  1. People are free to take their shots while they can, but mark my words I have a long memory and when the Bombers turn things around I've got a lot of "**** You"s ready to hand out.
  2. He is not trying to run down Crompton, he is simply explaining that your over the top mancrush on the guy is a bit unfounded given the actual stats.
  3. There's even less wrong with being positive for a change.
  4. If the Riders had lost tonight, they would be 9-9. They split the season series with B.C. and they won the point differential by 9 points. Am I missing something? Would they not have finished third even if they lost today? They lost to BC by 13 and won by four. They lost the point differential not won it. I really must stop crunching stats while drinking scotch... that sounds like the best time to be crunching stats.
  5. Getting stronger & bigger makes it easier to absorb some of the hellacious hits Drew took this year. It should help preventing soft tissue injuries better. Of course it won't help when whacking a thumb off a helmet or tearing a knee ligament. If he comes in about 20 lbs stronger we'll see a different player I think for the better. but again, what does that have to do with being tough? Being able to absorb the hits better, pretty self explanatory. Except what you're explaining has nothing to do with toughness. Toughness isn't the ability to withstand injury, though it's part of it, toughness is getting your ass kicked and popping up again to go another round. So how does your point matter?
  6. Help me out here, why is Joseph playing this game for the Riders? I thought Durant was going to be good to go?

  8. yep lot of what ifs to look back on this season
  9. Crapping on Bomber players while making excuses for other teams players is a pass time for some around here.
  10. Cutting taxes and government spending is either some you agree with or you don't. That's the biggest difference between left and right in terms of the fiscal side of it anyway. Lots of people say "yeah raise taxes, keep the government spending going" others simply want less tax burden and balance the budget by reducing services that aren't super important. There is a line to walk. Now cutting the GST wasn't about anything other than a giant middle finger to the Liberals and their little red book of lies. Remember when the Liberals promised to abolish the GST if elected and then didn't touch it? The Conservatives did that basically as a way to say to people "unlike the Liberals when we promise to do something we will do it" It was politics pure and simple. Cutting taxes though is not something I oppose. There's too much bloat and spending from the government cutting taxes and cutting spending is OK with me. There's a lot of other things this government does that annoy me though. It's a damned shame I don't trust the Liberals to give a damn about Western Canada and the NDP are just a non starter. Real tough time to be a conservative because the options aren't all that great right now.
  11. Him and O'Shea are friends. Wouldn't surprise me if O'Shea has already discussed this with him.I could see Montreal firing Higgins and hiring Milanovich to be the head coach there, or if he's going to settle for being an offensive coordinator why isn't he going to work for his BFF in the whole wide world Chris Jones? He may be friends with O'Shea but he's got more and stronger ties to other places if you ask me. Guy like that won't have to settle for whoever comes calling, teams will make room for a guy like that. Word leaked out earlier this week that Higgins will be back with the Als next season. and you think that matters if there's an improvement comes free this offseason?
  12. I think Walters is well aware of this based on his comments on H&L yesterday. He basically said a successful long term strategy is to draft 2 OLineman each draft. One early that can compete with the team this year and one later that can develop and come back the following year. Unfortunately you can't magically fix an O-Line over night. Amazing how fast Drowsy Joe Mack took it apart two years ago. That was like, two days. Lost Labatte & Picard. Now it takes years to rebuild. You gotta stop acting like we actually had Picard when Mack was here. He was never on this team when Mack was here. Never mind that Picard isn't the difference between a good OL and a bad OL either. As per Walters his approach is to draft 1 OL on first 2 rounds and at least 1 on the later rounds. The first picked OL is expected to compete and make the roster (eg. Goossen) The later pick(s) will be sent back to school to develop (eg. Everett) I wouldn't say its a winning formula but it's a lot better than not having any formula at all (Mack) Ehh Mack drafted his share of offensive linemen too so I wouldn't say he didn't try. It's all well and good for Walters to say that, but he's still got to actually get players to develop and become starters for the team, that's what tripped the Bombers up in the past.
  13. Are you complaining because we lose a player that didn't do anything for us and holding it up as a great move of the Als? A guy who isn't good enough to crack the Bombers roster with our serious lack of NI depth and this is the soapbox you get on? yikes. And so you think Popp is stupid and just goes around signing people to contracts because he likes to. He must have seen something and that could mean his versatility. Wake up my friend. Geez. No wonder we float around in a sea of mediocrity around here. Sometimes you just need a uniform filler late in the season. That's all he was for the Bombers that's all he's going to be for the Als, why are you so worked up? Or are you under the mistaken impression that every Canadian player in the CFL is worth something because he's Canadian? There's lots of useless spare part canadians, especially on practise rosters.

  17. Get a feeling Sears will exhaust his NFL aspirations, if none come to fruition, Don't think any will, Think he will come back to the bombers. Hope you're right Goalie but like I said, O'Shea made him a healthy scratch for half the year. You know he wants to play - he'll sign where his best opportunity is (and the most money) and unless MOS changes his tune it's not Wpg - if O'Shea liked him so much, he would have found a way to get him in the lineup. It was only injuries that got him in. And realized the error of his ways, why do you leave that point out? There was a very clear change in his approach later in the year. Rookie head coach makes mistakes, learns from them. This is a pretty big thing you want to gloss over all the time. I don't think Sears will go elsewhere unless the Bombers cheap out on him or he gets an NFL opportunity. Can you really see other CFL teams making a big offer to the guy knowing that he has had problems staying healthy? Maybe Ottawa but again if you're choosing a team on the rise that you've played your whole career for or that **** show in Ottawa it's not much of a choice. what did I leave out 17? Want to read my post again? I said once Sears got back in, he played so well that MOS couldn't take him out of the line up again. Or, do I need to say that every single post I make (check the previous page). You left out the fact that O'Shea seemingly learned that it's a mistake to sit out your best players because he started to be more proactive with his roster as the year went on. THAT is what you glossed over to further your silly notion that there's a feud between the coach and player.

  19. Calgary is the model? I'm sold but how much do we have to pay to get Hufnagel here?
  20. care to give a recap of what makes you feel that way? I didn't catch it.Well I recommend trying to listen to it. But from what I recall, he talked about how much the inability to stop the run hurt us this season. He provided stats on that too...seems like he's clearly done his homework/analysis. He suggested O'Shea knows the run D is a problem but that O'Shea protects the coaches during the season; that was part of his plan going into the season. Said figuring out the coaching staff is his and O'Shea's first priority now; to me that says there's uncertainty there. If this is what he said then the writing is on the wall big time.... but if they fire Etch and keep Bellefool I'll be irate. One is much more deserving of a firing than the other.
  21. holy underrating Ian Wild Batman! Guy had 73 tackles while missing a few games and playing in that kooky Etchevary scheme. I dunno how much you pay the guy but he's better than just above average.
  22. Well I enjoy Maher sometimes but he is really up his own ass and that can be off putting depending on what he's talking about. Moore is a waste of skin who outright lies and twists facts to suit his agenda, kind of like the folks on the right wing news stations.
  23. I have a pretty good guess. Tomorrows Paul Friesen article "Walters says O'Shea won't be fired but is he telling the truth? This intrepid reporter thinks O'Shea should be fired or at very least openly questions by fans, media and management every day until he is fired because that's what I want to write about damn it!"
  24. Except I didn't say people who watched those networks were idiots, I said the people who actually take them seriously are idiots. It's entertainment and I am convinced they're all doing the same schtick a Stephen Colbert except everyone knows that Colbert is a comedian playing a bit, some people actually think the commentators on those news networks aren't playing characters. I will often read the Calgary Sun when I'm getting an oil change, and every single time I roll my eyes at the opinion pieces spinning things into some huge left wing conspiracy. It's obvious baiting and sensationalism yet there are people who take it at face value, those are the idiots. It's no different than those left wing blogs you see people taking seriously too. Most of the mainstream networks do have a bit of a lean to the left to them I won't disagree with that, but none of them to the extent that Fox News or Sun News go in the opposite direction. I say this as someone who has always voted conservative. These imbeciles going full ***** with their right wing news do more harm to real conservative values than they help it and I wish they'd cut it out so that progressive conservatives stop getting lumped in with the intolerant assholes. Conservative has become a dirty word and it's in large part because of those types.
  25. That's because the president doesn't matter. So long as the senators are all bought and paid for the president doesn't have the ability to change anything. That's the biggest reason why people think Obama hasn't been good, they don't accept the fact that the American system is horribly broken and it's the lobby groups that have the real power and not elected officials and certainly not the president.
