  1. For the current junior players they do allow a limited number (I believe 2 or maybe even 3) to practice with the CFL club during the season (the Stampeders might be the club that uses this rule the most). They are there as a territorial protected player and not as a full member of the CFL team. If he was on the PR with a standard contract and not as part of the CJFL territorial rights then for him to be a free agent at the regional combine it means he was released by the Bombers.
  2. He had to sign a contract in order to play the pre-season game against the Ticats.
  3. Carter has aged out of junior making him a free agent vs being a territorial non-counter for Bombers camp last year.
  4. There really isn't a need for a kicker at the combine as the facility isn't ideal and decision makers care less about a kickers 40 yard dash time than a 300 pound OL. The kickers go down to the end of the bubble and kick into a net from 10-15 yards away. When it comes to the interviews the teams can get those out of the way at the regionals now.
  5. I have contacted their Board of Directors suggesting that their policy that suspensions can't be appealed be looked at this off season. Especially in this day and age when every movement is video taped either by the team, the parents or the grandparents if there is a clear visual recording of the incident it should be open to review. Again I'm not blaming the ref for throwing the flag but they should've huddled as an officiating team and discussed whether the block was worthy of a flag, ejection or none of the above.
  6. It's a clean open field block on a punt return. The problem is that refs have that twitchy trigger finger and anything that looks like it was vicious must be an infraction. Put it this way iso if this is considered "Objectionable Conduct - Rough Play" then every time your guard pulled or your receiver blocked their DB out it'd be an ejection. Let's just play two hand touch instead.
  7. In a minor football mess a 12 year old was ejected from a game and suspended for the next (The League Championship game no less) for a block on a punt return. This targeting crap has hit the fan and this was far from a cheap shot. I can understand why the game ejection was called by a minor football ref but to uphold the suspension is ridiculous. This quote makes it seem like a power trip. Let's raise a stink on this and get them to allow this 12 year old to play. http://www.insidehalton.com/sports-story/4195415-suspended-peewee-stampeders-player-will-miss-title-game/ YouTube video set up to the 9:14 mark. http://youtu.be/N8WWCublG2M?t=9m14s
  8. Without the injury to Rob Maver in the first regular season game there's a chance that Parades wouldn't have set any records this year.
  9. Thanks for the vote of confidence Noeller...I think I heard it as the opening line of the next Luke Bryan "hit"....
  10. 2010 the first overall pick signed a record base contract for $200,000/3 years + incentives (pretty standard $80,000 per year deal with the basic incentives and $90,000 with the rest of the incentives) If Henoc Muamba signed a deal for $150,000/3 years then his agent wasn't paying attention to the years before.
  11. Thanks for posting this iso! Just trying to expand the reach of high school sports in Canada. During a time when it can be an expensive night out to go to pro sporting events there is a great affordable option that desperately needs your support!
  12. Career numbers: Nate Coehoorn - 85 catches for 1,152 yards and 1 TD + 5 tackles, 7 special teams tackles http://cfl.ca/roster/show/id/3687 Marco Iannuzzi - 58 catches for 634 yards and 7 TDs, 7 carries for 53 yards + 2 tackles and an INT; 24 Punt Returns + 7 KO returns http://cfl.ca/roster/show/id/2011 Kito Poblah - 53 catches for 534 yards and 1 TD + 1 special teams tackle http://cfl.ca/roster/show/id/4435 Jade Etienne - 20 catches for 276 yards and 2 TDs + 2 tackles http://cfl.ca/roster/show/id/1745 Anthony Parker - 21 catches for 260 yards and 1 TD, 5 carries for 36 yards + 2 tackles, 8 special teams tackles and an INT; 2 punt returns + 4 KO returns http://cfl.ca/roster/show?id=1927 My thoughts on Etienne from the 2011 Draft Guide:
  13. This would be true if there was only 1 other team in the running but the value goes up as teams express their interest.
  14. The big place that it changes this year is with the NCAA kids. From a group of about 30 players it's down to 4 or 5. The CIS to CJFL rule should still be the same.
  15. Steven Jyles? Really? Didn't you guys get enough of him in 2010? 2-8 as a Bomber starter....
  16. The Bisons are playing at home again and it'd be great to see 10,000 there at IGF for a second week in a row. If you're looking for all the rest of the CIS scores and recaps check this out - http://sportseh.ca/article/cis-football-week-3-analysis Lots of time to get to IGF to watch the game, kickoff at 5pm.
  17. Kerwin Bell has a huge network of individuals that would benefit a GM greatly. He also understands the skill set for CFL QBs and can build around that. As for Mike, any coach in the Pac-12 is in a win or find a new job situation. Oregon State has been a great place for him but that won't last a lifetime. He went 3-9 in 2011 and the critics were calling for his job. Anytime someone earns $1.7 million they need results or it ends badly. 2011 article - http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2011/11/oregon-state-beavers-football-poll-monday.html 2012 article - http://eugenedailynews.com/2012/04/21/how-hot-is-mike-rileys-seat/ 2012 article - http://www.rantsports.com/blog/2012/06/17/mike-riley-beavers-coach-on-the-hot-seat/
  18. Yes that's the one. Can you tell I've been discussing QBs this morning? Mike was a bad start to last season from losing his job. His security hinges on wins-losses and he may be ready to step upstairs into a role with a little development room.
  19. Good start. Next step would be to add the years and create a timeline of the changes.
  20. More names for the other category. Duane Forde (I already know how you feel Bomber fans but he's got to be on the list for any CFL team looking for player personnel directors) Rick Worman Mike Reilly Kerwin Bell
  21. 4 straight WAC championships, 2 times WAC Coach of the Year, 5 Bowl games. Boise State had never finished in the Top 25 before Hawkins got there. He's not a bad college coach at all. Mostly he's known for 2 things - the famous "It ain't intramurals" speech and the collossal meltdown vs Kansas that got him fired from Colorado. The chemistry rumblings were the downfall there and it sounds like Hawkins put in a lot of tweaks to the old Trestman system instead of just adding a few pages like they requested. I'm a little surprised they kept Miller around in any capacity but maybe his contract works better to hold him in town rather than buy it out.
  22. Not sure how many ex-Pats are in here but figured it's worthy of posting. June 27th vs Montreal on NBCSN July 2nd vs Montreal on ESPN2 July 13th vs Hamilton on ESPN3 July 19th vs Toronto on ESPN3
  23. Draft item here: Unless things are really changing and the University of Virginia doesn't know it Brent Urban is expected back as their starter in the fall. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/va/ ... hChart.pdf
  24. Don't really buy this at all. I wasn't selling anything so put your money away. Players at the CFL Combine spend an entire day with the trainers that test them beyond your regular doctor poke and check. DiCroce was cleared there and able to participate in the on field testing and drills. The Bombers talked to his doctors and the staff at McMaster to get further injury information and again he's been cleared since November 2012. Michael originally broke that metatarsal in August of 2012, healed in 10 weeks and was given the ok to play in the playoffs.
