  1. I will always appreciate Coach Bowness for all he accomplished here and the culture change that occurred under his leadership.

I will not be please is Arniel is automatically anointed "The Next One", has he not been the one responsible for our abysmal PP and PK the last couple of years? I always loved the Jets 1.0 connection but he needs to win the job as the best candidate.

Well at least I can get there but I've never been that far into the North End on my own

West Kildonan or Seven Oaks neighbourhood.

The White Top drive in. Where we grabbed supper last night is North End.

and BDI is going to try again with a second location, this time on the corner of Main and Jefferson (near the Redwood Bridge? well I know where those buildings are so I have a good idea where it could be)

I have to assume in the location that was most recently operating as Scoops. Scoops has never been the same since moving from the original location and 9 Below or what ever that place is called is just not the same either. Scoops used to be the best place in the city to get a traditional "malt" or "malted" but alas those days seem to be behind us. Have to settle for the ones from Sargent Sundae for the few months of the year that machine is dedicated to them and not other seasonal flavours. Not like I complain when it changes to Pumpkin Pie Soft Serve in the fall, possibly some of the best ice cream served in WPG that isn't Dug and Betty's. Yeah, yeah, I know what about Chaeban and Fete, I like what I like...

It’s a good thing this draft has plenty of high level and ncaa talent. The athletic performance really wasn’t stellar for a lot of guys at the combine. Hladik fb who stands 6’4 230 and rb Anthony soles 6’2 220 ran best times of 5.0 and 5.19 in the 40. A lot of db/wr/lbers  in the 4.8 and slower range. Many of those guys filling out with 26-30” verts and single digit 225 reps.
I wonder how much of it is these guys not being polished in the track skills, and how much is just low athleticism. It’d be interesting to average out the positions or take the highest drafted lowest athletic outlier and chart the numbers vs the ras and nfl averages.

Maybe the cfl should invest money in a program that helps provide strength and conditioning coaching to cis and junior players.
If the league managed to half the athletic difference from the average player at the nfl and cfl combine respectively, we would see a whole lot more value return from drafts and better calibre of play in the league.

Can’t say much on the other measures but where was the 40 run? Down the hallway of the hotel? Was there sufficient run out room at the end? Measures like that shouldn't be compared unless taken under the same conditions.

I'm bummed to hear that about the recent Samsonite models. I guess that some things aren't made the way (or where) they used to be. I was looking at the Samsonite Classic NXT 3 Gusset Briefcase as a replacement for my daily. Makes you nervous when you can't just walk into a store and physically compare them. You just order it, wait until it arrives and hope for the best these days.

There has to be some places locally you can shop. Here we have a Samsonite store in the outlet mall, UN Luggage and last I looked The Bay still stocks some. When I bought mine Samsonite online & Amazon had it on sale, I was able to see it in person at The Bay but they would not price match so I ordered online.

Hard to go wrong with Thule in general. As a travel bag they really are good stuff and the Subterra line have a nice modern, minimalist look externally. But you could likely get enough in there between their spinner and backpack to last a good week on the road.

I'm the same as you for my workday bag (lappy, water bottle, good ol' stanley thermos in hammertone green just like grampa's was, and my EDC pouch). It's a Samsonite 3-zipper briefcase/shoulder bag that I got 22 years ago and after two decades of rough use is only now coming up for replacing. (mostly I'm a total mark for that company because as a child I remember their commercials featuring a gorilla attempting and failing to destroy their luggage).

I have a Samsonite Xenon 2 Spinner briefcase that I use when I travel to trade shows and am collecting crap all day as I walk around and it will be the last item of theirs I ever own. I have had issues with it since the first time I have used it but none of them were deemed warranty and repair/replacement was denied.

I have the same Stanley Thermos and a Navy Blue coffee tumbler that is one of the best I have used but the 3 piece top is a pain to clean.

I actually just got another trailer for this year, while we're on the crappy deep fried food crap.

Trailer is called " Deep Fried Diablo"

    Deep fried cheese curds

    Df Cheese cake

    Hand dipped corndogs

    Df chocolate bars

    Df ice cream sandwiches

    Df oreo churros

    And lemonade

Will be in manitoba may and June before we head west for the summer months... give it a try if your in the neighborhood!

Any chance you’ll look at a Gluten Free batter and dedicate a fryer to GF items? I know people that will drive all over for that. GF deep fried cheese curds is something I’ve drive to Fargo for…

The idea for this thread is to both be a meta hobby thread which jumps off into existing hobby threads that are already in here (music, fishing, etc...) as well as to perhaps spark some new ones. It may also help you become better acquainted with some of the posters that you've "known" for many years.

So basically just start by listing your hobbies and interests. You never know who may be lurking here who wants to talk about your classic Lego sets or whatever.

    I'm Into:

    • all things motorcycle. Currently still on my Indian Roadmaster, but have owned and ridden all types and sizes of bike. I have taught and trained about a dozen riders over the years and am happy to give advice on how to start out safe and smart. I am Pres of my riding chapter which has a worldwide affiliated chapter system.
    • EDC (Every Day Carry), I spend way too much money refining the common items that I have with me every day. (for those unfamiliar with EDC, think wallet, watch, keys, pocket knife, multi tool, etc)
    • sports wise, obviously the Argonauts are my passion but I am also a long suffering Leaf fan. As discussed elsewhere, I'm also a 28+ year supporter of Manchester City (the only club in Manchester).
    • I am a long time member of a fraternal order which is known and meets around the world.
    • I own a large (and busy) auto repair facility, so any questions about cars or small businesses are welcome
    • Musically, I mostly listen to post-punk, new and classic southern rock, grunge era and classic metal. But I was a radio jock for nearly 7 years and have an appreciation and some knowledge for all types/styles/formats.

That about does it for me. Looking forward to seeing what you guys do when you aren't busy fretting over who your favorite CFL club may draft in the 4th round for depth.

In on the hunt for a new EDC bag with potential for use as a personal item when travelling. Have done a bunch of reading on so e of the EDC forums on Reddit and other places and have a hard time deciding. Any thoughts? Thinking 26-28L, would like it clean lines. Laptop,iPad slots usual daily pack out, Yeti water bottle and coffee tumbler.

I really like my Thule Subterra spinner carryon and am drawn to the Thule Accent 26 backpack.

    Thoughts? Recommendations?

    Interesting take.

Would it be harassing the Accuser if the club has a pile of performance reviews where they were graded as below standard? Had chronic lateness or absences? Had complaints from coworkers and players? If emails, texts and video exist of the Accuser being inappropriate with coworkers?

Nice for the Accuser to have their legal team lob this grenade with no accountability, before the season begins so that the club will need it dealt with quickly. And it doesn't hurt that the club had to cut a hush-hush settlement cheque once before.

If the club had this documentation we wouldn't be having the conversation, no lawyer would pursue this in court after being presented and verifying the veracity of the documents.

Assuming the allegations are true, and I have no reason to believe they aren't, the Argos and Kelly should have simply paid what she is asking for and kept it quiet.

My guess there were other conditions to the settlement that were not financial they they would not agree too.

    Just saying:

It's messed up how they can name Kelly but not the accuser.

They can but choose not too, probably the classiest thing Bell Media can do. If you really want to know her name, you could look it up I’m sure.

Please tell me you are not blindly supporting the team based on fanship? Please be on the side of truth and support the victim, not the assholes with a checkered past.

Face it, downtown is a dump and Winnipeg is not a place where people want to come and visit.  It's the truth.

Have you ever been down Hastings/East Hastings in Vancouver/Burnaby? Makes our downtown look like the Garden of Eden and it's cleaned up from what it was 10 years ago. I do business with 3 locations along that strip and it is not uncommon for the metal roller shutters to stay closed all day while people work inside and the rear parking areas are 10ft fences with barbed wire on top.

Winnipeg is in no way the worst downtown in the country and is not what keeps people from coming here. Weather, ignorance and the perception of what it is like here are what keep people away.

so you're saying the line of food isn't connected to the restaurant chain despite using the same logo (btw one of the Kelvin's Perk's in Saskatchewan is selling the salsa that's why I brought it up)

I’m pretty sure you can buy the chips and salsa at the Red River Coop stores, Southdale or Grant Park at least I think.

as with any city, Winnipeg has its problem areas. It also has a lot of bright spots. I enjoy winter there, and know that many others do, too, but I can see how it's problematic for many. In summer, though? It's the most underrated city in Canada. I very much look forward to becoming a full time Winnipegger before too much longer (or, at least, quasi-Winnipegger.... my wife is a fan of East Selkirk area, and I'm partial to Lorette, but for all intents and purposes, we'll be Winnipeggers before too long...)

Your wife had the better idea, even more so if you come across to the West side. Check out Clandelboye or Petersfield and you’ll be amazed at how great those communities are.

Having visited Winnipeg over the last several decades (80s, 90s, 2000s, 10s) it is shocking how badly things have fallen off.

I can only even put it in the nice-place-to-visit category if you have plotted out exactly where to stay, where to visit and where to avoid (most of it).

    It's reality.

You're from TO and are blinded on anything not Toronto. I had a friend visit for the first time ever in late October, stayed at the Alt across from the arena, walked to the Forks and Human Rights Museum. He couldn't stop glowing about what a great experience he had (Friday to Saturday). I will take the impression of someone that lives in Europe, has lived in LA and travels all across NA every year over anything you have to offer about our city.

PS. I was in Toronto Dec 14th to 15th and spent Thursday evening downtown, thoroughly enjoyed the experience, including the Christmas market. Not quite Vancouver in December but a great experience.

Why did they want Hardrick? Or Kolo? Why do you insist on ignoring very recent history of the team doing this and being successful at it?

Hey, if they feel that a year after they let him go as he was behind too many guys here and he's a good option now that those guys are gone I guess I'll live with that. I just have to feel that he costs more than others we have coming to camp and that the most recent history of poor roster mgmt could lead to him starting over someone that might be more raw now but has a higher ceiling overall.

I'm not sure why everyone is assuming we brought in Lofton and have him pencilled into the starting lineup. Some FA grabs are for depth.

You have to think that Lofton signing this early in FA would indicate that we made him a pretty good offer to come, sure he can get cut at anytime but... Can we afford to pay depth more than league minimum? I can't see Lofton signing today for minimum.

For me it's a combination of the player and what he hasn't shown so far in his career and how much more he costs than a pure rookie. If we are relying to have Neufeld helping this guy be good enough, wouldn't the same hold true for a raw rookie?
