J5V got a reaction from Wanna-B-Fanboy in Covid-19
Hindsight is 20-20 and it's easy for me to prognosticate now on what should have been done before the lock-down but the truth is it was hard to know what to do. It certainly didn't help anyone to think clearly with the media blaring "Death by Covid" multiple times per day and flashing all those nasty-looking green and red coronavirus pics. To answer your first question honestly, I probably would have done exactly what we did, maybe even sooner.
That said and again with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight it seems clear to me that very early on we knew the at-risk people were those with any kind of compromised immune system -- the sick and the elderly. I would have done everything possible to isolate and protect those people. After that, I would have sought out the advice of experienced health care workers from around the world and then decided on the next course of action which probably would have involved letting the kids go back to school and getting the economy rolling by letting people not at risk return to work not unlike what Sweden has done. I think sooner or later we are all going to be exposed to this virus. Yes it sucks that it can take 18 months to develop a vaccine but quarantining everyone may only drag this thing out for too long. We're about to see if that's true.
I'd like to see the govt lift all restrictions on the young and strong while keeping the most vulnerable isolated and safe. If infections spike among the young and strong, as it most likely will, we can monitor it but the vast majority should be just fine. They'll build antibodies and eventually herd immunity will be achieved, something that has to happen anyway, otherwise we'll be doomed to repeat this lock-down cycle repeatedly which I don't think anyone wants.
What I don't want the govt to do is let the economy collapse completely over a long period of time with devastating consequences just to delay the inevitable.

God I can't wait to go shopping again (I won't go everywhere at once of course, there's only one place I want to go to next week) and when I do I will keep wearing my mask.
so it looks like until that border reopens again, I'll just mentally visualize the old Holiday Inn in Grand Forks (the one that was there before the Express was)
Fingers crossed that we'll be at a point where Manyfest will still go on in September (that's kind of all I have to look forward to this year)

That is by far the worst case scenario and the worst possible outcome of the lock-down strategy. If we end up cycling through repeated lock-downs that means that all we've really done is prolonged this thing and destroyed our economy in the process. I really hope you're wrong but fear you may be right.

I think Ambrosie will get some $$$ from the feds but $150 mil. sounds crazy-high to me. He'll take what's offered and make it work.

Just re-watched the last game of the regular season, the home game vs. Calgary. What a great game. You could see the confidence building in the team as Collaros led them down the field for the game winning field goal. That Bo Levi is just such an arrogant turd, listening to him "miked up" all game I was just wanting to punch him through the screen. I also saw the Calgary player who was in the end zone, number 83 Josh Huff I believe, fling his helmet about 30 yards down the field at the end of the game. Total class act.
Anyway, that was Game 1. Now going to watch the remaining 3 games of the season in succession. Re-live the whole drive to the Cup. 👍

J5V reacted to Noeller in Covid-19
I had a bit of a wake up call over the weekend, when my anxiety and depression hit me SUPER hard and put a good scare into me, and I've decided that I'm not going to focus as much on the "negative". It's easy to say "I can't do this, I can't do that" because of COVID. So I'm choosing to focus on the things I will be able to do. Golf is going to be acceptable in a limited capacity. I'm fairly confident I'm going to be able to take my boat out and go fishing this summer. I'm going to spend more time in my backyard doing gardening and such.
There's a ton of negative over all of us right now, and it's CRUCIAL for your own sanity to try and focus on every bit of positive you can find.

It's just wild how all these PHDs, professors, biologists, and scientists that have the credentials, tenure, and support of so many and have dedicated their lives to helping people are just a bunch of conspiracy theorist crackpots. I don't know how you guys just know this to be fact.
The safe thing to do is to just trust in our governments, the big corporations, and the mass media because they always tell us the truth and if they aren't, well, it's for our own good. Right?

J5V got a reaction from JBombers in 2020 CFL Draft
The Taiter makes mention of the fact that we don't have a first round pick or even a top 15'er because we lost our pick in the ZC deal. Well worth it I say to win a cup. I don't regret that one bit.

I wonder if Fauci and Byrk would of been able to do press conference on the pandemic without all the campaign bluster coming out of Trump ass and pressure from Trumps administration, at least the American public would be much better informed without having to cut thru the BS. We might get a melt down today if the press go after him today

I think 6 year olds come up with better lies.
Perfect time for a journalist to seize the opportunity to ask the president to clarify whether he is not taking this seriously with "sarcastic" answers or if he's just a lying idiot in over his head.
Nothing will sway his base, but I'd love to see the temper tantrum it would cause.
