I haven't got the access to contractual terms for any player & you know it as you couldn't even answer your own question. So, what you ask makes no sense. I just know that we have more younger players leaving now after their first contract is up with us than we did a few years ago. I think it's absolutely legit to ask why this is happening without you getting all frazzled & freaked out. Players like Garbutt, Fox, O'Leary-Orange, Dobson & Ford all left when their contracts were up. Kenny Lawler, the best frigging receiver in the CFL walked as we didn't want to pay. We decided instead to keep an injury prone Dalton Schoen who may never again rise to the level that he was two years ago due to his severe knee injury. Michael Couture never came back from his NFL tryout 2 years ago. We either didn't try or couldn't attract one prized impactful CFL free agent here this past off season & we're hosting a Grey Cup. You'd think free agent players from other teams would want to be here because of the reputation Osh has, wouldn't you? We deliberately left $400,000 on the table in salary for players while Walters blamed the CFLPA saying the cap may be rolled back by the Players Association & put into pensions which never happened. And it never was going to happen after the league & CFLPA announced the cap increase.

Making things up? Did you read what Tyrell Ford said? Most poster don't lie & make things up here. Let's hope we beat Calgary or heads gonna explode.

No, I figured it out, young feller.

Walters let Tyrell Ford walk looking to save money on the cap & then turns around & waste money signing an over the hill Jake Thomas. This off season was one of the worst we ever had.

Gotta' go with Lawler.

If you look into it, Mitchell had a sketchy history before he arrived in Edmonton, one of these players that matures quickly and dominates high school football with advanced physical skills, quite common in hockey too. Probably learned to get open without paying much attention to a playbook, he should have been Tre Ford's favourite receiver. "In his senior season, he was named Tennessee's Gatorade football player of the year after he caught 81 passes for 1,484 yards and 22 touchdowns, leading the Spartans to a 9–4 record and the Class 6A quarterfinals.[1] He also rushed for 951 yards and 20 more touchdowns on 64 carries."

Gotta recognize greatness bro. Without Peters on the field, they give up at least 173.

Pimpleton also cost Ottawa the game with a muffed punt.

Sure played a hell of a game between the 30s. Yes sir, a good game between the 30s.

Argos OL Ryan Hunter was riding a scooter on the first day back after bye week and was hit by a car. Out at least 6-8 weeks... What in the actual ****?
-
Yeah, and a linebacker whose defence was on the field for 43 minutes and gave up over 170 yards to Butler as a performer of the week.

If they do put another Olive Garden here guess where they're going to put it https://www.insauga.com/popular-family-restaurant-chain-plans-to-expand-in-canada/

But if they ain’t competing for the same spot then it’s all irrelevant. Apparently Mitchell would take Wheatfalls spot. He’s not taking Schoen spot tho. That’s on the coaching. Or mitchell just isn’t as good as people think he is. That is a real possibility also.
-
The biggest issue with Ford is he can’t throw the ball fast enough to be accurate at this level. But you can give him a lot more room to work with by running a committed RPO scheme. Then it’s a matter of if he can take the punishment of running more/always being the decoy.
-
Its not like anybody did better....oh wait. Ok, its not like there was a better QB performance in the same game....Um...PFF requests a do over.
-
Talk is cheap. If he cannot beat out Kody Chase, that has to be a sad commentary.
-
Trevor Harris is the player of the week - a QB who generated 10 points? Allllllrighty then.

It’s possible the elks were so much of a dumpster fire that it rubbed off on their players. Mitchell was an elk his entire career. Few days ago I mentioned maybe removing the elks stink is taking some time. Appears it is.

The largest known Mars meteorite on Earth could sell for up to $4 million at Sotheby's July 16 auction in New York City. The rare space rock traveled 140 million miles from Mars before crash-landing in the Sahara Desert in 2023, according to Sotheby's. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/martian-meteorite-auction/

Just read the July 14th 2025 freep article. In a nutshell reading a bit between the lines, not grasping the system plus suspect work ethic equals nope, not ready for prime time. He seemed to say all the right things to the reporter, that’s encouraging I guess.

In terms of Walter’s approach. I think he gets a sense pretty early on if a player is going to listen to offers in the tampering window. And in those cases they want to wait and see what the guy is being offered before going above what they think is fair value for a player. The idea that Winnipeg would have been able to retain Ford had they communicated in a different way sounds like cope from Ford. He took the money and the chance to play with his brother. But nobody going to say they did it for the money. Given how difficult it is to keep a good team good for long term in a salary cap era I think they’ve done alright. We’d be in a better position if they’d been better at recruited Defensive ends over the years. They seem to cap out at serviceable when it comes to defensive end recruits.
