I was and still am disappointed with picking Etienne at 4... and yeah, if he works out, rub my nose in it, cool. I'd rather have a good receiver and take some shots on a (no-offence) meaningless forum to be honest. We needed NI receiver help desperately in 2011 (and 2010, 2009...) - now when Etienne may be good-to-go, we also have Kohlert and Carter who appear ready as well... For sure, thats a bonus, but yeah, its a bit late. Whatever.

Maybe ten years ago. Sam is a different position now, look at all the guys around the league - these are lean, fast players. Vets are not moved to SAM because they have 'lost a step', they are moved there because you need to know the game inside and out. Maybe its not every D but Burke's style FOR SURE revolves around the nickelback position... (but maybe he's changed that after last year... ahem, cough, cough)

Wonder why they wouldn't just keep him around and IR him then... They've been waiting on him for a year

What's with all this 'couldn't hack it at HB'... SAM is one, if not the, toughest positions on D. Another weird TC... we'll head into the season with a new SAM, WIL, HB, S (at least).... and then I wouldn't be surprised at all if our OL is exactly the same as last year. We'll find out pretty soon whether our OL looked good because Elliott was good at play-action or if they actually did 'gel'.

Okay, pre-season games are not 'meaningless' if they were, we would just start the season in mid-June and judge talent from practice. The score is meaningless, the performance is not. My concern for this pre-season is that we have now essentially announced that we're too scared to play Buck. Translation: Montreal gets to try out their blitz packages for the first six series of Game 1. What kind of a motivator do you think this is for our defence - they are constantly being criticized on and off the field and now we are heading into the season with a starting QB with five real reps under our 'new offence'... its scary, man.
