Great. Thanks for chiming in with the identical post for the 850th time this year. No one is arguing your point and you won't change anyone's mind who disagrees. It's been a year of this. It feels pretty redundant. Give it a rest at least for the offseason. If the same issues crop up next year OK....fair enough...fire away.

Aw, come on, give him a break. It's only January 3. There's no way his number is that high!🙂

I'm surprised Jones hasn't signed Marshall. I mean Arland Bruce IV was betting against his own college team & is under suspension but Jones just signed him. What's another thug player on a weapons charge???

These coaches like Jones who put winning above everything else should all be gone. I'm tired of these asshats continuing to bring in players of low moral character. If they're suspended then why should the CFL be an outlet for them to play? We need as a league to honour suspensions.

    You're joking.....right?

"Police stopped the vehicle Marshall was driving and reportedly found a modified automatic handgun. Records said Marshall and Borders were in “possession of sawed-off shotgun, sawed-off rifle, dangerous weapon, or silencer.”"

I realize that it's Georgia but even they have gun laws. If he's found guilty, he'll be playing QB for the Georgia State Prison "Rough Riders" for the next five years (manditory sentence for him if found guilty) a la Burt Reynolds in The Longest Yard.

Briggs...Maybe Miller...possibly...more hopefully Thomas...that's all I see...Benson possibly too tho he ain't eating up much space for a specialty role...

This mass retiring mantra is more media soon speculation and fan opinion....

Biggie won't retire as he is signed...does he agree to restructure and be a bit/role player? Maybe...but could also see him released before FA then to give him best opp to sign elsewhere for good money if someone wanting to pay him before FA dollars get gobbled up.

That being said I have no issues with him coming to camp and competing against all up and comera and new young guys...and if he gets beat out then offered the Briggs role and actually designate him as the Nationalized American and freely sub him in for a Canadian for certain situations and sets...he could be very useful in a 30 snap or less role as well as his leadership and defacto extra coach on the staff

Walking on in a huff is a good thing...the fire and.desire still burns strong and he knows we wasted another chance....I bet he comes back and goes out on top for 2024

Regarding Bighill. Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't he acquired all sorts of finanicial planning, etc. designations and is working with one of the local (branch?) financial/wealth management companies? If so, it might be problematic to uproot the family and his clients to play a season or two with another team.

  4. A lot of repetition here but still an enjoyable read with my second cup of coffee this morning. To me, in a nutshell, we (the Bombers) were outcoached (roster "management", schemes and  adjustments on both sides of the ball) in the most important game of the season...very frustrating for this armchair QB.

Now that management is back in place for the next couple of years, they can go about trying to piece together another solid and, hopefully, Grey Cup calibre team. It should be an interesting off-season.

I think you're incorrect but it could be that I'm incorrect in my interpretation of that rule.

My understanding is that a Nationalized import can replace a Canadian for a number of plays. OTOH, it doesn't mean you can add an additional import to the roster as you suggest. Number of imports is a fixed number.

    From the CFL website:

"Each team may have a maximum of 45 players (min. 44), including three quarterbacks, at least one global player, 21 national players including one nationalized American. Teams can dress a maximum of 19 Americans not including quarterbacks and the nationalized American."

The way I interpret this is that, as an example, Bighill, an American, could have been designated as the nationalized American and be included in the group of 21 nationals (one national would have to be dropped). Since the 19 Americans no longer includes Bighill's spot another can then be rostered. A caveat is that this nationalized American can only play 23 plays.

  6. From what I've read, it appears to me that O'Shea's plan was to dress and play Bighill only sparingly because of his injury. Am I right or wrong in that interprtation? Let's say I'm right, could O'Shea have then rostered Bighill as a "nationalized" American (still could have got plenty of snaps), dropped one of the marginal Canadians and dressed another American, say a DB like Rose?

he still out punted the Montreal guy, who badly shanked two punts, including the last one that set us up on the 50 yard line with 3 minutes left and SHOULD have led to at least a FG and the Als with almost no time left on the clock.  But here we are.  If Sheahan had choked the way the Montreal guy did yeah I'd want his head.  I don't mind him.

Oh, I agree that he out-punted their Aussie Rules Football guy yesterday. (What is it with this sudden infatuation with Australian punters? Global player rule?) All I was implying was that I wasn't impressed with his season's body of work and was hoping to find out some stats on net punt returns.

Not that it would make a lick of difference but if we wanted to prepare a couple questions/statements, I’d be willing to call in to cjob tonight.

Pigrome? Nah, he wouldn’t have done anything different.

Agreed the focus needs to be 2025

Also, I gotta go back to the punting. How in gods name did they roll with Sheehan and his crappy gimmick all year?

I have to admit I was unimpressed by Sheahan's punting this past season. Sure his average was OK (46.2 yards) but it seemed like he and the rest of the punting team were not on the same page a lot of the time resulting in good returns because our cover guys weren't in their correct lanes/spaces or were too far upfield. It would be interesting to know the net yards on his punts. I couldn't find it anywhere. Anyone got an answer?

I was thinking last night as I tried in vain to fall asleep (I got there, but man it took a long time) that this was almost easier when there were no expectations of us, year in and year out. But expecting to be great and expecting to win.... then you repeatedly lose to inferior teams in the big game......... it's really really hard.

I hope that your job interview went well. Seriously!

well not in terms of attitude... but probably bighill. O'Shea will never not put Bighill in a prime position on D and Bighill is nowhere near the player he was a few seasons ago. GM is likely going to have to force the issue there because I don't see the defence getting truly better until we can move on from that aging star. Ritchie Hall D has always needed a quality middle linebacker to be effective.

I keep thinking of Sam Hurl era and not fondly.

BA would be the perfect DA who could slot in at safety..SAM...corner and still plays great teams.

Holm should be our safety next yr as we don't need a big bopper there, and we focus on HB who are physical, and can play up and disrupt receivers as well as run with them and cover....we play to soft, and when it gets to crunch time more often than not it kills us as we get nickle and dimed down a feild....

We don't need a plethora of guys who excel playing off and seem like good guys at closing in on a pass to stop progress...we need more guys who are there to actually limit the receptions in the first place

and the bolded is key...its what has occured 2 yrs running now...and hmmmmm0-2 in last 2 grey cups

I like your ideas for the defensive backfield.

we didnt lose due to one play....when it was 10 zip we should have went for the throat...and we didn't/couldn't and that was a huge red flag...and giving up feild position all game on teams, and running an offence with only really 2/3rds of the receiving group actually healthy to do mush was also a major fail...Why do you think our offence looked off...no pre-snap motion to set things up...or jet sweeps....receiver runs...Heavy inside passes?...cause our guys couldn't do it...and shouldn't have been out there.

Schoen for most part took no attention away from the MTL defence, and they gave him some underneath stuff to the sidelines...big deal....But running BOLO down the rail, or in a deep or midrange skinny post...or fade would have....Dumping Agudosi too was dumb and gave no coverage...I bet him down the rail or deep down the middle would have drawn away a DB and safety....

Our roster killed us...The Jeffs basically played all game....no end in the league will be successful with that load....not happening....Houston was being exploited....no coverage there to pull him...Perfect opp was there to have Rose there, and he WOULD have made a difference....but no ..Biggie was in...did nothing...cost us a TD....and was off the field as much as on it....Roster decisions...use of talent...or lack there of killed us....and it wasnt in just this game...went on all yr, and yes we eeked out a few wins we were lucky to get in spite of it...so it all seemed rosey....and it wasn't

what does that post even mean or imply??

If you think about it a bit, it's pretty funny. (Good natured poking fun at you and the other "veterans" on the list)

As pissed as I am at Zach, make a play "dark side". Two years in a row you can't stop an inferior offense from taking the game from you. The Crum-back game was a warning sign, and the Dolegala labour day game was the clincher. In a close game, this defense can't be counted on anymore to get it done.

And the comments from Biggie and Schoen show both of them were as surprised they were playing as we were, so Oshea needs to explain to the rest of his roster and an entire city why those two guys feelings are more important.

I wasn't aware of their comments. Can you elaborate?

100%. I'm gonna be honest with you guys.... I have a job interview tomorrow with a company back home, and I feel like I should cancel it. I don't want anything to do with MB right now. I know I'll regret that next spring, but right now........ I'm just done.

Please step away from the edge. It's only a football game. Do the interview. Get the job. Come on back. There's always next year.

  15. Defensively, aside from that first-half ending play, the Bombers played a tremendous game. Kudos to Coach Hall and, of course, the players who "practiced what the coach preached". Offensively, I thought that Coach Pierce's play calling was excellent in the first half especially when the O-line was overpowering BC's D-line and Olveira was running with authority. However, once BC adjusted their D to basically neutralize Oliveira in the second half, Pierce did not seem to adjust the O to BC's adjustment, in my opinion. It seemed like for every first down play, the Bombers insisted on pounding Oliveira into the line for a lot fewer yards than in the first half.  Don't get me wrong. I'm a long-time Bomber fan and am absolutely thrilled that they're going to Steeltown for the GC but I was disappointed with Buck's play calling in the second half.

    Go Bombers Go!

Hamilton issues at QB is that Shiltz doesn't know what he looking at...or for...and when he figures it out he's under siege

That's what starting him was dumb...for all the BLM criticisms he knows what's going on...and gives them the best chance...Use Shiltz as a change of pace...a pre-meditated package here and there....that's their chance to.pull this out...or was...does Orlando make a savvy coaching decision at the half

Steinhauer should fire himself for not making the change.
