  1. I had similar thoughts... the bottom line is that he needs game time to have a shot at pro football, regardless of what league he hopes to play in. I don't find it that unusual. It's not like he doesn't have ties here too. His dad finished his CFL career as a Bomber and his cousin coaches for the Bisons. Goods also hasn't lived in AB for a while (he moved to Connecticut in 2018) so that might not be home for him anymore.
  2. Sometimes you have to experience the lows in order to appreciate the highs. Could have been worse for Eli though... at least God didn't have him sign in Saskatchewan. That's a low nobody should have to experience.
  3. His interview with Tait actually gives you a lot of the answers you are looking for. The team/MOS had his back and were in contact with him all of 2022, even though he was no longer under contract. He acknowledges his decision might not have been the one the other players made but they supported him regardless. He says his desire to play has only grown during his time away and the support he got from the team. https://www.bluebombers.com/2023/01/18/theres-a-fire-i-feel-it-eli-returns-for-3-years-in-blue-gold/
  4. That's the general consensus from what I've seen on social media... despite their reputations from when they were younger, Jay & Mark were/are good people and even better family men. Jay was driving his two daughters back from a cheerleading competition when they got in to this accident. Both girls suffered serious injuries and one is potentially paralyzed so it's a pretty devastating situation for their family.
  5. They've changed his style at times to compensate for injuries/inexperience in the secondary. He played more traditional when that wasn't as much of a concern. He broke his hand during the Grey Cup game.
  6. Cody and Dane complaining when things inevitably go bad in Regina next season...
  7. Correct. TSN had him maxing out at 116k if he got his playing bonuses (80k base salary). https://www.tsn.ca/cfl-qb-market-tracker-1.1754589
  8. Grabbing the wrong item could make for an bit of an awkward situation. 😂
  9. Having buy-in from the vets on the team helps too. We have a number of guys who could get more through FA but choose to take less to play here.
  10. Most pharmacies are giving them but you can find places pretty easily. https://manitoba.ca/covid19/vaccine/finder.html
  11. My exact thoughts when I read that s**t last night. I guarantee he would not be saying that if Rourke was with any other team. I hope he enjoys having VAJ as the starting QB next season.
  12. Not sure if this belongs in this thread, the tech thread or the movie thread... 😂 https://komonews.com/news/local/seattle-tech-worker-charged-for-theft-inspired-by-the-movie-office-space?fbclid=IwAR33oQrGMqiusLJiHsBy0hm2659xbTK_dX_bdw8Bs_7LypfleS2k-ceB_4M
  13. The way this regime drafts/develops OL, it's not as big of hit as it would be for some teams. We didn't miss a beat when Goossen retired or when Chung left. As mentioned, we have guys already in place to slide in, should Couture not be back. I don't know that we actually have too many draft picks we're waiting on at the moment. Looking at the picks from 2020-22, most are already here or have been sent packing. Cole Adamson is the only one I can think of that I'd consider an up and comer. 2020: Noah Hallett, Brendan O’Leary-Orange, Marc Liegghio, Nicholas Dheilly, Kyle Rodger, Tanner Cadwallader, Bleska Kambamba 2021: Liam Dobson, Redha Kramdi, Patrice Rene, Robbie Lowes, Kyle Borsa, Shae Weekes 2022: Tyrell Ford, Cole Adamson, Chris Ciguineau, Jeremy Kapelanski, Cedrick Lavigne, Konner Burtenshaw
  14. Even if he bounces around down there for a bit, we've got his rights until Feb 2025 (when his contract would have been up & he'd be eligible for free agency).
  15. He's not CEO but he is back in charge as executive chairman. He, as controlling shareholder, essentially replaced the board of directors and they elected him to the position. His daughter resigned as chairwoman and co-CEO. Vince and his longtime right hand man Nick Khan are running the show again.
  16. They wouldn't be slack jawed yokels then now would they?
  17. I know he split time between Hamilton & Montreal last season but afaik, Randle was never signed to us unless I missed something?
  18. He had some NFL interest prior to the season. He was in mini-camp with the Jets & Steelers before joining the Bombers.
  19. I don't think Demski is in line for a huge pay bump. He was already the highest paid Canadian receiver at 165k and 4th receiver overall (tied with Ellingson & Burnham) so I'm not sure how much higher he could really expect to go. https://3downnation.com/2022/03/17/cfls-receiver-salaries-for-2022-season/
  20. He's in year one of a 4 year guaranteed contract (worth over $13 million) so no. Even if that wasn't the case, his status as a first round pick means he'll get a ton of chances down there.
  21. We made Ellingson one of the highest paid receivers in 2022 so without him on the books, the club has money to spend. Will it be enough for both Demski & Lawler? I'm not sure but we should at least be in contention.
  22. 3 seasons - Grey Cup 2025 will be in Winnipeg. Zach & Strevy can team again up to win it all at home before Zach rides off into the sunset.
  23. He's right up there with the HC for the Atlantic Schooners, in my books.
