I wonder if Ryan Dinwiddie is the first "straight-from-college" QB in CFL history to start a Grey Cup game?

....I really don't want to know the answer.

Dinwiddie completed University in 2003, was with the Bears in 04 and 05, signed with with the Bombers in 2006, then started his first start in the Grey Cup of 2007.

To me, the phrase "straight from college" doesn't take 4 years.

If the definition of "make smart passes" is to do that ultra-conservative stuff, then that's going to be awfully easy for a 1st string defense in the CFl to shut down when they know the ball will never go more than 5 yards out of the hands of the QB, if at all.

You are going to lose any way with that strategy because you can't score points that way unless a team has terrible run defense.

I'd rather let the kids develop their abilities and open things up. That is the only way those #2 and #3 guys are going to develop. They will not learn much in an ultra-conservative system.

Maybe we should use the Power I offense Mike Kelly started in 2009.  Put the RB 10 yards back, behind the shotgun snap.

So does nobody want Adams, is the price too high or are teams waiting for him to be cut?

    Three part question:

    1. Do they want Vernon?

    2. What is HAM asking?

    3. What is Vernon Adams’ contract look like?

There's too much history in Winnipeg for Glenn to come back and be successful. Not sure if Adams is the answer, but a better option than Glenn.

Glenn has had the uncanny ability (luck) to be on a team that needs a starting QB (for whatever reason).  This team may be his best opportunity to play this year.

and I probably do. It's a very American style of broadcasting and I hate how it's seeped into Canada.

They can’t all be Don Wittman.

I don’t know whose bright idea this is, but you’re right. Leave the stories for side shows. The value of the game itself more than carries its share of entertainment.

And please, no more in game interviews. They are entertainment killers..

In game interviews are okay for 30 seconds during a commercial break/TV timeout.  Otherwise, agreed.

And stop showing replays over actual in-game play.  They totally missed a 3rd down gamble yesterday because they were showing a replay.  They don't seem to have the wherewithal to cut away from something they no longer have space for, but that's live sports and you have to be able to make those adjustments.

It was the same last year with the end of the game punt that may have gone out of bounds against the Bombers.  Cameras were on everything in the stadium except the game.

  5. The issue may not be liking or not liking players in this draft.   The reasoning behind the trade may be that Walters feels that we do not have room this year on the roster to stash another first round pick.  If we like the high talent Canadians already on the roster and have to release who we draft, it may make sense delaying the draft until next year

yeah, I think this makes Jacquie's point -- a legit GOAT like Milt doesn't even have a .500 record, it's tough to say anything about a football player by looking at their W/L.

(except maybe that Milt was more patient than the Bombers deserved.)

I agree to disagree.  Some players are individual talents.  Some are team players.  If you look at the games Milt played in and didn’t, the team was improved wth him in the lineup.   I don’t believe you can say the same for Muamba.

I would love Henocvto join the Bombers and prove me wrong, but I think that ship has sailed.

In terms of Henix’s salaries, they only count if he actually gets paid the bonuses.  Otherwise, his salaries are much lower.

All that means is Muamba was on some bad teams.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg.

IMO, if a team breaks the bank to overspend on the wrong positions, it can’t spend money on the right positions.  This is the salary cap era, so one can assume all teams are spending near the cap.

Is it Muambas Salary?  Is it something else?  Or is it rookie QBs?  Or is it that these teams have extra money due to not payi;g a legitimate starting QB?

Reasons aside, he’s one been a starter on one team to make the playoffs...  last year.

  9. I was hoping for Muamba to sign as much as anyone else.  It now looks like we were just a negotiation ploy.  After seeing that, I wanted to see how his play translated into wins over the years.

Muamba CFL Team Records when Muamba plays

    2011 Bombers - 4 wins, 7 losses, 1-1 playoffs

    2012 Bombers - 6 wins, 12 losses

    2013 Bombers - 3 wins, 15 losses

    2015 Alouettes - 1 win, 3 losses, 0-1 in playoffs

    2016 Riders - 2 wins, 3 losses

    2017 Riders - 10 wins, 8 losses, 1-1 playoffs

    Overall - 26W, 48L and 2-3 in playoffs

  10. As for Glenn or Durant for backup, I'd like Durant.

    1. It'd be nice to see him in Blue and Gold, coming in with a huge lead in the 4th and throwing a TD pass to Dressler in the Labour Day Classic.

    2. Glenn needs to sign with Edmonton.

Both QBs are familiar with LaPolice's offense, our receivers, and both are quite knowledgable QBs for development of young guys and sideline help for Nichols.  Either would be great backups.

Additionally, I'd keep Davis and keep developing him.  Short yardage job should be his to lose.

Gotta send out an attaboy to Lirim --goes from the Bomber scrap heap to the grey cup-winning kicker in a couple short years. Love those redemption stories.

Did we send him to the scrap heap or did he decide to leave?

Yesterday’s missed extra point was covered up by the pair of 2 pt converts thrown to Cross.
