voodoochylde reacted to blue85gold in When does the bowman experiment end? (Bowman traded to Montreal)Why? Demski is doing everything that Flanders did last year. We don't need another RB on the roster. If Bowman needs to be replaced, replace him with an actual receiver from the PR. Washington or Thompkins.
I'm not convinced that Bowman needs to go, it's not like he's been dropping balls. We really don't know if he's not getting open without studying the film. Lapo just needs to run some plays for him and Nichols needs to actually hit him instead of running 100 swing passes behind the line of scrimmage for Demski.

voodoochylde got a reaction from BigBlueFanatic in Odds and Sods - Winnipeg Blue Bombers at BC LionsI hear this.
I usually don't get too worked up over losses but I'm still mad. BC is not a good team and we went from doing what we should be doing (rolling up and down the field, dominating a lesser opponent) to completely shitting the bed. Say what you want about the defense not getting off the field but offensively we did nothing for two and a half quarters. 0 points. Some of it was play calling .. some of it was execution .. some of it was just terrible play at the most crucial position.
We are too talented a team to lose like that and that's what pisses me off.

voodoochylde got a reaction from Sard in Odds and Sods - Winnipeg Blue Bombers at BC LionsTo be honest, I'd rather see Peterman or another of our NI receivers in that spot.
I was as well .. and I *LIKE* the instinct here .. to go for it .. that's playing to win and I can appreciate that decision. It was poor execution. When you're down on the one .. with the defense one yard off the ball .. don't get fancy .. get a hat on a hat and move straight ahead.

Also, day 3. Still furious. This one is going to take me a while to get over...
-
For what it is worth, we have a couple of Canucks who could probably give us more, than we are getting from Bowman...financially or otherwise.
-
I have become neutral when it comes to this team - they will not get me a too far up or too far down.

voodoochylde reacted to WBBFanWest in Should Walters, Miller And The Board Of Directors Put Pressure On MOS To Fire Hall? You clearly don't understand the function of a board. They are not experts in the day to day stuff and have no business in "demanding" anything. They deal exclusively with the CEO and only the CEO. At the same time, if the CEO has confidence in the GM (which he does presumably) then he does not interfere. And if the GM has confidence in his HC then he doesn't interfere. So the only guy who will decide on the fate of Hall is O'Shea and O'Shea alone. That's how a professional organization works; everyone does their job and only their job. So by all means, continue to suggest that "the powers that be" need to get involved. They won't, because they all know better than that.

That said, just went back and checked .. also snagged a couple in the Hamilton game. You have to take receiver usage with a grain of salt .. we had a rookie behind centre and a guy who wasn't projected to be our starter, he's going to spread it around a bit differently than Nichols would. That said, I'm thrilled that no single receiver is dominating targets. Make the offense that much harder to defend.

voodoochylde got a reaction from yogi in Power Rankings - Week 3https://www.cfl.ca/2018/07/10/nissan-titan-power-rankings-ticats-eye-contender-status/
Bombers sitting at 3 behind Calgary and Hamilton.
1. Calgary Stampeders
Record: 3-0
Last Week: 1
Still undefeated following the bye, the Calgary Stampeders have the mark of a true Canadian Football League powerhouse. They boast the top-ranked defence and the second-ranked offence and are the league-leaders in turnover ratio, as Dave Dickenson’s team continues to perform in every facet of the game. Winning a tough road game against the Ottawa REDBLACKS in Week 5 would create some early-season separation.
2. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Record: 2-2
Last Week: 3
There are two ways of looking at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ 2-2 start heading into the bye: On the one hand they’ve survived a challenging schedule out of the gate, including three road games against tough western opponents; on the other they could be 4-0 right now but have coughed up two winnable games in the fourth quarter. With the CFL’s top-ranked offence and second-ranked defence, the numbers say the Ticats belong right here at No. 2.
3. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Record: 2-2
Last Week: 5
The Bombers have dismantled two of the CFL’s struggling teams this year in BC and Montreal, with a rematch against the BC Lions on tap in Week 5. While a bigger test awaits further down the road, this is clearly a different team when Matt Nichols is under centre. The Bombers didn’t turn the ball over or give up a sack against BC and have the looks of a true contender in the highly-competitive West.
4. Edmonton Eskimos
Record: 2-2
Last Week: 2
Red zone struggles thwarted an otherwise productive day for the Eskimos’ offence, leading to a 20-17 loss to the Argos in likely the biggest upset of Week 4. While there’s little concern for what should still be the most explosive offence in the CFL, the Eskimos continue to lag behind their provincial counterpart at the top of the ranks.
5. Ottawa REDBLACKS
Record: 2-1
Last Week: 4
The REDBLACKS went into cruise control after opening up a 25-8 halftime lead over Montreal, eventually hanging on for a 10-point win. While Ottawa’s offence is explosive, like always, it’s the defence that’s stood out through four weeks, led by new defensive coordinator Noel Thorpe. If that unit can continue to grow, Ottawa will challenge for the East this season.
6. Toronto Argonauts
Record: 1-2
Last Week: 7
It’s early, but it’s not a stretch to say the Argos may have saved their season with a Week 4 win over Edmonton. James Franklin looks like he could do big things as a starting CFL quarterback, while his running back James Wilder Jr. finally broke out with his first big game of the season. Slow starts for S.J. Green and Armanti Edwards are a concern, but the worst should be over for the defending champs.
7. Saskatchewan Roughriders
Record: 2-2
Last Week: 9
The Riders’ trip to the basement was short-lived, as Marcus Thigpen‘s late touchdown run led the Riders to a heroic win over the Ticats. Chris Jones continues to ignore his detractors, deploying a rare two-quarterback system and also playing Duron Carter at corner as opposed to receiver. Whether it works is still up for debate, but for now the Riders take a .500 record into the bye, tying them for second in the West.
8. BC Lions
Record: 1-2
Last Week: 6
It was salt in the wound when former Lions linebacker Adam Bighill picked off Jonathon Jennings and returned it for a touchdown in a 41-19 Winnipeg win. Jennings has struggled out of the gate, and a quarterback change could be on the horizon as Travis Lulay continues to work his way back. On the positive side, despite their struggles, the Lions are just a game back of Saskatchewan, Winnipeg and Edmonton in the West.
9. Montreal Alouettes
Record: 1-3
Last Week: 8
After a brief reprieve, the Alouettes are back at the bottom thanks to a 28-18 loss to the Ottawa REDBLACKS. Still, there were some positive signs. Backup quarterback Jeff Mathews showed promise and got the offence moving, generating 19 first downs and 280 passing yards. Meanwhile, the defence allowed only three points to Trevor Harris and co. in the second half. The upcoming bye week won’t hurt.

The second half foot off the gas on O has me kind of concerned that we are falling into old bad habits...one of the many reasons I enjoyed that game against the Als was that we just kept coming all game, even with our number 3 QB in the game. I was actually worried there for awhile that we were going to see a repeat of the game last year where BC ended up winning it in the end after being down by a bunch. Glad that O'Shea didn't call for a fake punt or something crazy like last year.

voodoochylde got a reaction from shadybob in Odds and Sods - BC Lions at Winnipeg Blue BombersI think one of Neufeld's problems (at times) is his being miscast as a Tackle. Sure, he has the versatility to do it in a pinch but he's much better inside where he's not on an island.

voodoochylde got a reaction from blitzmore in Odds and Sods - BC Lions at Winnipeg Blue BombersIt's was right in front of where I sit and an official was standing RIGHT there watching it all unfold. He may have missed it but it was damned obvious. What pissed me off was we got called for a REALLY weak penalty almost immediately after. Player deliberately kicks an opponent they let that slide but then dole out one of the weakest roughing penalties the following play? Come on man.

voodoochylde reacted to TheSource in Do The Lions Eat Us Up Saturday Night? This is the truth.
In particular, there were 2 big explosion plays that BC missed where the BC receiver was wide open, both of which would have resulted in Lions TDs.
Bombers were also still soft in some pass coverage, although that is to be expected somewhat with the lead, and Jennings was not accurate enough for it to matter much.
It was a much better game for the Bomber D, and the turnovers and good pressure up front sure helped, but many of the old tendencies are still there.
-
voodoochylde reacted to Blueandgold in Do The Lions Eat Us Up Saturday Night? Not to take anything away from our D because they played a great game, but Jennings missed a lot of easy throws and was flat out terrible. It's easy to look good when you're playing QB's as bad as Jennings or Willy.
We need to have a game like this against Reilly, BLM or even Trevor Harris.

voodoochylde reacted to SpeedFlex27 in The Day Early Game Day Thread BC @ WPGDidn't see the game. My son got married & I was busy. But I checked the score on my phone as the evening progressed. Amazing the confidence a veteran qb in Nichols brings to the Bombers. Streveler will be so much better with the experience he gained the first 3 games. Hopefully Nichols can go forward & keep playing well.
