  1. Last game, I predicted that Doug Berry would be OC before mid-season.... now, I might say Doug Berry will be Head Coach by mid-season... Calvillo isn't even trying. And neither is anyone else... Really, the bombers finishing first in the east is not beyond the realm of possibilities.
  2. And I agree, he wasn't at his best last year... this year, lookin' pretty good though.
  3. Maybe letting TOs entire defence except for.. McCune?... walk, wasn't the best idea Right now SK and Calgary are the teams to beat.
  4. Hall is 27-28 and bounced around NFL camps... he was learning the CFL for the first four games last year... I'd say he's got it down Anderson, on the other hand, is still learning!
  5. I wouldn't quite say that - the team played really well but their rushing took a while to develop... Either way, so how is this an indictment of Labatte's play? He left, he's still good and that's the way it is... let's not pretend that things are different.
  6. Okay, you got me... Labatte was a CFL West All-star but our line was better - even though Sheets had over 1200 yards - than Sask's last year so its a bad signing. Okay. I'm not arguing that Sask's line was good last year... just saying, that Labatte was still good even if not his best. I mean Sask was breaking in a new NI tackle... that's growing pains. Why say the Labatte signing was not working out - when a. they were under the cap, b. they haven't cut any OL and c. they are doing great this year I guess the funny part is that somehow Labatte was going to Sask no matter what but Taman still overpaid for him... and somehow stayed under the cap. Weird how that works... You would have thought Taman could have save some $$ since Mack had no chance of re-signing Labatte... that guy is an idiot.
  7. Um, Matt Vonk was in addition to the 6 NI legit OL... maybe re-read that post. Or maybe I just didn't word it right. Picard, Heenan, Labatte, Best, Neufeld, Clark, Watman... Technically, Corey Watman has not 'done' anything to be a legit NI OL so there you go... but I would take him if I was Ottawa. And, yeah, Greaves is decent but Swiston or anyone could step into his place in a heartbeat. I just don't think we are on the radar for OL...
  8. Its pretty early but those six NIs seem reasonable - but I would consider protecting Renaud or Palardy if one of them has a really big season. The only untouchable is Henoc, after that, really everyone can be replaced to some degree.
  9. So our line gets credit for Chad Simpson's play but Labatte gets crapped on for two 130 yard games by Sheets... I see. Sask has the best line in the league right now. We are battling to get to mediocre.
  10. But you know that's not the reason he's not playing... if you have a ratio-breaking LT, you play the guy and then just protect him... I mean seriously look at the league - the NI talent left unprotected is pretty substantial - we have so few key NI guys that... well, why worry. Muamba, Muamba, Swiston, Pencer, Kohlert, Watson, Etienne.... ? Maybe? And really no one is picking Etienne and Kohlert I mean SK has 6 legit NI OL... with Neufeld on 9 game and Vonk on PR Montreal can't hide all their guys... especially with Edem and Adebayo on the roster now. Their OL will be exposed.
  11. JJ had a solid game on defence... Washington was a fumble machine last season but we all have forgiven that... We do and have always needed a real return guy - I like JJ as a secondary PR but I would much prefer to keep our secondary fresh. Cutting a cornerback because of two fumbles on PRs is ridiculous.
  12. I'm sorry but Pencer is not on anyone's radar. If Ottawa raids anyone for OL, it is Montreal, Saskatchewan or Calgary. Basically, I see Taman leaving Picard exposed and starting Watman next year. You look at all the centres that have gone - Jones, Norman, Watman - and we passed on all of them for Sorenson... THAT is frustrating. I could handle it if Swiston was our ratio-changing RT this year but, now he's being groomed as a guard... so, yeah, I still see Wpg only being raided for a punter or kicker. If I was Ottawa, I would just pick up Brett Cameron or maybe Lauther if he's left unprotected... Either way, our NI depth isn't good enough to not protect our key guys... Muamba, Muamba, Swiston, Kohlert, Watson... hmm, actually we could protect Palardy and Renaud... Ottawa is not picking Sorenson or Jake Thomas or... ??
  13. I honestly thought Flory would retire in the off-season... Must be time for Matte and Bomben - although Woodruff did not have a great game
  14. Looks like Dickenson still wants a dedicated return guy... would love to see that instead of JJ and even Washington - but how do we fit him on the roster? Right now we are DI at DB, DL and RB... no? Does he replace Will Ford?
  15. By the end of last game, it was Anderson that was getting double-teamed...
  16. Calvillo and his receivers are learning a new offence while seething all game because they know that they could call a better game in the huddle... I don't see this season going all that well for Montreal. And Dinwiddie as 'offensive quality control'...? I mean what advice is he going to provide Calvillo, Green and Richardson? 'Try to make you're eyes more focused, guys. Like really, really stare.' Montreal would be better with no offensive coaching staff. Don't be surprised if Doug Berry gets 'demoted' to offensive coordinator by Labour Day - his schemes are way more in sync with Calvillo than this gong show.
  17. I agree - Ham's D was suspect before their injuries, now they desperately need an airlift of DBs... well and an airlift of experienced/good coaches... But yeah, if Buck/Crowton can't move the ball against Ham - 'failed' is the word that comes to mind.
  18. Yeah, I'd say its better to focus on Parker than Coehoorn and Ianuzzi... Was never a fan of picking Mitchell or Parker... but kind of hard to gloat when we traded up to get Pencer... But yes, Jade will be awesome depth behind Kohlert.
  19. I really would be looking at moving Wojt or even ONeill outside instead of Ingersoll - with Fantuz and Stala down, Hamilton is now getting killed with their ratio. Bucknor and Hinds are not the answer at CB... would not at all be surprised if Plesius ends up getting starting reps at MLB sooner than later... or at least move the NI to safety. Austin's learning curve and injury problems could work out really well for us this season. Then again, a rain game is pretty hard to judge... this week will be fun to watch.
  20. I have to say Hefney got bitchslapped in that game. Where the eff did Taman find that punter. So far, I haven't seen anyone better than Zach Anderson... Maybe Geroy doesn't have a spot when he's healthy. Tate = the new Pierce... my condolences Calgary.
  21. I'd take Edem as backup to Cauchy, Labbe or Dunn... At the very least, over James `Green...
  22. JJ had a very solid game, I would find another option at PR though... Weak link in the D, for me, is still Dunn... he had a big play but aside from that, he is a bit player. - Would still like to see Sears there. Anderson and Parker were awesome. Kohlert, Watson and January had big games. KOHLERT! Our OL is better because Simpson's last surge gives us another 3 yards each play but we were not 'great'. LOVE the dump passes! Crowton, as usual, called some really nice stuff and some really conservative head-shakers... close though. The D will be tested next week against Burris and Fantuz... And, yeah, we should have picked Edem.
  23. Montreal does not have the worst O-line.. they just have a 'mad scientist' as their new offensive coordinator. Watch that game again - when Calvillo took matters into his own hands in the last two minutes, they did well. Its Busey v. Calvillo now... won't end well. We might be fighting Mtl for a playoff spot.
