I'm a Bomber season ticket holder and I've followed the team since 1957. And I really do enjoy watching the CFL in general. However, I do have grave concerns about the current viability of the league. Anyone do a count of fans in the stands at Commonwealth tonight? It looks like the stands at a USFL game. And Edmonton is not the only team with a paucity of butts in the seats. The CFL is in big trouble in my opinion.

I've seen Gallapagos tortoises with more speed than Oliveira.
That's an understatement!

Don't often comment in game but O play calling in horrible and Oliveira and Augustine for that matter are like the second coming of Keenan LaFrance. And that's not a good thing.

Doesn't really restrict anything. All they declare are DI's, QB's and Globals. The one import who isn't a DI but is a "backup" is for all intents and purposes a starter.
Do we have an import receiver who is better than Demski or Wolitarsky?
The only spot we can really complain about is tailback but didn't seem like they really gave the Americans in camp much of a shot to win the job.
Oliviera is fine but it would be nice to pair him with an American who has a little more burst. Can see they are terrified to have Augustine out there much with his blocking issues.
Could easily DI a back who can return a bit and sub in for one of the American receivers, dress another Canadian receiver to sub/use Miller more at H-back.
Hate to contradict you but based on the first three games this season, Oliviera is not "fine". He is slow! He's looks small (not that that matters if he were quick....but he isn't); and he hasn't been used as a pass receiver. Hmmm.....maybe he's a great blocking back. Unfortunately based on the first three games, I'd say he's not.
However, it may be the O-line that's contributing to Olivietra"s lack of production, that may. Gray, imo, has been a less than adequate replacement as a guard. (Is that an unnatural position for him?) For a guy who had all sorts of try-outs/practice roster spots in the NFL, he's having problems with the Canadian game. Anyway, just my opinion of two guys on the O for the Bombers.

There was a play in the Bomber Ti-Cat game where Jeffcoat jumped offside but the play continued, and then the Cats were called for holding. Penalties offset despite the yardage difference in the fouls, and the play was a do-over.
I noted that too. I still don't know why five yards (difference) weren't march off against the Cats. Also, did anyone else notice that Evans was past the line of scrimmage when he threw the ball on a least two occasions (to my eyes anyway) and no flag was thrown?

It's hard to argue with the list of QBs offered up. Although he is on no one's top 5 list and most of you won't remember him, here's a good read on Ken Ploen's competition in the late 1950s.

But for an injury and the US draft, it could have been Kenny Who?

For those who are the older crowd, where does this Bomber team sit in your ranks? I know the 80s had absolute legends and those teams were incredible but after this season of dominance I'm just curious.
I'm really dating myself here but the Bud Grant coached teams between 1957-1962 were pretty dominant. They lost to Hamilton in the 1957 Grey Cup but defeated the Ti-Cats for the Cup in 1958 and 1959. The 1960 team might have been the best of the bunch but they lost to a hot Edmonton team in the Western Final. In 1961 and 1962 the Bombers again won the Cup knocking off Hamilton each time. It was a different era when the football was not played as it is today but it's all relative. While I love what the current Bombers are doing and hope that they can successfully carry it on, I have to go with Grant's Big Blue teams.

Cahoon for sure, MTL lived off him getting first downs for years. It was almost automatic 2 and 8 and he caught it 9 yards up....every time.
It's a good thing that Lapo wasn't his OC.☺️

Keeping it lighthearted....when the Jets took the Heritage Classic in Regina a few weekends ago, the Bombers in their last regular season game also defeated the Stamps. When the Bombers knocked off the Stamps in the western final, the Jets also won. This past weekend, the Jets escaped Tampa with a win followed by the Bombers doing the same in Riderville. So....the Jets host Columbus this Saturday. Could the outcome of that game predict the Grey Cup winner? Not that I'm superstitious….but Go Jets Go!

An inept offence simply contributes to a defence that is forced to score points and try and win the turnover ratio....when they manage to do that the team wins....look back at last year....it was the same story.....win the turnover ratio and the team has a chance....don’t win the turnover ratio....simply blame the defence.
Sorry but I never stated that the Bomber O wasn't inept. I mentioned that aside from the time that BLM was sacked (oops, called back because of RTP), they had no pressure on him which of course lead to receivers being wide open. It started on the opening drive so one can't blame that on an inept Bomber O.

Did you watch the game?
I did and I hope that I'm not being rude but can you come up with a few examples to counter my second sentence?

Ya right fire Hall? The defence directly scores one TD and has an INT responsible for scoring another TD. YOUR offence passes for what 135yds...completes one pass over 20 yds downfield and the QB is the leading rusher.?
Hey doc, what game were you watching? The D had a moment or two but for the majority of the game they were nowhere near BLM or a Calgary receiver.
Interestingly, while coach Hall was away for two weeks the D including the backs had a couple of decent games. I realize that the guys who were running the D while Hall was away were using the same overall "scheme" but individual plays were called differently....more aggressive in my opinion....with better results.

I'm not quite there but at a minimum O'Shea must have the kahonies to fire Hall and Lapolice. If he doesn't, he should be gone too.

after that run by Big Chris to the Edmonton 3 yard line Matthews came running over and offered Strevs a high five and a hand up, and Big Chris just shrugged him off and kind of ghosted him. I thought "That was odd" at the time and re-watched it several times. Big Chris is usually the first to give a team-mate a high five/congrats, so it was out of character for him to shun Matthews like that, especially after a big run. Something wasn't right.
I noticed this too and thought it was odd.

The pass may have been catchable. However, it was underthrown! Adams had to slow to almost a stop which allowed the two defenders time to catch up and throw a few arms and hands into the fray.

Like I said elsewhere, the when is more important than the total.
I brought up swaggerville to illustrate a point, that even with the kind of defence we all want to see a Lapo led offense still can't get the job done.
I am the only one here looking at the big picture, everyone else is fixated on trying to find one single thing to blame and that's the only problem on the team. I am trying to get you all to think about things but no, it's all Ritchie Halls fault. Damn the man! woulda been 20-0 and win the grey cup easily if not for him!
I just about sprayed my coffee all over my computer screen when I read this. Kind of think pretty highly of yourself?

I was at the game with a good view of the Bomber bench and after Adams' injury, I believe I saw him in a Bomber hoodie sporting a brace that covered his left arm from the wrist to just above the elbow so I'm thinking it's not a shoulder or collar bone injury....dislocated elbow, fractured radius/ulna? One way or another, it's not looking positive.

Whikle I'm happy that the Bombers are 4-0, they have a few issues to deal with including some injuries to key players (Demski, Couture, Alexander and Wilson immediately come to mind). Even though the O-line is struggling (IMO, ), I don't think that Oliveira is the answer at RB. And the current set of receivers doesn't seem to have the ability to "take it deep" to stretch the defense. So, if BC doesn't have to worry too much about a Bomber deep threat and running back.......well, it could be a long evening for the Bombers. It is early in the season and I think that the Bombers' brain-thrust will figure it out and address the issues. However, I would be more than pleasantly surprised if the Blue pull out a W tonight.
