  1. Be sure to join us in the chat room this evening during the game!
  2. If he was reffing last nights game, that means he shouldn't be involved in ours tonight. And that can only be good news.
  3. Be sure to check out this week's instalment. Bring your gin for this one! http://morningbigblue.com/community/blog/4/entry-30-odds-and-sods-2014-no4-edmonton-eskimos-vs-winnipeg-blue-bombers/
  4. With a combined 7 wins last year, this year's two undefeated teams at 3-0 each go head to head. Clash of the titans, and there can be only one who remains undefeated after tonight. Looks to be a fantastic day weather wise, with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a SW wind at 14 KM/H come game time. For those not at the game (and really, if you are in town, you should come to the game to help reach our first sell out), join us in the chat room come game time.
  5. Canadian law has nothing to do with American precedent. The NFL lawsuit and payout will have absolutely nothing to do with the CFL. It is real tough to stretch back that far. You have to prove that the CFL knowingly let people play with concussions and knew that it would be damaging to them. Back then, concussion science and knowledge was no where near to what it is now.
  6. So, let's say Bruce wins & gets $5 million in damages that's a hit of over half a mill per team. If it's upwards of $10 to $20 mill, you do the math. More? The floodgates will open. Keep laughin', guys. Who says he is getting $5 million. Who says he even wins. You just pulled that number out of thin air. I say he gets $5k. Now it doesn't look so bad. You get million dollar verdicts with punitive damages, and punitive damages are very difficult to prove and receive in Canada. And who is laughing? Why is it whenever someone disagrees with you, you take it so personally? No one has said that this is a joke, it is just not the slam dunk you think it is. Canada is not the litigious society that the States are.
  7. Since this lawsuit is in Canada and not the States, if any damages are awarded, it won't be anywhere near what they could get in the states.
  8. Used to be the CFL did have a salary cap exemption. One per team for marquee players and it almost bankrupt the league.
  9. Nothing compares to being there live, screaming and cheering with 30,000 of your closest friends for a Blue Bomber win.
  10. Found these tweets interesting, the first being that the KHL salary cap is going down, this is good for the future of retaining NHL players. The 2nd is that Burmistrov's salary is exempt because he is considered valuable to the league! Wonder what their criteria is for exemptions, is a player per team or something else.
  11. I'll give you a B- …….but only because you didn't show your work. But I did show my work! Sentence by sentence.
  12. I don't know what the rule is on the crossover, but I think it is mathematically possible to have a double cross over. But unlikely. Suppose the Eastern teams all lose all of their games to the West. With 5 Western teams, that is 10 losses for each Eastern team. Now suppose one of the Eastern teams wins all of their Eastern games, that puts them at 8 - 10. And if one of the Eastern teams also loses all of their Eastern games, that puts them at 0 - 18, that leaves the remaining Eastern teams with a record of 4 - 14. Since all of the Western teams won at least all of their games against the East, that puts them at a minimum of 8 wins, and better then the lowest 3 Eastern teams. And that is all of the Math that I feel like doing for the day....
  13. I don't know if he gets cut but he's gotta be conjuring up some memories of Kamau & Adarius Bowman for Glenn! I think he is safe now.
  14. A chance for new members to introduce themselves to the MorningBigBlue community.
  15. Absolutely no to both. What happens when the cap is hit, it is open season on all players to do whatever they want? Thats ridiculous. If players can't play a clean game, they deserve the penalty. They shouldn't be fined either. Reffing is one of the toughest and thankless jobs out there. Their performance should definitely be measured, assessed and graded. And if they are found wanting, then demoted / fired. And that should be done behind the scenes and not made public.
  16. Be sure to check out the latest instalment! http://morningbigblue.com/community/blog/4/entry-29-odds-and-sods-2014-no3-blue-bombers-at-montreal-als/

  19. Deadline for your picks is before the start of the Bomber name tomorrow. Picks can be made here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=games&pid=5&wid=50 Leaderboard can be viewed here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=leaderboard&pid=5&wid=49 bearpants, kelownabomberfan, and KptKrunch all had a stellar week last week going 3 for 4! Noeller is still in the lead with 6 correct overall, but a bunch of people with 5 nipping at his heels.
  20. The new salaries don't kick in until next year. Old contracts this year.
  21. Smart move locking up their two superstars or are they handcuffing themselves against the cap for the first half of these contracts until the cap goes up enough?
  22. as much as i'd hate it, i could see him in Hamilsmell if the TiCats flounder and Austin goes. Except he is still under contract here. Best case scenario, is he continues on the same trajectory he has started on, brings Winnipeg its first Grey Cup in 20+ years, is given the keys to the city, streets named after him and hailed as a football god here. As O'Shea bonds to the city, the players, and what he is building here, he doesn't strike me as the type to just leave that to go home unless something goes horribly wrong. Worst case scenario is he flames out and gets uncerimoniously fired. I don't think this is the direction we are trending. With the current head office the Bombers have, I would bet on Austin being fired before O'Shea. he and his wife and all of their roots are from here. he'll be back. I don't doubt he will be back one day, don't think it will be in time to replace Austin.

  24. http://cfl.ca/roster/show/id/4931 5 defensive tackles in 2 games is pretty good so far this year. I can see him continue to get snaps as part of the regular rotation on D. He hasn't looked out of place.
