I'm not convinced that Addison Richards isn't still in their plans.

We, as fans may see him as a guy with potential, who isn't worth keeping around due to injury issues. But I think that the Big 3 must have something else on their minds than hoping he recovers and hoping he can perform.

I watched him in a practice last year shortly after Darvin Adams went down. For much of the day he was given first team scrimmages because Rory K was taking a knee, and Richards did not look out of place. Call me an optimist, but I don't see Walters/O'shea as the types who hang onto a guy like him without seeing big potential. They also have the knowledge of knowing what exactly his injuries are.....something the fans can only speculate upon.

Cue the Jade Etienne Comeback at age 27.  Sheppard better be ready to give the #88 jersey back.

Last row of the lower bowl near the aisle are the best seats.

Aisle seats are nice, but my opinions have changed that I know like the middle of the row.

    1. You don't have people in your row making you stand and/or interrupting the game.

    2. The people walking up and down the aisle are never in your viewpoint.

    3. You can walk out to your left, and come back in from the right.  Therefore, you don't piss off your neighbours on one side all the time.

  3. Not too loud, but I am in row 6 on the west side (at the same elevation as the concourse level).  I'm sure the sound is different throughout the 2nd deck.

Now if you're talking about the guy that sits behind me, he's way too loud for my nieces and their ears.  I wish I could sit behind him rather than in front of him.

With 9 teams and 18 games there is still no way to do a balanced and fair schedule.  You would play 6 teams twice and two teams 3 times. Someone could play Calgary three times and someone else Montreal three times using this year as an example.

Plenty of times the two best teams met in the west final.  It's still good football. The Grey Cup is about more than just football, it's a national event.  If we lose that it is just another football game.

Are you recommending three 3-team divisions?  Play outside div 2 and in div 3 times?

BC, Cgy, Edm - West Division

Sask, Wpg, Ham - New Stadiums Division

Tor, Ott, Mtl - Refurbished Stadiums Division

  6. I'm guessing the Bombers are getting caught with the salary cap and all of the IR guys returning from injury.  Johnny Adams was probably being considered to be sent to the practice roster, and if the Bombers did so, the Bombers were expecting him to bolt to another team.  This way, they got something in return.

    Good luck Johnny.

That's a lot to give up. He wants $8 mill a year. No team in their right mind would give up two first round, second & third round players for Trouba. Maybe McDavid but even then...

And if he can't sign for less to try get around the draft picks (say like $4 million) because the Jets will match it and make him play.  The contract offer one signs is the contract they have to sign with the original team too.

So, what do teams have to give up to sign Trouba?

Depends on what they offer him.  From http://www.colliganhockey.com/nhl-rfa-compensation-rules-2016/

Calculated Offer Sheet Amount  Draft Pick Compensation
    $1,239,226 or below  None
Over $1,239,226 to $1,877,615  Third Round
Over $1,877,615 to $3,755,233  Second Round
Over $3,755,233 to $5,632,847  First Round & Third Round
Over $5,632,847 to $7,510,464  First Round, Second Round, and Third Round
Over $7,510,464 to $9,388,080  Two First Rounds, Second Round, and Third Round
    Over $9,388,080  Four First Rounds

There are a number of additional rules when it comes to draft pick compensation. Here are a few key highlights (please see CBA Article 10.4 for full details):

    • Teams must use their own original draft picks for purposes of offer sheet compensation. They cannot acquire picks from other teams, however, they can trade away their own picks and then re-acquire them at a later date.
    • Teams owing picks for amounts up to $7,510,464 must have those picks available in next year’s draft (2017).
    • Teams owing two picks in the same round must have them available in the next three drafts (or three picks in the next four drafts, etc)

    Here is the big one:

    • If the original team chooses to accept the terms of the offer sheet, they are also not allowed to trade the player for one year from the date of exercising their right to match.  (i.e. if Jets match an offer by another team, they can't trade Trouba for one calendar year.)

  9. I'd lock them both up now.  Their teams are competitive, their players play hard for them, their players are outstanding in the community, and if we don't sign them, someone else will be rewarded with wins down the road (from the "rookies" that we've watched develop in front of us).

Take a look at the options out there.  There aren't many who are unemployed (or will be unemployed) that I want to replace this group.

Winning, young, and Canadian.  Can't beat that.

  10. Realistically, this incident is not isolated to the Blue Bombers or to just Winnipeg.  Remember the child fan of the New York Islanders at MTS Centre.  Similar things happened and ended up in the news.

There is a line and people should know better than to cross it.  It could be the alcohol, it could be the gang mentality, or both; but it needs to stop no matter what it is.

I've been to many sporting venues cheering for the visiting team.  It can be a lonely experience.  You have to be quite aware of you surroundings and know when to quit poking the bear.  I've covered my jersey on the concourse in some places.

The stories of fans getting beaten, stabbed and killed are true.  It happens in Europe, it's happened in LA/San Fran, and could happen anywhere.
