yeah pretty much. Soo much potential but hes the QB version of joe first half flemming. Or chris brazzell.

That may well be true. The fact its the top pick changes things though imop. To making a terrible terrible deal doesnt set the market. But your probably right about the starting point being around a first pick. BLM despite being the ****** player of the year and playing on the king maker team in calgary has a value higher then can be quantified. reilly isnt far behind BLM if he is at all. He does a lot more with a lot less imop. Jonathon jennings ended the season and went into the play offs looking real bad. But hes still really young and has worlds of potential. BLM and reilly are worth a kings ransom. Jennings is worth a good bit more then TO paid for willy. The rest are hard to define due to various circumstances. But the next tier of starters are still worth a first. Though more of a gamble. And collaros / harris arent guys id want to gamble on. Or hank.

You have to consider what glenn was traded for. when he was dealt to us, i think most of the league would have taken him over willy for the short to medium term.

then that would be my mistake. Averaged out though 9th the final is about his spot though. which is a big reach from 2. And the point remains the same. Half the first round will have been rated in the top half at some point in the previous year and half or so.  If not more.

As it was mentioned before, the Bombers were not in a position to draft BPA. They desperately needed OL, which we still need. We specifically needed a C at the time. Goossen was the BOLA, as the draft class was pretty underwhelming for OL. Duvernay-Tardif and Foucault have yet to make it to the CFL, and Player (drafted in the 2nd round) has already bounced around the league, including a cup of coffee with the Bombers. If they don't take Goossen, where does that leave them? The CFL scouting bureau is not the be all end all. Teams have their own scouting department for a reason.

I'm still not even sure they are now in a position to draft BPA. We still need an OL in the first round and should also really be looking at a receiver.

As for Durant, maybe the Bombers interviewed him and something about him turned them off. The guy did slide down pretty far in the draft, so it wasn't just the Bombers who didn't like something.

Wait.   So everyone was on board with paying willy 450k (rumoured) but are balking at paying that for someone that played lights out in comparison and lead the teams to it first winning in 5 years.

How fast we forget how horrible it has been with out a quality starting Qb.

take the same approach to willy and let him make 450k.    Cut him if he sucks and is outplayed by the backup.

but for the love of god do NOT rest our hopes and prayers on an unknown like franklin as I can take any more years of brink,  goltz or whatever other tire fire comes along

I'm not saying Franklin is the next great QB, but he has shown a lot more than Justin Goltz ever had.

A few years ago everybody was saying how Mike Reilly was the next great thing, he is pretty darn good. His sample size was pretty low at only 76 pass attempts. How did everyone know that?  Franklin has thrown 157 passes already and completed 65% of those. There could be something there.

Of course Drew Willy had similar numbers too, before he was broken...

These driving times are not that different. Also not in the middle of nowhere, there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. Middle of nowhere would be on the ex grounds.

Is one of the big factors that there is more free parking at Polo Park?

As it's been mentioned, Winnipegers don't like change and year 1 @ IGF was a horrible first impression.

It definitely was easier to get out of Polo Park. You can't debate that.

The Ottawa hockey arena is quite a bit out of town.  It would be the same if the Jets played out of Oakbank..

How can that not be debated? We used to park at Wolseley Plumbing, which is only a little closer than where we park now. We would have to wait in the parking lot to get out, then wait in bumper to bumper on St. Matthews. It was even worse if we parked across the street and tried to leave on Ellice. I didn't complain, we just got to listen to the post game show. Now we walk to our car, not on campus, and we're off. I find it SO much easier to get in and out of there now.

I have a strong belief that because the stadium is at the U of M, people think that they have to park on campus.

The first year was a cluster f, but it has got a lot better since then, and will continue to get better as improvements are made and people figure out what works for them.

  5. Parking at IGF is a lame excuse not to go to games. I drive to every game and have no problems. Also, you don't have to park on campus, there are plenty of lots around where it is probably just as close to walk to as a campus lot but much easier to get out of at the end.

Thing is that it is just different, many people had their routines with the old stadium, and people just need to find what works at the new stadium. Other than the first year at IGF, I find that getting in and out of there is much easier than the old stadium.

I think the lack of disposable income with Jets and the losing seasons are the biggest reasons. The team plays so poorly at home, nobody trusts that they are going to be entertained. Even with the season that we had this year, how many games did you go to at IGF confident that the Bombers were going to kick the crap out of our opponent? For me 0, more worried that we are going to play like poop.

  6. Are we really undersized?  I would say that our front 7 are actually about average.

The only one who may be considered undersized may be Wild.

I looked at the 6 playoff teams and did an average at each position, for a quick comparison.

    Westerman 6'3 249
    Cummings 6'3 298
    Shologan 6'2 295
    Cole 6'3 242
    Wild 6'0 215
    Bass 6'0 224
    Leggett 5'11 192

      Average
    DE 248
    DT 291
    WIL 224
    MLB  228
    SAM 195

Is Hall not at the end of his contract or does he have another year?

I believe only Lapo had a contract that extended beyond MOS's. There is no way the Bombers would have signed Hall to a contract longer than MOS had left on his deal. They had to do that to bring Lapo in, because he wasn't going to give up his TSN gig without some security.

  8. He will need to excel at being an OC before he will be hired as a HC somewhere else. Would he really be even considered for a HC job anywhere, or is just Winnipegers who think he should be (because he's a nice guy)... Our offense is better, but it's not like we're lighting things on fire.

I'm not a huge fan of Lapo, but we really need consistency, which in time will lead to better results. One thing, and I don't think it's the only thing, that I believe has led to some of Calgary's success has been their consistency. Normally if an OC had the success that Dickenson had earlier in his coaching career, he quickly becomes a HC of another team. The players would then have to learn a new system, and new terminology. With the consistency that they've had, the players already know their base and can easily build off that, and just continue to build even more.

Should have refused to start the game until the put the mics on and if they didn't, forfeit the game.

The Eskimos didn't tell anybody they weren't participating. TSN first thought there were technical difficulties with the mics until they realized that the Eskimos weren't wearing them.

I don't know what to think the punishment is going to be. CFL punishments are normally a joke, but you're now pissing off a huge $$$$ contributor to the league.
