  1. Past hour
  2. could be......happy wife ...happy life.....That just might weigh into his decision😉
  3. His wife is from Regina, in the end he may not get to make this decision. 😄
  4. offers more than our 33 yr old guy...who is limited now in his plugging and playing
  5. Sounds like Weston didn't exactly like the crap thrown his way, on his departure from saskabush....He was treated with genuine praise and was well liked, when he suited up for us and he has said as much....I know the impression of my career I would like going into the hof and it's not the final one he left behind in Regina
  6. I would as well, but if for whatever reason they want NAT depth on the DL, Menard wouldn't be the worst choice. Although just looking around the league there might be some intriguing NAT DL that shake loose as well. I'm not super stoked about signing a 33 year old guy as a stop gap, however, he is a plug and play guy that still should have a year of balling left in him and has the passport we might need for depth.
  7. Yea....and it's not really a debate so much as his short time with the Bombers may outweigh a long stint in his peak years with the Riders to Dressler. That says a ton about that organization.
  8. The fact that there's even a debate is a big LOL to that sad sack franchise.
  9. And then immediately played the next 3 years with an organization that has been in a class of it's own in regards to the treatment and ongoing support of it's players. Dressler is basically saying these were the years he enjoyed the most in his career, and based on where he came from I believe this is more than lip service. The Riders dissed him, the Bombers embraced him and helped him grow not just as a football player but as a relatively young man transitioning to a new chapter in his life. Dressler wants us all to know he respects the hell out of that. I will take his indecision at face value.
  10. Today
  11. He did not leave the Riders on good terms, that may be at the heart of his indecision. Jones cut him after Taman previously deferred his salary after coming back from the NFL and taking much less to play in Sask.. Money that was promised but never paid.
  12. It pains me to say this but the real NHL coach of the year if you take everything into consideration is Kris Knoblauch imho.
  13. I have a Dressler Bomber jersey, but it should be Sask. I get the sense he is trying to pay respect to the Bombers by saying it is a hard decision, but the Rider fans will probably take it as disrespect to them instead.
  14. If he goes in as a Bomber, the teeth (tooth?) gnashing in Riderville would be hilarious.
  15. In his case, as funny as it would be for us, It’s gotta be Sask. 2-3 years at the tail end of his career isn’t gonna make him put a blue jersey on for the HOF.
  16. It's more a matter of giving guys a legit chance....real opportunity...Other teams have done thjeir own recruiting and you see new guys in starters roles...or legit talent earning their chops on the roster on teams....and PR's.....not so much here...only time a new guy gets a shot is if there is a total void and nobody comig back...example Schoen...Strev...Nichols and Alford....That being said....a lot of our cuts and guys we do release get scooped up.... Also...You dont know truly what you hav if you dont give a guy a shot...Example again..Strev...Alfors/Nichols....Stove.....but you do what your scrubs offer...and cant offer Menard at this point would offer more than Thomas...Scmecks...Bennett....hopefuly he not back..Kornelson.....and he brings vet presence....what a lot of posters lobby for why Thomas is key...even tho he offers nothing other than a warm body now
  17. David Menard would be intriguing although wouldn’t thrill me. We definitely would have the money to spend now. I’d rather just go all American but whatever
  18. Not sure if we go the Kongbo route or not, but we can't stay status quo on Thomas/Schmekel. Walters will need to add some NAT talent to our DL. Whether that is at DE or a FA DT...not sure. I would advocate for Kongbo but word in Hamilton is that he won't budge off of starting NAT DE money and that is why he remains unsigned. David Menard may be another stop gap guy that comes to mind as a possibility. KW may wait until cut downs around the league to see who shakes loose as well.
  19. I imagine if a team today said “we are calling ourselves the Penguins or the Maple Leafs” there would be a ton of scorn online, yet we don’t really hear how goofy it is. Don Cheery pointed this out when the Ducks branded themselves. A name is just a name at the end of the day.
  20. So in the last 5 years, which newbie player cut in training camp by the Bombers has gone elsewhere and become an impact player?
  21. That is the most likely line of reasoning. If Barriere had been here more than 10 days I'd really consider him a bust. Right now I'd love to see the guy get until the end of camp and maybe some PR time before deciding he doesn't get it.
  22. You figure everyone else is staying and putting in the time, and Barriere is like "nahhh I'm good..." And is heading home early? C'mon... Everyone is doing the same level of work... Some just catch on quicker than others.
