  1. Okay wait... Jones thought the non PI call against Adams was a bad call. He was seen on TSN explaining to the ref why it should have been PI. I guess the ref learned something and decided that the next one was PI... How could he be mad that one was clled PI when he also thought the previous one was PI?
  2. I would have to guess it has something to do with tax laws and how a bonus is taxed vs salary. http://3downnation.com/2016/02/25/cfl-players-restructure-contracts/
  3. WCB is not funded by the government, rather they are funded by the premiums that the employers pay, and legislated by the government. Therefore the taxpayers would not be on the hook for busted noggins. I would assume, given the nature of the employment, that the CFL would probably have to pay some pretty high premiums.
  4. I heard on the radio today that the Eskimos and Riders are hard after Martin, but he wants to stay in the East. If he does go west, it will be for big bucks.
  5. I'm not saying we don't do it, because I don't really know. However, this seems different than us keeping Cole around. Cole was injured and may have stuck around for treatment. Where we signed him when he was healthy. The Riders are apparently housing a group of players and feeding them, as well as finding them "jobs" around the city. If they are bending the rules more than other teams, I hope the league punishes them big time (Draft Pick).
  6. What's the injury to Hardrick?
  7. I'm not giving Ray all the credit for Maas' success. I just think he benefited from having played with Ray. They actually probably both benefited from playing together.
  8. If a player who was on the 6 game IR and immediately 6 gamed a second time, can he practice? Does he have to wait another 4 weeks?
  9. I never said that I thought all great players were great mentors. No I can't say for certain that Ray is a great mentor, but given the success of those who have played behind him I do believe he is a big part of it. I agree with your assessment that AC was not great with those who have played behind him. He had incredible success for years, and plenty of time to develop someone behind him, but is there one QB who played behind him that had any success in the CFL? You'd figure that Popp, who many believe is one of the best CFL GMs (not me personally), should have been able to find a QB who is just ready to step in. Guys like Maas, Collaros and Harris have all had success in the CFL and have a common denominator of playing behind Ray. At the same time I don't believe that everyone who plays behind him will be a great QB. I just think he has a possitive influence on their success. I am interested to see what comes of guys like Gale and Kilgore as teams get more film on them.
  10. It looks like the guys who have studied behind Ray have done pretty well. I believe playing behind and learning from Ray on the field and in the film room has helped these guys a lot. I'd be after Ray to be on my coaching staff as soon as he retires.
  11. I'm not a huge Denmark fan, I thought he had one good year an that's it. I felt he did a real good job of disappearing a lot, and was really over-hyped for his production. However, given all the injuries to our starters, I think this is a good and needed signing. Welcome Back!
  12. I think we need to connect on the deeper routes, and stretch the field a bit more (when it is still a game). Right now teams do not respect our offense and the threat of a deep ball, which in my mind, will make it harder to run the ball. We all know that a good chunk of our passing yards have come in garbage time.
  13. Another quote from Kirk Penton's CFL Insider piece I found interesting... " As coaches, we always take the bullet first. (Marcel) Bellefeuille took the first one. (Mike) O'Shea's next. None of their quarterbacks can play worth a (bleep). The GM's job is to get us players, and they don't have enough good players, but they'll just blame another coach ... "
  14. The person who comes here and is able to win the Grey Cup, will be a King around here. They will probably get their own statue!
  15. This team could use some Cheez Whiz... There's no personality.
  16. I want a GM that's got balls and some attitude... Not another nice guy...
  17. The whole argument about how difficult a schedule is, based on who we play, is garbage. If you want to be the best, you need to beat the best. When we are constantly at the bottom of the league looking up we will always have a difficult schedule...
  18. If he doesn't report, the Lions likely suspend him and don't have to worry about that. If he's going to be your number one QB, do you really want him to miss training camp? It would be really beneficial for both parties for him to be in camp. I also wonder if he was even given a two year contract offer... Didn't the whole discussion about GMs being required to offer rookies a two year option start with Wally and Cam Wake?
  19. I think Connor is here next year. I don't get the argument that he is one bad injury from not having an NHL career, thus needing to finish his degree. Guess what, that injury can still happen in the NCAA too. Without signing a contract he gets $0. Just because he plays in the NHL doesn't mean he can't still finish his degree. Andrew Copp had two semesters left but hasn't given up on his degree.
  20. I don't think there is much of a chance Laurent comes here. At his asking price it's not like we can pay more than anybody else to make a difference, and it's not like we have much else to offer. Probably better to look at other options and spread the wealth.
  21. I think we see Bilukidi this year. He'll be a 5 year vet in the NFL next year. Minimum salary for a 5 year vet is around $750k, where a rookie minimum salary is around $450k. I think at that point a lot of teams prefer to go with the younger cheaper option. If he's not signed by a NFL team by the end of this season, it's not going to happen. Mulumba on the other hand, has at least 1 - 2 more years in the NFL, since he's still under contract with the Packers. He'll have some time to have some looks from other teams once his time with the Pack runs out.
  22. We all know it happens, but FINALLY some confirmation. Ed Hervey was fined by the CFL for his comments on tampering in the league. http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/football/cfl/edmonton-eskimos/cfl-fines-edmonton-eskimos-gm-ed-hervey-for-comments-about-tampering
  23. I said Barrett in another thread a couple of weeks ago and was shot down, but now that the media is talking about him it seems like an option. We thought you meant Rona Barrett. No! No! I meant Danny Barrett! That's okay though. She'd probably still be better than Marcel...
