The only real complaint I have with O'Shea is that he won't make line up changes when guys aren't obviously playing poorly. That's cool and all that you don't want to bench guys, but part of really getting the most out of a group is knowing how to put your best players on the field. Sears really is the example here. He sat on the IR for an inexcusable length of time while healthy. When healthy he is one of the top players on the team and you make room on your roster for players like that. Little more proactive roster management from him and no complaints about his coaching.

Lawless: Bombers need to sign Ben Heenan

So if he hits FA lets not try at all? Typical fail attitude. Apparently you're not alone. Pie-in the-sky is thinking this team gets better if we stay with the personnel we have. The point is that he's not bloody likely to hit FA. Saskatchewan boy who is a good player? They'll pay him whatever it takes to retain him and what's his motivation to leave the Riders? The only possible one is money and I don't see anyone offering him enough to move because that's just stupid. Better off not wishing for players you have an extremely low chance of ever getting. It's just a waste of time. -
But at the same time when you have a reputation, and Kuale has a well earned one, you don't get the benefit of the doubt so you gotta stay well away from the line because you used up all the goodwill you might have had at one point.

High risk high reward has been the Etch MO all year, fact is that with some better reading of the play by Leggett it was a loss of yards on the play. I am all for a more traditional defensive mentality here, but bottom line regardless of what is called the players still have to execute.
-
Leggett was looking for the qb all day on that play. He keeps contain on the RB it's stopped in the backfield, instead the back got outside and it was a huge gain. You gotta play smart and make the plays when you have a chance to make them.
-
it's not like guys were being run over when tackling so I don't buy the size argument. The problem as I saw it was that guys took bad angles and tried to do too much arm tackling. You clean up the technique and a lot of those problems disappear.

Who and to where? Seriously, who wants our garbage. We don't have anything of value to trade and the guys we do have of value, man we shouldn't be trading them.January? be lucky to get a late round pick, the guy sucks. Again, when was the last time something like that happened, trading guys for picks? this isn't the NHL, it's the CFL, this stuff doesn't happen often at all if ever. It's rare for sure. And we don't have guys to trade really, the guys people probably want to trade, we could release an they still wouldn't get picked up. Obviously we do have players of value. We have some veterans. I'm not suggesting we can trade guys for starting Canadians. I'm saying our season is done. If we can get any draft picks for any non-core player, then do it. but again, this isn't the NHL, you don't see teams sell off players for picks. They just don't have that kind of value. Every team has guys on the PR they feel are as good or better than the depth players on other teams. Quite frankly the Bombers depth is the #1 problem this year, you won't get anything shopping those types around. Anyone that is worth something is worth more to Winnipeg.

I honestly think the Stamps D got complacent and started playing really soft in coverage. Couple big plays later and momentum swung. They've got another gear.

If we're thinking pie in the sky then the Bombers need to get Owens and Elemimian and Cornish. Just make it happen Walters. -
The problem is... how? What Canadian do we have that we can start in place of an American? I guess you could figure something out like move Morley to RG and start Goossen but I don't know.... If the OL is going to get beaten anyway play less americans there, take Romby Bryant out for a NI (though if moore is back that's less of an option) There will be ways to do it, but we see last night why Sherman should still be a backup.
-
probably because they're non existant. All I saw were over throws and interceptions
-
I still think Calgary is tops in the west provided Cornish and BLM are healthy... but will they be? That's the real question.
-
go ticats I suppose

So are you willing to admit you were completely 100% wrong on your backing of Doege over Sunseri?

Kuale is the worst kind of football player. One who is too dumb to understand why he's been "targeted" for all these penalties. Here's my advice for him: STOP BREAKING THE LAW *******!

He was actually watching Ray's game film, and happened to see Roberts ON that tape, and immediately got a hold of him. Not sure why he didn't continue his pursuit of Ray, but I assume the tape wasn't very good... My understanding is that Ray didn't have to do much when Roberts was there because Roberts got the ball all the time because he was too good.

Used to post on the CFL site a bit back but have found myself not logging on there at all anymore. There seems to be a strong dislike/hatred/jealousy towards THE Bombers and Winnipeg in general there. People just love to hate on winnipeg for some reason on the CFL site. it's the heavy rider fan population. They stack every poll. -
A Bomber loss tonight means _________

Why even bring this up? Positive thoughts people, positive thoughts. -
Yes he was, and Taman signed him to a try out contract. I don't know if that try out ever occurred. I can't find much information about it. It doesn't matter anyway. The reason I mentioned it was simply that Taman has made some good moves in his career.. You can't find out anything about it because it never happened. There is no such thing as a try out contract in the offseason. We scouted him as he was on our neg list and Taman decided against bringing him to camp and released him from our neg list. He was scooped up by the Riders and the rest is history. This particular story does not really flatter Taman all that much. Unless, of course, the point you are trying to make is how he misjudged the talent level of Weston Dressler and allowed him to get away. Actually, the same argument could be made about Simon as well, who phoned the Bombers about a contract before going to BC and was told by Taman to seek employment elsewhere. Did Taman find these guys? Sure. Did he recognize their talent level and keep them? Nope. The fact he originally scouted him is kind of trumped by the fact they became all stars on other teams imo. At the time Simon was coming back he was just another young talented receiver and his position on the team was being filled quite adequately by Arland Bruce. Going back to the start of each careers if you can honestly say you saw a lot to choose between the two you are a liar who is only using hindsight. As it stands Bruce had a hell of a career as well so opting to stick with the guy already there rather than Simon is not a big black mark on Taman.

That's what lazy comedians do. The good ones can be funny in a variety of different ways. I think in Farleys case he really did get typecast way too much. The man had his problems in life but he was a hell of a talent

They could lose every remaining game and it would still be a huge improvement from last year, I think you are forgetting just how bad they were last year. Out of the game before the first quarter was done more nights than not, at least this time when they're getting beaten it's after a close game. I just don't subscribe to this logic. I think it matters where the losses and wins happen. If we had started off this bad, and recently won 5 of 6 I could agree. But were regressing so sharply that has to be taken into account. If we lose every game remaining in the season, including to a terrible Ottawa team, this team is in deep trouble next season. Wins in July and August mean nothing if the team completely falls apart. I just don't get how that's not understood,. You are entitled to be wrong, but when comparing to last year the progression is so obvious it's slapping you in the face. -
Interesting Quote in Pentons weekly CFL Blitz

And you are wrong to do that. Game 1 was lost purely because of turnovers. Our offense generated more points for the riders via turnovers than the Riders offence did. Labour day I will concede the defense most of the blame, they let that last drive happen too easily. Banjo Bowl was again turnovers. The D got the offense the ball back twice in the dying moments of the game, the first one they threw a pick and that was basically it. Can't be turning the ball over like that and expect to win. -
