Agreed, Nichols as MOP is a bit of a head-scratcher to me. I'm not even convinced he's our MVP.

Exactly. If the legality of a substance was based on its harm to individuals and society as a whole (and conversely its ability to help) there would be a lot more psychotropic drugs that would be illegal and a lot more recreational drugs that would be legal.

The difference between the legal and illegal drugs is beyond silly in many cases. Alcohol is probably more destructive then all but the hardest drugs.
If you track any huge money industry far enough down the rabbit hole you find awful destructive stuff. Any time you get such a high value in an industry of any sort you get the kind of people who would do any thing to protect it.

Losing Noeller and 17 to a tornado in order to win a game in Calgary is what I believe is called "acceptable losses".

I was thinking about the other thread regarding our awards nominees and was wondering if Medlock has a place in the MOP discussion. Perhaps he'd have a stronger case if the award was for MVP instead...

I want to say that I doubt she is lying; and I also doubt it was as bad as she made it out to be.  We have to remember that there is a difference between a lie and one persons reality or opinion.  A lie is telling someone something that is completely false and knowing that it is false.  For example, perhaps there were some fairly intoxicated people behind her.  As typical that happens at a sports game, fans heckle fans of the other side.  Even in Edmonton where I go to watch the bombers play, this happens to me as I cheer on the bombers.  Now, this heckling to her could be that they were in her face, being very mean, using terribly inappropriate language and just down right disturbing.  The reality to her is that it was this terrible terrible experience.  Now to myself, the heckling I could consider fun and we can do it back and forth, or I can be like typically drunk idiots and carry on.  I honestly wouldn't consider the language an issue because if I didn't want my 9 year old child to hear profanities I would not have taken them to a place where I knew alcohol was being sold.  I probably wouldn't even take them to a sports game as even in Junior A hockey you will hear much profanity just due to the passion of the fan base in typical sports.  I'm sure even a golfer once in awhile goes "awww *****"
Next it could have been that someone did throw a drink at the child, or it could have been that someone purposely dumped a drink on the child, or it could have been that someone accidentally dropped a drink and it splashed up and hit the child.  Now even if it was the latter, the reality to her and her child could be that they truly believed that someone intentionally dumped their drink on the poor 9 year old boy.  Even if this is far from what happened, keyword is if.  The reality to this mother is that it did happen.  It doesn't mean she is lying if she truly believes that these are the events that took place.
Let's keep an open mind, and instead of putting blame in either direction. Respect that the Blue Bombers are taking the steps necessary to verify what they feel the reality of the incident was; and that they are taking corrective actions to help assist with this mothers reality of the incident even if it is possible that she could be slightly exaggerating.
I think its good on the Blue Bombers for what they have done because in reality this wasn't even someone from the Blue Bomber organization that caused the incident.  It was just a bunch of fans in close quarters who may have taken things a little too far.
    Cheers,
    Tehedra

I wasn't going to post in this topic as I didn't trust myself not to lose it.
So I'm not going to provide any opinion on this incident but will provide my outlook on todays society.   When I was a kid (many years ago) I had a great respect and healthy fear of the police.   Today in my post retirement career I work with the police service and I'm disturbed at todays society and the lack of respect we have for police officers.  So if we show a lack of respect to law enforcement.  Can you imagine how these same people would treat normal citizens.  Especially if a large amount of alcohol is introduced in to the situation.  To watch a 20 something female who is extremely intoxicated run at a police officer, jump on his back and start punching him in the head is something that will forever be stuck in my mind.  And that's not the only example I've seen.   When all was said and done this woman was a student at one of local universities and was out with her friends for a night of clubbing.
I've seen what I would call normal law abiding people absolutely turn in to animals when alcohol is introduced.  Then you add in the extra emotion and rage that sometimes comes with a sporting event.   So I'm not surprised at all when I read about these things happening.
The only way that you significantly curb this type of behaviour is to end the sale of alcohol at these events.  However, we know that this isn't going to happen.
What comes of this?  I don't know and quite frankly I don't care.   But some of you are really looking and grasping at any way to blame the mother and the kid.

Why didn't the kid take off the jacket? BECAUSE THE KID SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. It doesn't matter what colour he was wearing, no kid deserves that.
And maybe it didn't happen exactly as reported and maybe the reports don't all corroborate. There's enough to say at least some approximation of what was reported occurred and that's too much. How you're trying to rationalize against the victim's story is what makes zero sense.

Does this crap happen in every stadium, yes it does. Is that a excuse for it happening in yours, no it isn't. Shame on any of you trying to justify or make excuses for this behavior. Completely unacceptable, lifetime ban from the stadium to anyone involved.

But in this case the kid was bearing a bomber shirt/jersery and put on his green sweater as they were leaving because he was cold.
So unless someone comes up with any other evidence to the contrary, coming up with other reasons or alternative theories for him to have been treated so poorly is really deflecting from what happened.   People can be skepitical all they like but that thats on them for not taking a mother at their own word.. Sometimes its okay to trust what people are telling you.
So drunk ******* ruined this kids experience after the game because he put on a green sweater. He was wearing a bombers jersery underneath and had been cheering for the bombers..

Like i said before, you run to the media to bring awareness to the issue. Its not about getting something free or getting recognition. Its about bringing to light that a few people negatively affected a kids love for the game and stole something from him. That memory will always be there with the kid and will not be a fond memory.
I majored in conflict resolution in school and  before going through these courses i thought  justice circles etc where a joke and and easy way for offenders to avoid jail time.  But after 3 years of school i came around and saw how offenders meeting and listening to how these incidents and their actions affected the victims made a huge change in these people.  When you see the face of the person and how what you did affects them it hits home. you cant just laugh it off or pretend you don't care. In alot of cases it life changing for the offenders.
If someone treated my 6 year old son or two year old daughter like **** at any event i will let them know, i will make sure everyone around them knows and bring it to the media.  Just because someone is drunk and having a great time doesnt mean they can attack, belittle or say **** to my kids. Making memories with my kids is just as important for me as it will be for the kids later on and life and some drunk ******* needs to understand that they are hurting someone.
Look. No one got beat up or hurt and we don't need a lynch mob, but seeing as how the media has picked it up, i'm guessing the culprits have read about it and hopefully spent a few seconds contemplating what they did and how it crushed this kids experience.  If they did, they may never do it again and i think that kinda worth it isn't it?

You're right, it almost never occurs. But this time it did, and that's a problem, a big problem.
I'm not going to sit here and read all of the stories and put together all the details so I can somehow disprove this kid's story, because, well, why would I want to do that?
What appears to be your worst case scenario: a kid and mom make up a story about being harassed to get some Bomber stuff. Honestly, I would rather be wrong in defending them and have this actually be the case then to be so jaded as to assume they're lying because their story isn't air tight. There's nothing naive about that.
