I have been tracking drive based numbers since 2015. The key measurements (in my opinion) are points per drive and yards per drive.
Here are the numbers for the active CFL QBs who have been around since 2015

Believe me, I think very little of Nichols but he’s the best of the bad QBs in the CFL. I suppose he doesn’t do much for the Riders in this hypothetical scenario because this really should be the time for you guys to seek out the future QB as the roster isn’t great right now and you have the luxury of time with minimal win now pressure. 

I'm with you.......all of a sudden there's this deluge of crazy people showing up here with insane opinions. Differing opinions I have no problem with....crazy people is another story.

But again, the sample size of bad Nichols is as long as the sample size of good Nichols. What other QB would get away with a full season where he literally has two good games? Not to mention, he was hardly an All-Star to begin with. 

Up until last year when he got hurt to start the season, he was an above average QB for us.
He has been an average QB since then, he needs to get his pre-2018 form back.
Gotta love the people  who give him no credit for wins and all blame for losses though.

I don't know about "no reason", having less depth will greatly improve parity in the CFL by making us worse...

On Matthews. We are built to win the cup. There is no reason to release him. His replacement right now is making the league minimum or just above. While the only reason to trade him would be if you could maybe get a All-star DB or some major upgrade which on the Bombers there is not many right now.
