as they get to see nichols in edm. wonder how many games of excuses he will get before full panic sets in. im guessing hes gonna be between 2-3 tds and the same for pics. Hit around 10 times. Hard to beat a team all three meetings out of the year nichols may pull it out in edm. I hope mos doesnt panic pull nichols for willy though. If this isn't full on hoping for someone to fail just to prove you aren't yourself wrong I don't know what is. As for me...I've never suggested that Willy was the sole problem. There was clearly a confidence issue with the entire offense, and, the line was not as good as it should be. Bond has made a huge difference, but Nichols is the biggest single difference by far last 2 games. His confidence has cascaded through the entire line up. He was throwing medium to long balls with confidence and accuracy-- something Willy used to do. Can Willy regain that kind of confidence? Who knows. I would place my bet on no... the guy is nearly 30 and never really been consistent. Ever. Not a knock on Willy because i don`t like him. He seems like a good guy and teammate. But you can`t pay someone 400k a year and hope they become something they've never been before.
  17. I don't think I would have brought back Willy if I were GM, but since you brought him back and he's making 400k a year, he had to get the early starts. Nothing wrong with pulling a QB in a game they're not being effective in though. So I'll disagree with some responses here that make it seem untoward to pull Willy earlier in the season. He isn't Tom Brady.
  18. I had the same concern late in the 3rd. Why have our best Qb and RB out there in garbage time? I didn't understand taking that risk.
  19. Are you asking me or the thread starter, who created this thread solely to troll and start arguments?
  20. I don't know why anyone is surprised our 2nd half was slow. We had an enormous lead and got comfortable.
  21. No reason to release him until years end, but this is totally correct. You don't pay your backup 400k
  22. I have no idea what to expect tonight after we won in Edmonton last week. Everything from a Bombers blow out to a Ticats blow out and in between wouldn't shock me. In a lot of ways it's like watching the Jets last year... who's going to show up? No idea. Prediction time, anyway... 20-18 for the Bombers. Nichols is serviceable but it's a ground game in bad weather. MOS is all but guaranteed security for the remainder of the year the win, and Nichols gets until at least labour day.
