  1. No KFC fans here either, I see. Twonie Tuesdays were a necessity in my Uni days.
  2. Yes, they have that Chester Fried Chicken - definitely decent stuff.
  3. Never had Popeye's - is the chicken any good?
  4. I don't live in the city, but I will try it out when I can. I also like A & W coupons, in spite of their misleading 'health' advertising. Love FG beer - our local store in Clandeboye carries it - always pick up a 6 pack with my scotch.
  5. And the farmland - it's some of the best in the world Grain prices are sky high, and they will not be coming down
  6. I actually like Macdonald's fries, and I know plenty of people that like them The burgers are hit and miss, but it is possible to have a good burger I would not order chicken (except nuggets for the kid) from Mc D or 7 - 11. KFC or Mary Brown is where it's at for chicken If you know of a place with lower prices where the burgers are not hit and miss, let me know where that is Food is going to get more expensive no matter where you go. Canola was as high as $23 a bushel - that's the cooking oil that all restaurants use
  7. Their coffee is as good or better than places where you pay a lot more for it.
  8. I honestly don't understand the complaints about McDonald's. It is what it is - I don't mind it once in a while.
  9. Yes, salaries in Thompson are significantly higher than they are elsewhere - that would be where a large chunk of the funding is going My understanding is that stems from having a negotiations friendly board, who were formerly union members when they worked in the mines
  10. I sit corrected. Thanks.
  11. And I'll bet they told you 'you have paid your dues' when you got a job in Southern MB. I think it's very telling that the head office for Frontier SD is located in Winnipeg.
  12. And with the exception of places like Thompson and Flin Flon, it just gets worse as you go further north I was also against Bill 64. And, I do not want to see anything of that ilk implemented, until we actually have a competent government
  13. Ah yes, 2004. I was attending BU - got stranded in Brandon for 3 days.
  14. In pro sports, maybe. I know there's a long list of other jobs that I could do, and many teachers/coaches are the same.
  15. I have never taken it that way, and I don't think that's how it's usually intended.
  16. Looking out my window at 6 AM on Wednesday morning, things were still calm. But in spite of that, we still got the call that the division was closed. Within an hour, it could have been a very dangerous situation, had the school busses started out that morning. And quite honestly, no harm was done. Kids got a couple days off and some people bought lots of milk. I found it hilarious that people felt the need to justify their milk usage...on Twitter.
  17. I didn't shovel our back steps until a few minutes ago. Well over 2 feet of snow, maybe 3. We also had some eavestroughs come loose from snow load.
  18. Escarpment...
  19. I don't know. The info I'm reading shows snow today and tomorrow, with a blizzard tomorrow afternoon.
  20. Honestly, the BS from PT is beyond stupid. I mean, geez, Winnipeg kids get a snow day once in a quarter century, let them enjoy it We've had 13 snow days in LSSD this year - I wonder what they'd do with that... And equally stupid - Sunrise told their teachers to refrain from posting stories on social media today - so they won't be thought of as lazy
  21. Winnipeg schools are closed for two days - this has not happened in 20 + years.
  22. Highways will close at midnight, but some divisions are still not making it official.
  23. Metro divisions are closing for the first time in 20 years.
  24. There are about 20 ridings where the votes earned by the PPC candidate would have been enough to give the Conservative candidate a victory But there is really not enough evidence that shows they were previous CPC voters - some were even previous Green voters (fringers gonna fringe) https://globalnews.ca/news/8212872/canada-election-conservative-vote-splitting/
  25. You just might be right - a large chuck of the PPC vote was a Covid mandates protest - and we certainly heard the Cons fall all over themselves to support the Convoy They've only got 119 seats right now. Pollievre winning the PPC support back will get them maybe another 10, as there isn't that much real evidence that they lost seats due to the PPC vote
