  1. You mean the guy who got yanked and replaced by Drew Willy? http://3downnation.com/2017/09/17/darian-durant-hot-mess-right-now/
  2. You hope you don't see more of Davis because that means Nichols is hurt. But I believe we need to see more of Davis before giving up on him.
  3. Collaros generally gets rid of the ball pretty quickly, as opposed to Willy who never did. Willy did stand in there and take the hits though, which Collaros does not like to do.
  4. Brown was a stopper, absolutely. But since you say passport be damned, John Helton was the best defensive tackle that ever suited up for Winnipeg (in my useless opinion).
  5. They backed in to the playoffs. Pretty much the worst D in the league in terms of yards allowed. Offense collapsed too in the last third of the season and scored something like one TD in the last four games. That is average, maybe even just barely average. And while other teams rallied: Sask - Tor - Ham - Esks ... Bombers gasped and, like I said, stumbled and tripped into the playoffs where they didn't really belong because they don't have good enough coaching or personnel. Early in the season they won a couple of games they could just as easily have lost (and lost a couple they could have won) but they are not among the best teams in the league.
  6. I'd hate to face Sask in the Grey Cup and lose, so losing to the Esks today is the silk purse in the sow's ear. MOS said the team was shocked by the loss. But this is a club that was on a downtrend in the final half of the regular season. The 12-6 records looks better than this team actually was, just as the 39-32 score flatters them. Talk about a team out of touch with itself.
  7. The collapse in the second half mirrored the overall collapse in the second half of the season. So the final score disguises an average team, just as the 12-6 record disguises a very average team.
  8. I thought it was OK too. But why run it to the boundary side? You've got all that room on a 65-yard wide field for Flanders to get around the edge. He ran out of room. Plus, there was some weird mix-up on the play and the formation wasn't executed right. But if you're going to run these plays - run them to the wide side where there is space. That is the coaching error, not the play call.
  9. True. So maybe Esks & Riders play their asses off - to win today. Hope so. Should be a good game if that is the case!
  10. The whole idea is to get to the Big Game. That path is either through Winnipeg-Calgary or through Toronto-Ottawa. Which is easier?
  11. So will Esks and/or Riders play to 'lose' today? Because they want to go East? Or do you want to go into the playoffs on a winning note, come hell or high water?
  12. Who is going to win that game between Riders and Esks today? I was expecting a smash mouth game - almost like a playoff contest - with both teams playing for their lives. But on second thought ... Will they both play hard? To Win? The winner comes to Winnipeg and a cold weather game next weekend. The loser goes East and plays Redblacks or Argos. Which is the easier path the Grey Cup?
  13. Buckley gave up 14 pts (one pick 6 and one failure to read blitz which led to a fumble recovery and TD by T.0) the rest was FGs by Medlock. Calgary also had at least one TD nullified by holding. So as much as I absolutely LOVE watching Bombers smack the Stamps - honestly it was just as much Calgary's poor play as it was Bombers dominating. They did play with more energy than Stamps, for sure. Had more to lose I guess.
  14. I want Esks for the reasons JBR puts forward. Esks rely on their pass and cold weather favours the run. Sask would better assure a full house though, and Bombers could use a sellout to help the budget.
  15. No need for that. Dan Lefevour is bigger and faster than Hurl. Put him in there. My guess is he would anticipate the play better than Hurl, get to the right spot on time, and make the tackle. Plus he'd love to blitz and clobber opposing QBs.
  16. Even before today Bombers FG kick percentage was worst in the league. Even before today Bombers D surrendered most yards of all teams on 1st down and gave up most yards on average per play - worst in the league. This is football bread and butter and signals continued major weakness. This weakness is just being exacerbated down the stretch.
  17. Brutal defence. Sketchy kicker. Goofy coaching.
  18. Would be excellent to see Bombers host the W Final! But alot of things need to fall into place for that, as you say, starting today vs Toronto. Here's hoping Bombers just put the boots to Stamps in the final regular season game and make a friggin statement like Riders did last night. I see BLM eating some humble pie today on Twitter.
  19. I think they made the wrong decision. Thorpe looked immensely better than Lankford at receiver IMHO and who knows how Thorpe might have fared on returns? But Thorpe quit on his teammates so, fuera de aquí hombre.
  20. Leggett is the kind of guy who will commit 100% to rehab and come back next year in the best shape of his life.
  21. JFG is very under-rated by Bombers fans. He has been very consistent and made several game-winning clutch grabs for us over the past 3 years. Hopefully he is healthy and not a last minute scratch.
  22. Wilder is out vs Esks, I believe. https://www.cfl.ca/2017/10/12/wilder-jr-likely-saturdays-matchup-vs-esks/
  23. Who was the backup kicker/punter in 2016 then, Addison Richards? You don't keep a marginal player around because they are the last resort kicker.
  24. Bombers didn't give it much thought, obviously. But there are many terrible events around the world and the selection of those 2 events seems arbitrary and jingoistic. What should be the appropriate criteria for a moment of silence at a sporting event? Why Vegas? That was not made clear. If you're going to honour victims of a tragedy that has transpired in a foreign country, why not then the Manchester bombing in the UK? What about natural disasters - why not also honour earthquake victims in Mexico? What about the Rohinga in Burma? The Edmonton event seems a weird thing to honour or memorialize - since there were no fatalities and the perp appears simply to have been a nutjob since there was no evidence it was terrorism and therefore no terror-related charges. As you say, better to avoid entirely.
  25. It was a relief that the usual singer was replaced at the Ti-Cats game, even if temporarily, by soprano Tracy Dahl - who really belted it out in the correct tempo. But then I have another quibble: why was there a moment of silence for events in Edmonton and Las Vegas?
