  1. Yeah, I had noticed this a while ago... and laughed when I read Brodbeck's rant about 'community-owned' versus private... Sask's model is the way to go. Someone should start a petition... I would say the Miller is the guy to transform this organization but then everyone would think I was in love with Wade Miller. Which I am.
  2. Creehan was the worst DC in the league last year... Burke and Mack hired him despite that. Starting to look more and more like Lobo was the biggest factor in 2011... not so much coaching.
  3. Mack's legacy will be Miller trading a first round pick for Joey Elliott.
  4. Ah, the Winnipeg tradition of cutting guys apart once they are out of the organization...
  5. Well, I am going into the bush for the next few weeks... I would like to hear some predictions of where things will sit heading into the LDC - maybe two or three each for the bombers and for the league and a surprise for the season? Bombers (2-6) - Max Hall comes in a wins us one against Hamilton, other than that no roster changes... maybe Swiston but I doubt it... Burke still talking about what 'could have been' with Buck - he's a competitor! - I think Crowton is sacrificed... and Markus Howell is our temporary Offensive Coordinator!!! or maybe Kyle Walters... ha HA... - Kohlert is our leading receiver, Garrett is our starting RB CFL - Huf trades Hefney for picks - Drew Willy starting and looking good, same for BLM - Doug Berry in charge in Montreal - both HC and Offence - Kavis Reed's head explodes week seven Surprise - Joe Mack survives the season... Fired in November. Given - Garth apologizes for something and makes a promise to fans... again.
  6. Three things... I admit that I was and am still trying to be excited about Burke as our coach... but... - Our pre-season defence is actually pretty similar to our regular season D... I thought pre-season was just a big experiment but I was wrong. Did we blitz Muamba or Wild at all... I'm trying to remember... - Did anyone else notice that the record that RIcky Ray broke last week was also against a Burke defence in 2008? I wonder if Burke's record may be inflated because the east's offences were so horrible in 2009 and 2010 - Burke's entire defence is based around small and fast DBs... then he says to the media that if you're too small to tackle then you'll lose your job? Good OLs destroy small DBs... that's why most of the rest of the league is trending towards larger guys... we need to blitz. I want to keep Burke but I think we need to airlift in some experienced asst coaches... This season is getting confusing.
  7. Creehan was the worst DC in the league last year, we hired him and expected results to be different. I guess we were wrong.
  8. I've never been a fan of the whole 'isn't able to play for another team' argument... we all know that different coaches use different Ds and, well, practice is kind of important... unless you're the bombers - then resting everyone and praying that they stay healthy is important. He might be in street clothes... but Hef is an upgrade over any DB we have right now... Suber is getting torched regularly, Stewart (to me) looks like he's playing hurt, JJ has lost a step, Markett is learning the game, same with Washington... Cauchy - well... the jury is out on whether he should be starting... However, you look at it - that team last night looked shattered... Don't be surprised if they guys just start partying this season.
  9. Greg Marshall ran a 'bend but don't break' defence for years... that constantly killed us with long-drawn out opposition drives that resulted in few points but still wore our own defence down. We had good players and made good plays but 'bend but don't break' gives you 'compete but don't win' teams. Creehan's D looks A LOT like Marshall's... and that is not good. I would take Mark Nelson right now in a heartbeat... or even just Burke as full-time DC again.
  10. I'm not saying we didn't use it... when we did, it worked - its the CFL - but I wouldn't say I saw 'plenty'... especially in the 2nd half... then again, I'm not going to rewatch that game to check either, ha. Whatever the case, our halftime adjustments just didn't come close to Calgary's...
  11. I find this strange as well... Cauchy is pretty average out there. Burke seems to have some favourites - Buck, Goltz, Etienne, Muambas, Dunn, Ian Anderson - that he raves about and with everyone else, he is blunt and talks about expecting more from them. Its weird. Broken record alert... but I sure would have rather seen Logan and Hefney (and Elliott and Kent... etc) actually 'lose' their jobs and still be on the roster as a backup than just cut outright - all these years of cutting vets for the latest and greatest prospect have caught up to us. Zero leadership.
  12. 1. Dave Ritchie's quote about rookies and losses comes to mind as the main problem this year and every year with Mack. This team looked broken in the second half. 2. You cannot build a winning team without a premium Oline... January is the only guy on our line who seems to be able to read a defence - everyone else just hopes for the best. There is a long list of problems... these two are at the core.
  13. Oh yeah, and someone teach Goltz how to slide... I mean, really... Headfirst every run?
  14. I am a little concerned that Crowton et al developed and practiced schemes to 'protect' Buck... so we use double tight ends, extra blocking, etc on a lot of our plays... This seems to have reduced our flexibility - there are just some plays where we are still in 'fortress' mode as opposed to moving and attacking. With Goltz, there is no need for this - move him, roll him out, use the option - either way, we are rewriting the playbook on the fly thanks to Buck... I also did not see a lot of playaction - maybe I missed it, that game was hard to watch... like all of them this year.... and last. And how we settled on Sorenson as our Centre... I just don't get it. He is terrible and, well, so is the rest of the line.
  15. Reilly had a nice drive to end that game that Reed completely screwed up... I just want to see Goltz rack up yardage like that when the game is on the line... not when opposing defence has not dropped into prevent because they are so far ahead... Hopefully, we can stay competitive tonight.
  16. I find it amazing how guys are justifying how Etienne was a good pick by throwing Poblah under the bus...
  17. I would have taken Isaac in a heartbeat and would at least look at Knowlton... I mean Rey Williams seems to be doing pretty well in Sask...
  18. We can pretend it doesn't matter... but the pressure to make Etienne succeed over Kohlert and Carter is definitely present. Right now, Kohlert is our best NI receiver and, well, who knows with Carter. Etienne is good too, make no mistake.
  19. QB, OL and OC cannot succeed without each other... Who was it that said the Labatte signing wasn't working out again? Sure seems like he is the leader on that line right now...
  20. FIghtin' for the right to be destroyed in the playoffs... Its like the mid-1990s!!!
  21. We don't have a 4th QB??? I had just assumed that Clements signed on to the PR... wow, bad move - everyone knew/knows Buck would get hurt. I'm trying to still like Burke but maybe he should stop cutting guys - like Elliott and Hefney - just because he doesn't 'like' them. Sure could use both of them now. Our next GM will probably have to give up a 1st rounder for Elliott... ha
  22. Simpson looks like he has no confidence in the OL scheme - he is writing his own running plays... not that the OL is actually opening up any holes.
  23. Why pick on Jovon? Suber was torched all game and then took a cheap shot at Kackert... Everybody looked lost out there.
  24. If Thomas and Lucas both were listed as backups... would that not free up a DI spot?
  25. We could have drafted Plesius and another prospect... shrug.
