Hardrick was part of the starting OL for the first seven weeks, I'm not sure you can give him credit for the turnaround. He was good at RT but so was Foketi, IMO.
-
If you can get him at league minimum, sure. But the latest depth chart has Mayo at WR and I'm pretty intrigued to see what he can do there. May not be any need for Chiles...
-
Also true. But you said it's the exact same situation as Mike Reilly but it's not quite the same, that's all I'm pointing out.
-
One notable difference between the two is that the last game Franklin played he was 13/28 for 105 yards. Reilly never had a game like that in BC.

Ehlers - Scheifele - Wheeler Laine - Little - Stafford Connor - Perreault - Armia Matthias - Lowry - Burmi With Copp and Thorburn in reserve? Stranger things have happened, I could see it.

Saw a tweet saying he is practicing with the starting offence today.

I just assumed they were related. Jared Cronk is the guy, he is the assistant equipment manager. He and Tim interact on twitter a lot.

Sarcasm detector broken?

Or I'm basing my opinion of Willy on more than a 5 game stretch where the defence and OL were both playing like trash. You and 90% of this board have given up on Willy - great, good for you. I'm not there yet and I don't think the coaches are either.
-
I think Cronk's brother is one of our equipment guys. Hopefully he doesn't put itching powder in everyone's gear

For the Bombers? Must be 2007. We all know Dinwiddie didn't start any games that year...
-
The special teams sucked before he even got here.. Ultimately it's the players who are responsible. Like I said, I'm willing to give him a shot.
-
Willing to give him a shot. Not sure all the criticism he got as assistant coach for the Jets was necessarily warranted. We'll see.
-
Sounds like Montreal is getting Kenny Stafford and Tyrell Sutton back this week. Pretty big additions, IMO.

Bye Cronk, love u

Then we have much bigger issues, don't we

I'm not that concerned about the backup QB in-game. More concerned about if Nichols goes out long term and we need to start someone else for an extended period. In that case, yes Willy will miss out on a maximum of 4 weeks of practice but will still be able to get a full week of reps in before the next game when he is needed, and obviously all the subsequent games. In the meantime, sure Davis gets more reps in practice. That's a bad thing? Maybe nice to get a better idea what we have in him before shipping out our only other option, no? As for having no SMS advantage because we took Willy off the 6-game, well duh, Nichols will be on the 6-game so his salary is off the books.
-
You'd be wrong though. If there was a proven option sitting at home, or at number 3 here, maybe you'd have an argument. At this point, you either swallow the unfortunately high salary or find a hangnail and put him on the 6-game. Dom Davis hasn't played enough to make the leap and cut Willy and there are no experienced options out there unless you want to call Max Hall.
-
I can't believe this debate is still ongoing. No team in their right mind is cutting their only experienced backup QB in the middle of the season, regardless of salary. That's just pure stupidity. Won't happen.

CFLPA applies for Workers Compensation coverage
Atomic replied to Rod Black's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If it improves player safety then I don't see any issue with that either. We're not going to see Justin Trudeau changing the rules of the game any time soon. -
I don't see how it hurts Willy at all. He's obviously not going to remain under a 400k+ contract if he doesn't regain his starting job this season. However he will easily get a new contract somewhere (maybe here?) as a backup.

I have no problem with players who are unable to work due to injury after football receiving benefits. -
The premise of the article is only true if the team's salary total was going to be exactly at the salary cap. Which is ridiculous, especially at this point in the season. We don't need to cut Willy. Not going to happen.

No Doug Brown please... that's all I ask

I agree he is overhyped. He didn't get a chance to play long enough for other teams to figure him out. He looked good for 2 games last year but lots of backup QBs look good for a couple games.
