Judge spying Crum seemed to keep him contained in the second half, that's a good start.
the interesting thing was that Judge erased Crum from the run game from the second quarter on. But then the redblacks adjusted and Crum started delivering passes from the pocket...
I don't know if the guy is going to have a long CFL career or if he'll be solved at some point like so many other promising CFL qbs have been ... but the bottom line yesterday was that the Stamps schemed very well to take away his best weapon, his legs ... so he beat them with his arm, and he made some real nice precise throws into traffic too. Seems like a pretty promising sign.
(note: I know nothing about coaching football or QBs)
edit: another promising sign: Crum beat Maier by playing clean. Unlike Maier, he had no picks and no fumbles. Rookie run-first qbs forced to operate from the pocket tend to be turnover machines, but Crum has been pretty clean so far, tossing just one pick in his very first game against us.

Crum is not hitting his receivers in stride, he's hitting them standing still -- hard for receivers to yac with their feet planted.

yeah, that challenged play was a football play, not a Mr. Aweful play.
there it goes. Calgary runs max protect vs 4-man rush, the mayor has all day to toss the money ball.

Firewagon football!
Don't have a good feeling about the redblacks being able to make a three point lead stand up for a whole quarter. Think the Stamps are going to gut this out.

Piggy gettin bursty. Needs one, gets seventeen.

the Mayor and the Crumbacker playing some ball, you love to see it. this league needs some entertainment value.
so if you're KJ and you know you're gonna have a LB spying your running QB, what do you call?

HH to Lapo, who is a pretty good color man / analyst I think.
I am so bummed about the state of competition in the CFL these days that tbh I am kinda happy that a raw rookie QB made some plays and won a home game. We need some damn QBs in this league.
What do people think of Crum? Legit dude who clutched out or a one-game wonder who took advantage of a disinterested Bomber team and will be killed by film? Is he a Kopp or a Streveler? He made some precise throws on that final drive, but damn the Bombers were playing with pillowy softness.
-
So with all this talk of easing Wilson back into the lineup, I wonder if the bombers could name him as the designated national and have him sub in for Briggs or Gauthier? He's in his third year with the Blue, so he qualifies, and our regular DN is Grant...
max 23 snaps a game seems like a reasonable pace when it comes to easing a player back in, which is what I hear is happening.

When you're a coach and you've got a talent like ZC on your team, it's your job to find ways to get that guy onto the field.

A graphic of a road sign saying “be quiet, offence at work” has shown up on the IG Field jumbotron at times, so yeah, we are doing that too.
it happens at all levels -- I know I've seen that graphic at Seahawks games in the past decade or so.

Honestly, some of the spots are getting tired.
the best spot I've ever seen was the dance cam at the Seattle T-Birds games.
I was too cool to dance for the camera and then I learned the dance cam winner got to ride the zamboni during second intermission.
If I'd only know. I would've busted some epic moves to get to ride in ice pope style.

HH goes to the coaching staff for keeping McCrae on this year, which was a move that puzzled some folks on this board.

For me the douchebag award must named the Phillion Trophy.
If Garrett Marino had stuck around the league longer he would have been a candidate too but the dude was such a shitheel he managed to get kicked out of the whole damn league.

Biggie and Willie look like they had a buy one get one coupon on stem cells in Brazil this off-season.
TSN had a sideline puff piece on Willy talking about how he was doing some of his offseason training in deep snow now that he's moved to Winnipeg. Prairie snowdrifts + dark web DNA might be the new hot regimen.

Biggie still can’t wrap up though
Who are the good tacklers in the CFL? Every week I see guys laying out big body blows, but good one-on-one form tackles seem rarer and rarer.
I'm not sure if this is true or if it's something I just read, but it seems like since full-contact practices were limited tackling has been real iffy in the league.

My un popular opinion is I’d like to see the lightning bolt reinbold unis as a third for a while. Then we can see a good team in those.
oh man please keep those ugly-ass navy helmets away from the Bombers.
But I think the Reinebold Year 2 change back to a gold helmet and pants really made that navy look pretty good. I've been watching Khari era games on youtube lately and the Bombers look even better than I remember then. Dig that massive chonky nameplate font.

I'm sorry, but I think all-white uniforms make a football team look like a hippie cult

O-train rollin. looking like a classic modern bomber game where we grind em to paste in the 4th.

it's gotta be awkward in the huddle when the QB serves up a receiver and he gets Bighilled.

yeah, that 2019 western final against the Roughriders was a real narrow thing indeed. Hard to believe that we could have taken a step backwards at any position on the field and still won.
