    Covid-19

Keep in mind also that the vaccine mandate for truckers just came in... empty shelves has been an issue for a while. I'd also like to point out that the truckers that are protesting are only about 3% of the truckers in the country, so just a very vocal minority that are able to be louder due to the right wing nut jobs that have latched on to their "cause" and added their voices to it even though they really have no skin in the game.
  2. Articles and complaints about stuff like this drive me crazy. 5G wouldn't be the issue, the frequencies that they may be using to deploy parts of the 5G networks could be, but the technology itself isn't the problem.
  3. A cabinet shuffle that puts in a better Health Minister wouldn't be a bad thing though... I can't say whether there is someone better qualified to do the job, but there's the small glimmer of hope that it's possible.
  4. Pretty sure Obby Khan is well known. He's not the candidate for the area yet, but he's thrown his hat in the ring for it.

I think the most annoying thing that I keep hearing from them is when they pat themselves on the back about how we've had the "strictest measures in place for the as long as we have". At the end of the day, I don't care that you've put a bunch of restrictions in if a bunch of people aren't following the restrictions and not being punished for it. Enforcement needs to be ramped up and it has to have some teeth behind it (ie. actual collection of fines and such).

Fair point on the naming. I actually like that it's the QR code that needs to be scanned because it's harder to fake that. I also believe that people who legitimately can't get vaccinated should have one as well so that they aren't limited. The process to get that though should be heavily vetted.

I hear you on this one but it can become a slippery slope. I'm not a fan of the slippery slope argument, but there are some easy ones that are a very close comparison that make that a tough call. Everyone knows that smoking isn't good for you, so if you choose to smoke, should you be denied health care? When it comes to triage though, I can see it making sense to prioritize everyone over the unvaxed. I definitely agree with the vaccine passport idea where privileges are limited (ie. attending sporting events, being inside private businesses, etc.)
  8. I like the idea in theory, but I seem to remember Walters, early in his tenure as GM, saying that he doesn't like incentive deals because it's too much uncertainty for the SMS and makes it a lot harder to manage.

Since nobody else has posted it yet today.
  10. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Not sure if this is a great reference for the Bombers if it's implying that they would make the team.

If that was the case, the Darwin awards wouldn't exist.
  13. The reference to it being ok because it's a naturally occurring plant is kinda BS though... Cocaine comes from a naturally occurring plant too. It has been proven many times over that cannabis is harmful to brain development for users under the age of 25.
  14. I could see us losing Goveia at some point, but I get the impression that McManus is with us until he's let go or retires. His scouting job allows him to keep living in the US (Florida, I think), and he's probably pretty comfortable there. Goveia seems to have some aspirations to be a GM some day and the right fit will come along for him eventually.

We're still on the fence. May have the in-laws over for Christmas day. Usually spend time with my side of the family on Boxing Day, leaning heavily towards cancelling that one though. The bigger issue for me is the step-children who will be spending time with 2 families on their dad's side. Would prefer that they didn't do that, but don't really have a say.

To anyone looking to buy KN95 masks, here is a Canadian company making and selling them: https://www.canadamasq.com/

Yeah, there was a followup report that stated that the 1 year shelf life was a misprint and that the masks are in fact good for 3 years. https://globalnews.ca/news/8470370/free-kn95-masks-distribute-in-many-manitoba-liquor-stores-go-quickly-some-masks-expired/
  18. The only way I see that being true is if he agreed to some sort of penalties in his contract if he leaves early.
  19. Tried those on the weekend, they were actually really good.
  20. I don't begrudge teams letting guys go just before a bonus is due. I remember reading something a couple of years back that basically said that agents put those clauses into contracts to force a team's hand to either keep a guy on, or release him before free agency so that he can get a head start on negotiating with other teams. I don't see it as a bad thing that the teams have done at all.
  21. Don't forget about Benson and Gray (yes, they may have less showy impact on the team, but they are still there)... It's amazing to me how we ended up with 5 players from Winnipeg on the team.
  22. Yeah, I was really surprised that McGuire wasn't there. It's not like he wasn't part of the team, he was on the field a few times in the Grey Cup.
  23. He did say right away that he wouldn't be doing the coaches show. I'm guessing that it will be guest spots here and there throughout the season.
