  1. INJURIES ARE A VALID REASON!
  2. This makes a lot more sense than Burris. I'm a big fan of Matt Nichols and I think he'll do quite well behind a strong Rider O-line. You would have to think it wouldn't happen until after the Riders and Esks play though right? Don't want to get burned giving a team you're close in the standings to a qb.
  3. with the Riders being as desperate as they are Ottawa should be trying to bend them over as much as possible. Starting Canadian, Sunseri and that first round pick or GTFO.
  4. I am sure there's an official Rider fan flowchart of blame out there somewhere.
  5. you are wrong. Damon Allen was too inconsistent a passer to be considered the best in the CFL. Now a guy like Flutie, he could run very effectively and was a great passer as well, that's why he's pretty unanimously considered the best to ever play in the CFL.
  6. If you've watched the trends for 20 years, you can see that offences always take longer to adjust. It's worth noting that more Canadians start on offense, so it may take longer to find new talent. So it seems that teams are still using absolute behemoths on the offensive line, whereas defensive linemen have been trending smaller for a while, could we be in a situation where they simply need to go with smaller OL who have better quickness to deal with the speedy players on defense? Or do you go in the other direction and just beef up the offenses to smash the puny DL and linebackers all over the league?
  7. Only because I think this is a good topic to discuss, I will make it easy for you. imo the only significant injury that has cost us has been at long snapper. Zach Anderson, Nic Moore, and Jason Vega. and....how exactly do we know that? Have their replacements made mistakes that lead directly to losses. Well in the case of Nic Moore we can see that his replacement is falling way short of the numbers that Moore was putting up and I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Moore brings more than Bryant when he doesn't have the ball in his hands too. So that one is easy, and quite arguably the biggest injury we have. Denmark as a #2 guy is fine, as a #1 he's not really good enough to handle the load. The rest are hit and miss whether they'll be effective game to game. Anderson and Vega are quite obviously huge losses based purely on the lack of depth this team has on defensive line. Looking only at mistakes is the wrong way to look at things. How many plays have the replacements made? Cause we know those other guys are play makers and making plays wins football games, especially close football games.
  8. It was a horrible episode and mostly because Aidy Bryant doing the oversexed fat girl is all she does and it wasn't funny the first time. Complete waste of space. The rest of the female cast is very talented why does most of the screen time go to the useless one?
  9. It's a matter of perspective. You can't really compare the current roster to the one that started the season, mostly due to injuries. It's pretty hard to measure progression when so many guys who started the first game are not playing. It's the same standard for all teams in the league, injuries effect everyone. yes but the point here is that the bombers aren't a deep team and we knew that going into the year. I think what it shows more than anything is that when healthy this is a decent team, but when not healthy they don't have that extra gear to pick up the wins.
  10. Wally Buono was talking about is on tsn when they had him in the booth, his assessment was the extra DI spots help the defenses a lot allowing them more different looks. Seems like it could be a valid assessment. Get more specialized players on D whereas the offense is pretty much static with the players on it.
  11. He obviously should have called the plays that the Esks couldn't stop! what a moran. Cortez has been terrible lately. I would not be disappointed if he lost his job. Yeah fire arguably the best OC in the league because a backup qb in his first chances to start doesn't look good... the things some of you say. If you fired Cortez there would be a lineup of teams picking him up. And the answer to the QBs struggles isn't to do the same play calls every possession. The answer probably isn't to fire him, but he needs to pick up his socks. What plays are there when the qb can't hit his receivers and the OL is getting beaten and the run game can't be established? Football is a pretty simple game, it really does comes down to execution. Qb makes his throws and the OC is a genius, qb misses his targets the OC is a moron. No Cortez is the least of the Riders problems. Welcome to life with a wet behind the ears qb.
  12. I wonder how worthwhile those helmet speakers are... seems there's always some kind of issue with qbs not being able to hear.
  13. People are not looking around at how hard it is to play offence in the CFL this year. There are lots of teams that struggle to score and score TDs. Scores under 20 have been very common this year.

  15. No offense but how would you know? There's lots of us can remember exactly how it went down. Calgary wanted to make a big splash and sign a big name qb to wash the stink of the Feterik era off the team and they paid Burris a ton and gave him the starting job outright. Riders offered him nice money but they were keeping Greene around and wanted competition at the position. Burris doesn't like competition and he likes gettin' paid so he went to Calgary. Why should I be surprised that Calgary completely overpaid a player . They seem to be the Ottawa of the west. This coming from a fan of the team that over shoots the salary cap without fail since it was implemented
  16. It's all about that complex they have where they just think players should be honoured to play in Regina. It's a level of arrogance that is unlike anything.
  17. This team has been responding to Mike O'Shea all year. Never once have they quit, they are fighting until the end of every game. They just don't have the talent needed to win all these games.
  18. hope springs eternal for the homer.

  20. I would argue that they have yet to come through when the game is on the line, at least I can't recall that scenario happening this season? First game in BC? At Montreal? At Hamilton? First home game against Saskatchewan? At home against Montreal? Banjo Bowl, continually getting the ball back to our offense in the 2nd half? Yesterday, again getting the ball back to our offense and holding Hamilton to field goals? Short memory? Yeah the defense has actually been quite effective for the most part this season. I dunno why people don't want to admit it. They haven't been a dominant D that can win games on their own, but it's rare that they have actually completely failed. Given this team chances to win most of the games. The biggest disappointment for this team has been the special teams by far. Expected a lot better out of them but they've made a lot of huge mistakes and basically cost the team several games.
  21. Burris is not coming to Riders. The only people suggesting this are a couple imbecile journalists & a few drunk fans. But the fact fans are royally flip flopping on such a central and traditional concept of hating Burris and actually entertaining the idea of him returning. What do you expect from a bunch of bandwagon jumpers? The whole hate for Burris is stupid anyway, it's long past time they got over it. It was like 10 years ago he went to Calgary. The funny thing is, if you remember the context of Burris signing in Calgary, he would've been crazy NOT too. Calgary offered big money, fresh regime & coaching, being named THE Starter, a job for his wife, and likely a condo & car. SSK offered big money and a last second flip from Shivers that he'd have to compete with Nealon for the starting job. The gap toothed homers have such an inferiority complex with Calgary its mind-numbing. Yeah I just don't get it, Burris showed himself to be a true gapper with that move, leaving Saskatchewan to go to Calgary for a better job. They should love him because he truly is one of them.
  22. Yes there is a lot of progress being made. The problem now is that they have quite a number of injuries and no depth to over come that. The GM needs to get his ass in gear in the offseason and build some depth. When healthy they were winning the close games, when not healthy they are losing close games, it's not rocket surgery here.

  24. He really needs better balance, there was one play I remember where he had a hole but someone got a hand on him as he went through and he just fell forward. Got a first down, but man if he kept his balance he had all sorts of room and likely could have ran for another 20 or 30 yards. He leaves so many yards on the field because he can't stay on his feet at all.
  25. It's really gotten noticeable and I really hate it. Make the call on the field based on what you see, if they review it and it's over turned so be it, but I'd rather they make a call on the field than waiting for the review to do it. So many reviews come down to insufficient evidence that the call on the field actually matters.
