Being the league's TV partner, I can only imagine how desperately they wanted this regional right, too...for synergy, if nothing else. Awesome for Corus, awesome for the Bombers, and most importantly, this is awesome for Bombers fans...

Don't want to do anything that might injure it more than it currently is.  Now it is about protecting the calf.  When they get him ready for the game it will be a completely different approach.  It will be all about pain management.

The Wetenhall's now are not the Wetenhall's of 10 years ago.  When Papa Wetenhall ran the team it could be argued that the Als had the best ownership in the league, now that the son runs the show they are a circus.

I seem to remember, not too many years ago, several people bemoaning the fact that we're a community owned team and how there's no accountability because it's run by a board and how private ownership would be so much better because there would be someone from whom the buck stops at.  Good times, good times...

Sure, and what happens to the team when they run out of money, hold a telethon and beg?  For owner's like Braley and Wetenhall owning a CFL franchise is not a good investment of their funds as they they could easily create better returns elsewhere and are probably losing money running these teams in the current market.  They like football and they like owning CFL teams and supporting the league and their communities, don't take their generosity for granted as it is currently essential to the stability of the league.

The OC and the QB have so much influence on protections and play calling that put the big boys in the positions to be effective.  Fans go crazy when the QB throws a 5 yard pass as a primary on 2nd and 10, but completely disregard the free rusher who would have killed the QB if he had stuck with his called 7-step drop.  +5 vs -10 - that's an extra 15 yards on the punt.

And before Lulay got hurt, their offence was tearing it up.... . Not saying he's the right fit here, but it's a name to add to the debate!

thing is too tho...this mailing it in thing is a bit of a myth/farce...as a player I have played in many a game which held no real significance at certain points in a year, and believe me guys don't want to just show up and loose and go through the motion...any team I was on with a player with an attitude like that would be carved from the herd and that would be that.
Athletes want to win regardless...especially professionals who lively-hood depend on it. So this notion that certain teams didnt come to play is laughable...especially at home.
I think Winnipeg showed they were tougher and didn't let the conditions hinder their play..Sure BLM was out, but so was Nichols,..Adams..Leggett..Westerman..Bond..Briggs.
Calgary had their starting offence and defensive lines in...running back...receivers save for Mcdaniel but he has been out a while , so it's not like it was a preseason game with nobodies and rookies...it was their A team and sure Singleton sat for better part of 3 quarters but he doesn't play on deference so not sure how that would made much of a difference  on that side of the ball where we actually shut a team down defensively. Another thing too, Buckley is much more evasive and mobile than BLM and you never know..with BLM in there we may have had more sacks ...
This isn't a blue koolaide rant, but take it for what it was in a November football game...some teams are not built for playing in this weather...see Calgary most years after their 15-3 seasons...they seem to fizzle out when the frost hits the pumpkins...Maybe this Bomber team is built to thrive in this less than adequate environment...and a ball hawking defence always seem to rise in this weather too...and it cant be denied the Bombers are a takeaway defense...Sunday will be interesting

He's a solid O-lineman and has earned his keep the last two seasons as a rotating piece. Durability was a concern in the past for him and that adversely affected his stock, IMO.
For what he is, he's an important asset.

we've had this discussion way too many times...Neufeld is good at everything except staying healthy. Somehow his inability to stay on the field became "he sucks", which just isn't true, nor has it ever been.

It's a fallacy that Neufeld struggled....the only thing Neufeld ever struggled at is staying healthy. When he plays, he's really good, which is why they got him in the first place.
