Gettin ready to pull the handle and flush this team...It appears the team has no interest in post season play with that kind of effort displayed last night....Ottawa for cripes sake looked like the superior club...Something is very wrong and what an insult to the fans who are selling out the building lately...Looks like Bones has lost his way and the team under him is just going through the motions to finish the year out....Connor has to be benched...ever since his injury he seems hesitant at times to get involved in the heavy going...What a collapse of a , what looked like, a promising season...AND fans who are taking a shot at Helle are out to lunch....the guy is still standing on his head in support of this collapsed mess

  2. Our “other team’s cast offs” have played pretty well this year (and last year as well). It still seems that draft and development and high end trade or FA’s produce the best results however. An  argument can be made that that is exactly what the Jets have tried to do. Perhaps the signings or traded players aren’t as good as advertised? Also, are our top guys really as good as we’ve been told? Do top players wilt at pressure times, missing open nets or passing to nowhere and allowing the other team possession to score the winner in OT?There’s still some time left, but it remains to be seen what we actually are (including coaching quality as well) …

It's hard to really speak to this. Walters took the high road in his comments. Just said Jackson was 100% right, and it's a very difficult situation.

I wonder if there was more communication than either will admit but it was exactly along the lines of, "we don't know if we can offer you a contractor how much we will left over for you". And then he also didn't receive much interest in FA (which does surprise me, tbh).

In a perfect world, I would love these vets to be treated as well as possible on the way out. If we didn't have plans to sign him, or knew it would be a clear pay cut, I would prefer it if we had made that clear from the outset. But maybe we did and Jackson/agent just didn't really believe it. But even though Jackson feels disappointed right now, it all seems like everyone is walking away in a mostly professional manner as they part ways.

Whining to Friesen in an article is far from professional in my humble opinion, but to each his own I guess …

Bighill's comments regarding Jeffcoat from the Wpg. Sun.

"A guy like Jackson is not replaceable," Bighill said in a one-on-one interview Wednesday.

"In my mind, the best all-around defensive end I've played with in the CFL. In terms of first down, second down, his impact on the game has been the best I've seen. You look at his numbers in the playoffs and it's a whole other level. He'll be missed. He's a guy who's not replaceable but hopefully a guy people in the building will be able to learn from."

Bighill, who is on the executive of the CFL Players Association, can't help but be gutted for the players who played such big roles in getting the team to four straight Grey Cups but were not offered contracts this year.

Jeffcoat lamented that there was almost no communication with team management in the lead-up to free agency and Bighill did not like the way things were handled either.

"It sucks," he said. "It's part of the business that everyone understands, but it's the terrible part. For some of those guys, if the club was able to figure out who they were going to be able to offer contracts to and who they weren't and could have come out and provided that information immediately, as opposed to waiting toward the days of free agency starting, it just would have been better for guys ... to have more of a heads up.

"It's just a better way to approach things. More communication is often better than none to little or waiting till the end. But it's part of the business. The most unfortunate part."

Interesting comment from a guy who soon will be replaced …

Two 1100 yard receivers and a 3rd with 880 with having guys like Dolegala throwing the ball at them...  they were not mediocre at all.    It was a position of strength for them.

I probably should have said “middle of the pack” then. I’m just so used to referring to anything Riders as mediocre these last 5 years 😉

Who did Bailey sign with?    If nobody offers him a deal the club could offer him a lowball deal to come back could they not?

Sheed is great and loves Winnipeg but this is a harsh industry and he’s 30 and not getting any younger. He can still perform at a high level but he’s really our number 4 receiver and can be replaced (at least talent wise) with a 20 something guy. This isn’t 2019 or even 2021 anymore. The Bombers realize they have to get younger and sign the important younger players to remain competitive. Why do you think the three big signings this offseason where guys in their 20’s? The great teams retool, the Buffalo Sabres of the sports world tear everything down and start from scratch.

The Riders had mediocre talent at Receiver and at RB last season,  the main issue was that terrible o-line.   They did good this off season to help improve that weakness.

The D still is very poor and we will see if Mace can clean out the trouble players and create a disciplined team.    They also lack depth big time.

    Fixed it for you 😁
